Dear Christian Educators: Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We praise and thank God for allowing us to serve another term as your State Director of Christian Education. I am looking forward to working with our newly elected State Convention President and officers and our newly appointed State Congress President and his officers. God is truly good. Since working with you previously, there will not be too many changes. However, I have presented some new incentives to our State Convention President and our State Congress President. They have graciously been approved. I know that you will benefit greatly from these new incentives. More importantly, we will continue to uphold the policies and procedures of the Division of Christian Education Accreditation and Credentials of the Sunday School Publishing Board, as well as follow the vision of our State Convention President, Dr. William H. Foster, Jr., and our State Congress President, Dr. Michael Runnels. As we move forward, please make note the following information: 1. Deans, please continue to adhere to the CLS Manual. If you are not sure about something in the Manual, please feel free to call or email me. I will be more than happy to walk you through the process. 2. Some of our Deans and especially our District Deans have let their dean’s certification expire. During our State Director’s Institute, we will offer #2100 Guidelines For Recertification For Deans. We ask that you make plans now to attend our Institute. 3. Please keep your Informer subscription current.

JUST AS A FRIENDLY REMINDER:  When sending in your Schools, remember, ALL CLS forms must be typed.  Remember when you send in your CLS please use the revised Form 25. The Financial Worksheet (Form 25) should be on top of your package. Form 25 is attached.  There is a section on each CLS Form for fee information including amount submitted, check number, total, etc., it is important that you complete this section especially if you are submitting multiple checks or money orders.  It is very important that you mail your completed school package to the Division of Christian Education Accreditation and Credentials 90 days before your school date. Also, a copy of your completed package must also be mailed to me at, P.O. Box 208012, Chicago, IL 60620. Both packages should be mailed at the same time.  Deans are responsible for reading and reviewing all Form’s and especially the instructor’s lesson plans on Forms 5 and 6. If the lesson plans do not meet with the standards of the DCEAC-SSPB, it is the Dean’s responsibility to return the Form to the instructor for correction.  Deans, please review the instructions for Form 8 – Class Attendance Record.  Instructors, we encourage you to certify for more courses. This will help your Dean to be able to make more course selections when it is time for your CLS.  Deans, be adventurous and offer a course that you have not offered before.  DEANS/INSTRUCTORS – IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU - READ AND STUDY YOUR CLS MANUAL and FORMS, OFTEN!  DISTRICT DEANS – please pass this information on to your local deans and

instructors. NEW PROGRAMS ~ INCENTIVES and NEWS:  STATE DIRECTORS INSTITUTE: MARK YOUR CALENDARS! We will have our annual State Directors Institute on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 8301 South Damen, Chicago, IL 60620. Dr. Rogers W. Jackson, Pastor. Our flyer and registration form is attached to this correspondence. We will offer some new and exciting courses. I hope to see you there.  As we move forward, I would like to offer a State Directors Institute in your District and your city. If you are interested, please contact me.  DECEMBER SSPB CONFERENCE: “The Word In 3D.” Don’t forget to register for the December 2014 SSPB Conference. It will be held, Monday, December 8-10, 2014 in Nashville, Tenn. You will be able to take two (2) courses. Register Now!!! Brochures will be available during our State Directors Institute. GRADUATION: ALL persons who have completed any phase of the COPP, Specialization Education Studies Program, the Pastor’s Alternative For Teacher Certification, Dean’s Certification or the Pastor’s Advanced Training Program courses since July 1, 2014 are invited to participate in the SSPB Commencement. There is a $10.00 fee. All course requirements (course cards and documentation and applications) must be turned in to the DCEAC by October 31, 2014. For more information you can contact Beverly A. I have copies of the graduation form.  CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP SCHOOL RECOGNITION AWARDS: During the SSPB December 2014 Conference, Awards will be given to persons who have excelled in Christian Education. The Division of Christian Education Accreditation and Credentials will be contacting all State Directors for recommendations for the following Award Recognitions: Outstanding Instructor, Outstanding Dean,

Outstanding Dean of Record, Outstanding CLS, Outstanding State Director and Outstanding Regional Coordinator. I will be contacting ALL BGS DEANS for recommendations.  The current Instructors and Informer List will be emailed to you within the next few weeks. You will receive these reports quarterly. Please make sure that I have your correct email address.  CLS MANUAL REVIEW: I will be recruiting deans and instructors to work with me on our CLS Manual. If you are interested in working on this project, please contact me. I would like to start reviewing the Manual by the end of September. If you have any ideas on how we can enhance our CLS Manual, please contact me. The CLS Manual may be revised by December 2015.
