Direct SIP Integration Method AT&T offers UC Voice customers the ability to integrate their premises‐based Microsoft Lync infrastructure with the AT&T cloud‐based UC Voice service. The Customer’s Lync administrator will need to undertake the following responsibilities to enable Direct SIP integration with UC Voice:
Add CUCM to the Lync topology
Configure the dial plan
Add voice policy and route
Add trunk configuration
Configure media bypass
Prior to implementing the Direct SIP integration between UC Voice and the Customer’s Lync infrastructure, the Customer should develop a coordinated dial plan. In many cases, the development of the coordinated dial plan is complex, requires significant consultations with the Customer, and takes time to develop.
Add PSTN Gateway for CUCM Lync recognizes CUCM as a PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) gateway connected by SIP. Add CUCM to the Lync topology by adding it as a PSTN gateway in the Lync Server Topology Builder as shown in Figure 1 and described below. 1. The gateway FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name) or IP (Internet Protocol) address is the CUCM’s IP. NOTE: Use the IP address of the CUCM here; do not use FQDN. 2. The Listening port should match the Incoming Port setting in the CUCM’s SIP Trunk security profile. 3. Select TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) as the SIP Transport Protocol. 4. Assign the PSTN gateway to your Mediation server or Mediation server pool name (for example, lyncmed.poclabs.net). In cases where multiple Mediation servers in a pool connect to multiple CUCM subscribers or publishers to provide redundancy, add additional gateways as needed. In such cases, the Mediation Server setting should point to the FQDN of the Lync Mediation server pool. © 2013 AT&T Intellectual Property. All rights reserved. NOTE: To optimize UC Voice perrformance, ATT&T recommeends you con nfigure the gaateway(s) to u use the IP address, rather than FQ QDN, of the C CUCM subscri ber/publisheer to which the gateway co onnects. er, Microsoft recommendss you run the Lync control panel, Lync SServer Managgement NOTE: As a reminde Shell, BPA (B Best Practicess Analyzer), an nd other tool s by right cliccking and cho oosing “Run ass administrato or.” d in Figure 2 tto effect the cchanges. 5. Add Voice e Policy an nd Route Each user sh hould have a voice policy ffor routing caalls. In the Vooice Policy tab b, select the G Global Voice policy to show its details (Figurre 9). The Glo obal Voice policy is appliedd to all users. The Global V Voice policy is associated w with an internal PSTN usagge record. In n the examplee in Figure 9, tthe PSTN usage points to a ro oute named R Route All creaated for CUCM M.

Vo oice Policy, PSSTN Usage, aand Associate ed Routes The Route A All route, depicted in Figurre 10, sends ccalls that matcch any patterrn to the asso ociated gatew way (the CUCM serve er(s) defined in the section n above). Cusstomers may define routes as they require; Figure 1 11 provides the e recommend ded route forr transit between Lync andd CUCM. With the co ombination off voice policy,, PSTN usagess, and routes,, Lync will sen nd on‐Lync deestined calls tto the CUCM, inclu uding those d destined for th he PSTN.

Configure e Media Byypass Media bypaass is an optio onal feature fo or Direct SIP integration. It enhances p performance by removing the need for me edia transcod ding to traversse the Lync M Mediation servver, allowing it to pass directly to CUCM M, thus simplifying tthe deployme ent and impro oving scalabillity. Benefits derived from m enabling meedia bypass:
Greatly simplifies top pology Allo ows Mediation server to co ollocate with Front End se rver or SBA (SSurvivable Brranch Applian nce) beccause of low C CPU (Central P Processing Un nit) intensity Gre eatly reduces the amount o of servers nee eded in deplooyment, resullting in lowerr TCO (Total C Cost of Ownership)
Optimizzes media flow w and qualityy Elim minates unneccessary hops and potentiaal points of fa ilure Saves WAN band dwidth Imp proves voice q quality with u use of G.711 ccodec
Media Bypaass is optional, based on de esign criteria.. Some custoomers may waant to forgo M Media Bypasss to reduce band dwidth from the Lync clien nts across the e WAN. Beca use G.711 is ggenerated byy the Lync clieent, it can increase e voice bandw width across tthe WAN. For addition nal informatio on regarding media bypasss in Lync, see the followingg: http://techn net.microsoftt.com/en‐us/library/gg412 2740.aspx http://techn net.microsoftt.com/en‐us/library/gg413 3028.aspx To configure e media bypaass: ndow as show 1. CUCILync Client Software Installation There are two methods of installing CUCILync client software onto end‐user workstations:
Stand‐alone installation
Mass deployment
The stand‐alone deployment involves a manual installation of the CUCILync client on an individual workstation (installation steps covered in this guide). The mass deployment method uses Microsoft’s Active Directory Group Policy to deploy the client software onto large numbers of workstations within the domain where the Microsoft Lync server resides. Alternatively, a third‐party deployment tool such as the Altiris Deployment Solution from Symantec can be used to deploy CUCILync to a large number of workstations. The following links provide guidance on using Active Directory Group Policy to:
Configure Client Services Framework Clients: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucimoc/8_5/english/installguide/config_clients.ht ml#wp1101243
