Work with deans, department chairs, faculty, and staff to identify and develop learning goals and assessment methods at the course, program, and departmental levels. Help faculty and departments pilot and evaluate assessment methods. Track and report end-of-major assessment strategies for all UW majors.



Conduct/contribute to program evaluations, such as that for the UW’s disciplinary writing centers, the Freshman Interest Group program, the Discovery Seminar program, the Exploration Seminar program, the advising self-study, and others. Contribute to research designs, analyze qualitative data, and write reports.



Supervise and train staff and undergraduate researchers.



Assist units in strategic planning, including Undergraduate Academic Affairs, the Admissions Office, and the Registrar’s Office.



Design and give workshops and presentations on assessment for a wide range of audiences.



Fulfill administrative duties in the Office of Educational Assessment, including helping set priorities.

Participated in administrative duties, such as interviewing job candidates; mentoring and training new IWP faculty from a range of disciplines; serving on Faculty Senate Committees and English Department committees, including chairing the Expository Writing committee.



Designed and conducted three, two-year research studies, involving quarterly interviews with 50-100 students and collecting portfolios and reflective statements from them in order to describe the writing experience of UW students. Conducted portfolio assessment workshops for UW faculty across the disciplines. Presented study results in five major reports. Conducted related assessment studies, including a portfolio assessment of the Internship Program.
