CHILDREN IN NEED We raised £91.22 for Children in Need. Thank you for your support for this good cause.

ROUTINE BEFORE SCHOOL Starting in January, we have decided to begin a slightly new routine before the school day starts with the bell being rung at 8.50am. We would like to kindly ask adults not to come into school in the mornings. If necessary, children can quickly come through to cloakrooms to drop off musical instruments, larger bags, etc. but then go outside to the playground. If raining, children (not adults) can go into the school hall. This will be for the benefit of all your children. Teachers and teaching assistants will have time to prepare enjoyable lessons with clear learning objectives. It will also help to develop your child’s independence. We would like this to apply also to the reception class children after Christmas. ADVICE FROM SCHOOL COUNCIL ON HOW PARENTS CAN HELP US WITH OUR MATHS Here are the minutes of our School Council meetings held on 14th and 23rd November: The School Council discussed how we could improve our memory, so that we did not forget all that we had learned, especially in Maths. These were our ideas: ♦

Do puzzles and investigations at home as well as at school.

“Teach” our parents, brothers and sisters some of the skills we have learnt.

Chant all the Times Tables at home with adults, maybe in “funny voices”. Ask adults to test us; for example, when we are riding in the car.

Write a times table that you find hard to remember on post-its all around your house. Say them when you go through a door! Keep changing these as you learn them.

We want to share our homework and learning with our families. We like this poster:

Tell me and I may forget. Teach me and I may remember. Involve me and I will learn.
