Landfill Over view Landfill site is a site for the disposal of waste by burial and is the oldest form of waste treatment. Historically landfills have been the most common methods of organized waste disposal and remain so in many places around the world. Due to anaerobic digestion landfill sites producing what we called it Landfill Gas "LFG" which considered one of the main source for biogas used in electricity production and other different applications.

Why do we need professional landfill? To treat the harmful effect of LFG  Methane is a potent "Greenhouse" gas affecting global warming.  Causes environmental problems to surrounding areas.  Causes serious damage to surrounding vegetation & crops.  Methane is a flammable and under certain conditions forms and explosive mixture.  LFG as a source for green energy Landfill can be considered as a better source for renwable energy.

For example several companies convert organic waste in landfill into ethanol, natural gas, or methanol that can be used to generate electricity and even biodiesel. For example 200 m3 of LFG with a 50 % methane concentration can produce 0.33 MW.

Harmful effects of Leachate Landfill Leachate is the name given to liquid coming out from waste buried in landfill sites. Leachate is harmful for the ground water if it escapes from landfills and can even be highly toxic due to its high strength of contamination that's why we must treat it before discharge to the environment.

Rehablitation of landfill will ensure that the final condition of the site is environmentally acceptable and that there will be no adverse long term effects on the surrounding areas, the water regime or population. Rehabilitation process includes final cover, capping, top soiling and vegetating. Any long term Leachate, gas, storm water and erosion control system should be in place and in working condition before landfill closure. 2-

Construction of new landfill sites: Landfill sites should be planned for a long period of use in view of necessary investment in infrastructure and environmental protection measures. At least 25 years.  Protective layer : This liner prevents contaminants from seeping into ground water.

 Leachate drainage systems The amount of Leachate depends on precipitation, composition and compaction of waste and the amount of water from biological degradation process and evaporation ratio. Most popular way to collect Leachate from landfill through dividing site ysing tranches and sloping the site toward evaporation pond and to suck Leachate using HDPE slotted or perforated pipes. Without exception landfill Leachate is classified as acutely hazardous to ground water.

3-Degassing system: Accumulations of Gas; Landfill gas has biological degradation process due to existence of organic materials, the amount and composition of the gas is dependent upon several factors such as the structure of the landfill. Collection and extraction; HDPE pipes and fittings are especially suitable for the landfill gas due to their high chemical resistance properties.

3- Flaring system: We burn LFG gas under approximately 1200 Cº to make sure that all undesirable gas will be burned and no unfavourable gas will be released after burning process. Our Partner for supply flaring units is Hofstetter which consider one of the leader manufacturers in Switzerland. Gasification Process It is the process in which we convert (not burn) reach carbon content materials like car tires, Coal, Wood & MSW etc to syngas. In this process we are using heat with little or no oxygen to break down the feedstock into simple molecules and converting them into syngas. Syngas become one of the main source for green energy. Usage of syngas  Used as standalone fuel  Used in production process of natural gas, methanol and synthetic petroleum fuel  power hydrogen fuel cells for electricity generation.

Advantage of gasification system      

Environmental friendly. Require very limited area if we compare it to landfill. Capable to produce energy immediately after construction. Syngas can be used in different applications not only energy production. Good solution for car tiers treatment or equivalent waste. Treat any type of waste.

Disadvantage of gasification system  High initial investment.  High maintenance cost.
