Chairman Message

O

n behalf of Enterprise Asia, I am pleased to announce that the Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Awards 2013 is now open for nomination. Every year, we seek to recognize Asia’s outstanding and most deserving entrepreneurs.

As advocators of entrepreneurship, we believe that entrepreneurship does not only provide a compelling alternative to individuals to continue their livelihood, but also serves as an important catalyst to spur economic developments and to catapult countries out of recession. Enterprise Asia was founded on the principle that entrepreneurship is an efficacious asset for sustainable economic development, and we strive to promote entrepreneurship as a way of life and to forge greater entrepreneurial co-operation in Asia. We strongly believe that entrepreneurship provides a sustainable solution not only for economic recovery but as well as to overcome other socioeconomic issues. As we champion our mission in developing and promoting entrepreneurship in Asia, it is our hope that the Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Awards (APEA) program, one of our eminent initiatives in the region will be able to recognize, advocate and promote the importance of responsible entrepreneurship amongst entrepreneurs and the general public. As such, we welcome your nominations to the Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Awards 2013.

Tan Sri Datuk Seri Dr Fong Chan Onn | Chairman, Enterprise Asia Former Minister of Human Resources, Malaysia (Dec 1999 – March 2008)

President’s Message

E

nterprise Asia grew by leaps and bounds since our inception in 2006. What started in 2006 from the passion of a few individuals in promoting entrepreneurship has now grown into an organization of over 8,000 entrepreneurs. Since its launch in 2007, the Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Awards (APEA) has expanded its presence to 16 countries, further sealing its position as Asia Pacific’s most prestigious awards for entrepreneurship. Responding to changing society’s demands and landscapes for better corporate governance and sustainable development, the APEA stresses the importance of recognizing sustainable and responsible entrepreneurship amongst entrepreneurs. It is our belief that apart from an entrepreneur’s outstanding achievements in business, it is vital for him/her to embrace a culture of responsibility in an organization, both internally and externally. Part of our mission is also to promote and forge greater entrepreneurial co-operation in Asia. In line with this, our objective is to utilize the APEA award program and offer all local and international participants a platform which encourages dialogue, knowledge sharing and networking. It is our pleasure to inform that this year, the inaugural Asia Entrepreneurship Forum (AEF), Asia’s largest gathering of entrepreneurs will be held to serve this objective. The forum will be a great opportunity for entrepreneurs to learn from distinguished seasoned speakers, and where captains of industries across Asia will network and share business opportunities on markets across the region. With pleasure, I would like to announce that nominations are now officially open for the Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Awards 2013. We welcome your nomination and recommendations to help us discover the region’s finest entrepreneurs.
