MARAMA MUSCELEANA – TRADITIONAL ROMANIAN HANDICRAFTS no. 99 Negru Vodă St. | Câmpulung Muscel | Argeş County | Rumänien KONTAKTPERSON: Micşunica Mihăilă - President T +40 248 510 240 E [email protected] | W www.artizanat-marama.ro We, Romanians, have a rich tradition in folk art and handicrafts; the artisans create products that bring the history closer to present times. In our craftsmen’s hands the diversity of shapes and colors, acquires different, beautiful and original forms. Established on February 1st, 1972, as producer of folk art and handicrafts, Marama Musceleană continued, over its four decades of activity, the crafts traditions of Muscel region. Since its establishment until 1988 Marama Musceleană produced wooden handicraft articles, handknotted carpets, embroideries and textile handicrafts, with 900 co-operators (employees). In 1988, the wooden handicraft activity was taken over by a new co-operative society, and the core company has specialized in the production of textile handicrafts. After 1990, a new stage in our company’s activity begins, in large part due to the new economic conditions and increased competition. In this difficult period for Romanian handicrafts, the continued production of folk costumes, embroidered blouses, and traditional head dresses remained a beautiful and hopeful ideal for us. Our co-operators invested their soul, artistry and diligence so that this ancestral occupation would not be lost. Combining usefulness with beauty, the rich artistic expression, elegant simplicity, the variety in unity, as characteristic features of Romanian folk art, we offer textile handicrafts of rare beauty and masterful design. Since 2005, our company has set in motion a reorganization plan intended to develop and nurture the tradition of authentic handicrafts. Presently we have a number of 150 co-operators (employees and shareholders at the same time). Our company maintains the name of Marama Musceleană and tries to consolidate its brand and raise the awareness of present and potential clients related to our products and work. We remind all our clients, the future beneficiaries of our beautiful products, that each article purchased from us is a win, both aesthetic and cultural. Also, we bring to your attention our activity related to the production of garments for women, articles that we export in different countries.
