Baltimore School for the Arts Annual Report 2009-2010 Celebrating 30 Years For thirty years, Baltimore School for the Arts has given talented young artists the opportunity to pursue their passion for dance, music, theatre or visual arts as well as to build a strong academic foundation. 20099-2010 Annual Campaign For the 2009-2010 fiscal year, funds received from the Baltimore City Public School System covered 73% of BSA’s operating budget, paying faculty salaries, building maintenance, and security costs. The remaining 27% – the funding for all arts programming and classroom materials – was raised through the annual campaign. This included scholarships for summer study and college bound seniors, all costs associated with performances and exhibitions, master classes, SAT and PSAT training, pointe shoes for our dancers, paintbrushes for visual artists, musical instruments, library books, theatre sets and costumes, and support for TWIGS. The BSA endowment provides a permanent funding base for the school. From it the school receives yearly interest. It comprises a general fund, the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation Endowment Fund, the Eddie and Sylvia Brown TWIGS Challenge Fund, as well as a series of named scholarships, visiting artist, performance, exhibition, and program support funds.
