In addition to Travel and Material bursaries you may be eligible for other funding. Check if you meet the criteria for the following:

Free College Meals

Childcare

You can receive free college meals if you, or one of your parents, is in receipt of one of the below benefits and you are aged 16-18 on 31 August 2016:

For students requiring help with childcare costs whilst in classes. If you’re aged 16-19 on the 31 August 2016 you can apply to the Government ‘Care to Learn’ scheme at: www.gov.uk/care-to-learn

• Income Support • Income-based Jobseekers Allowance

If you’re aged 20-23 on 31 August 2016 and your household income is below £21,000 per annum, you can apply for help with childcare using the Childcare Application Form you will find in Student Finance. You could be eligible if:

• Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) • Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 • The guarantee element of State Pension Credit

• You’re studying at level 1, 2 or first level 3

• Child Tax Credit (provided you/your parent are not entitled to Working Tax Credit) and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190, as assessed by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs

or • You have an approved Advanced Learner Loan If you’re aged 24 and over on 31 August 2016 and your household income is below £21,000 per annum, you can apply for help with childcare using the Childcare Application Form you will find in Student Finance. You could be eligible if:

• Working Tax Credit run-on – paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit during the initial roll out of the benefit • Universal Credit

• You’re studying at level 2 or below

You can also receive Free College Meals if you are aged 16-24 on 31 August 2016 and have had a learning difficulty assessment (LDA) or education health care plan (EHCP).

or • You’re studying at level 3 or above and have an approved Advanced Learner Loan

Students with Special Education Needs and Disabilities

College Fees For students who require help to pay their course fees there is support available in exceptional situations. You should first enquire with the Admissions team to find out how much your course is and whether they can offer any fee reduction based on your personal circumstances.

For students with Special Education Needs and Disabilities the College offers a contribution towards travel costs. This includes help with public transport as well as the use of specialist providers.

If you have done this but still have a fee to pay, please enquire with Student Finance:

To apply you will need to fill in an SEND Transport Application Form that you will find in Student Finance. You will need to provide evidence with your application form, this can be:

• Student Finance will assess you based on your household income which needs to be below £15,000 per annum

• An award letter of DLA or PIP which must be in the student’s name

•You will need to provide evidence of your household income. This is outlined in the ‘Own/ Household Income Evidence’ section of the application form

• A letter showing the student has had an LDA • A letter showing the student has an EHC plan

To apply, please fill in the Student Finance Application Form and attach the evidence stated. Student Finance can accept photocopied evidence.

• A letter from the Doctor confirming the student’s condition

G VB Bursary (Guaranteed Vulnerable Bursary)

Materials Specific courses only, for essential materials only as defined by your course leader. • 100% material costs if your household income is below £16,190 • 75% material costs if your household income is between £16,190 and £21,000 • 50% material costs if your household income is between £21,001 and £25,000

Available for students aged 16-18 if: • In care/care leaver • Receiving Income Support (in student’s name) • Receiving Employment Support Allowance (ESA) AND Disability Living Allowance (DLA)/Personal Independent Payment (PIP) The Guaranteed Vulnerable Bursary contributes up to £1,200 per year inclusive of any Materials and Reduced Fare Travel Card costs.

Childcare

Travel Available for students aged 16-23 studying all levels (if it is your second level 3 and you have an approved Advanced Learner Loan apply for the Advanced Learner Bursary). Students aged 24+ studying at level 2 or below can apply for travel funding too. Household income must be less than £25,000 You can get: • 100% travel costs if your household income is under £16,190 • 75% travel costs if your household income is between £16,191 and £21,000 • 50% travel costs if your household income is between £21,001 and £25,000

Reduced Fare Travel Card A Reduced Fare Travel Card (Bus or Train) allows students aged 16-18 to purchase their journeys for the price of a child fare. It is Free for students aged 16-18 whose household income is below £25,000.

For students aged 20+ whose household income is below £21,000 using an OFSTED registered Childcare Provider. Students aged 20-23 on their second level 3 and aged 24+ on level 3 or above must have an approved Advanced Learner Loan.

Fees Please speak to the Admissions Team to confirm your course fee. If you need to pay for your course we may be able to help you with some of your fee costs if your household income is below £15,000. Please speak to Student Finance for further advice.

Advanced Learner Bursary Available for students aged 19+ who have an approved Advanced Learner Loan and household income below £21,000. You can get: • 75% travel costs • childcare cost support (OFSTED registered Childcare Providers only)

Free College Meals For students meeting eligibility criteria (see page 2). An amount of £2.41 is available daily to purchase lunch in the college canteen. Money is pre-loaded daily onto your student ID badge.
