A Message from the President Summer is winding down, and what a summer it has been. There have been ups and downs throughout the season, but overall I think it has been a pretty good one. The tunas that started out the summer with bang have all but fizzled, the marlins on the other hand kept us busy right up through the beginning of this week (until the wind started to blow, but I am sure someone will find them over the weekend!) There was decent weather for most of our tournaments (we won’t talk about the second day of the challenge cup- I really don’t want to talk about the cup anyway…) and every tournament had good participation and some awesome fishing. The clubhouse stayed busy all summer long. We had a few glitches with the air conditioning, but Shirley, Rick, Mikey J. and the rest of our all star crew kept everyone well fed, hydrated and smiling! I cannot thank our staff enough for all of the hard work they do. And of course I must thank Amanda for all of the hours spent keeping our ship sailing straight. Just 2 years ago she really wasn’t sure what a white marlin was, and just a few weeks ago she was catching her first and watching others pile on the left teaser!!! Mandy Sue You Rock!!! Lastly I have to thank the Board of Directors for keeping the club going behind the scenes. Summer is a busy time for all of the directors and officers but everyone still found time for club business. Thank you everyone. The “official” fishing season ends on the last day of September. I have been monitoring the catch reports and keeping track of the standings. I encourage everyone to keep filling out catch reports. Just the other day I had a dolphin that was a contender for biggest fish of the year and the individual angler awards and boat awards are not carved in stone (although I don’t think anyone will catch the Billfisher). Also remember that there is an award for the last white marlin caught for the season. Since I brought up the Seasonal Awards I also will remind everyone that the 3rd annual White Marlin Party will be taking place the night before the awards banquet. Any boat or angler that caught 5 or more billfish this season will be invited. I know some of you are knocking on the door but not quite there yet. There is over a week left, GO GET WHITEY!!! Congratulations to Bill Woody and the crew of the Blew Bayou for their White Marlin Open win ( I know I have been a little slack on Marlin Bills this summer and this is coming a little late). Nice to see a local boat bring home the big prize!!! Also congratulations to the OC fleet for a dominating performance in the MA500. Unfortunately I think that gave the Cape May Marlin and Tuna Club incentive to come down here and put a bit of a whuppin’ on us in the Challenge Cup. I can be a good sport though. Congrats Eldon, Mike, and the rest of the Cape May team. You fished hard, you deserved the win, and you better keep OUR cup shiny and polished for when we get it back next year! I would also like to congratulate the Ocean City Continued on next page.

A Message from the President—(continued) Light Tackle Club on their successful outing down in Oregon Inlet, you guys picked a good weekend to charter the OI fleet, fishing was off the hook! Our summer did have some somber moments too. We lost our friends Mike Cleary (Bubz) and Patrick McCusker (Scunny). Also I would like to extend condolences on behalf of the club to the Trala family on their recent loss. Buddy, I can’t imagine what you are going through. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. Until next time I will see y’all out on the rip or at the club. And since it is that time of year…. GO RAVENS!!!!! Until next time…

OCMC Bartender, Sam’s daughter Mackenzie’s first caught fish!! Congratulations Mackenzie!!
