Our team represents over 50 years of experience, and we are a leading source of innovative lighting products for Southern California’s design and construction industries servicing Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino and Riverside Counties.

Peter began his lighting career in 1996 at Louis Poulsen Lighting, Copenhagen. That same year, he left Denmark to work for the company’s Florida based company. As an immigrant, he came to the U.S. with two things: a fully packed suitcase and the desire to take part in the American Dream. Since then, he has successfully cultivated 18+ years experience in lighting and specification sales. PPeter t moved d tto LLos Angeles in 1998 and to date, has worked on some of Southern California’s most prestigious residential and commercial projects, including: Hotel Del Coronado, Disney Concert Hall, Cedars Sinai Hospital, Santa Monica Public Library, and Robb Report’s Ultimate Home 2011. His level of expertise in the specification industry has placed him at the top of his field, and has earned him the respect of some of the biggest names in the building industry. As an industry veteran, he is passionate about architecture and has a critical eye for design. With his extensive experience, Peter saw the need to better service the design community in Southern California with the best products and top-notch customer relations. In May of 2011, he launched Light Build Design as Principal and Co-Founder. Since it’s inception, this boutique firm has supported projects such as: Hyundai HQ in Fountain Valley, Pimco HQ in Newport Beach, Nasty Gal in downtown Los Angeles and Beats by Dr. Dre in Culver City. Peter holds a bachelor degree in International Business Administration from Koge Business School, Denmark. His hobbies include playing soccer, hiking, skiing, watching football, traveling, cooking and tequila.

Stefan Rohrberg relocated to the U.S. from his native country of Denmark in 1998, and started his career in the logistics industry working for a worldwide shipping company in both countries. Prior to founding Light Build Design in May of 2011, Stefan held the position of specification sales professional in Los Angeles serving the lighting industry. Stefan worked on diverse and challenging projects in the hospitality, education, residential, healthcare, and corporate interiors environments ranging from a new high-rise tower at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles and the expansion of John Wayne Airport, to the large Festival City project in Dubai, UAE. With over ten years in the lighting industry, Stefan has successfully increased sales for several lighting manufacturers in the Southern California market, and has been instrumental in helping new brands become leaders in their respective segments. Most recently, as Principal and Co-Founder at Light Build Design, he has led in the success of projects such as Google’s office in Los Angeles, Torrance Memorial Medical Center New Tower and Disney’s new theme park in Shanghai. Stefan holds a bachelor degree in Business and Logistics from Business Colleges in Aarhus and Skanderborg, Denmark. Besides English, Stefan speaks Danish and German fluently. In his spare time, he enjoys playing soccer, travel, playing golf and spending quality time with his family, as he is proud father to 18 month-old baby Julian and 4 year-old twins Christian and Chloe.

An accomplished professional with over 20 years experience, Barbara joined Light Build Design in 2014 to deepen her commitment to, and interest in, the southern California a+d community. She has partnered with architects and designers in high profile corporate, educational and institutional environments during her tenor at visionary companies such as Vitra, Herman Miller and VS GmbH. Such extensive experience brings a wealth of interior design knowledge as well as a deep understanding of conceptual and esoteric design thinking. Her years in realizing great workplaces and highly functioning 21st century schools with furniture and fixtures are a strategic precursor to her current post in representing the best in lighting and interior finish products. A few of her noteworthy projects include: the Ninth Street Elementary School in LA, the new Science + Math Building at Mira Costa High School; furnishing flagship locations for AOL in LA and mega-agency JWT Worldwide in NY. She holds a BA with concentration in Interior Architecture from Columbia College Chicago. During her free time, you may find her with family and friends hiking, baking, planting gardens, volunteering, gallery hopping, making art or listening to music.

A native of Peru, Katherine moved to the United States to pursue a degree in engineering. During her studies, she accepted an internship position at the world renowned Louis Poulsen Lighting in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where upon graduation, was quickly offered a Product Manager position. With over 7 years of experience in the lighting industry, her expertise includes electrical and lighting design, new product development, product management, lighting controls, market research and marketing. In an endeavor to further evolve and utilize her innovative skills set, Katherine moved to Los Angeles, California and joined Light Build Design to embark on an exciting new career in sales. Her vast knowledge of the industry, technical background and keen personal skills have proven to be greatly beneficial in achieving success for partnering architects and lighting designers on their specification projects. Katherine holds a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering from Florida International University. She enjoys hiking, running, dancing and traveling in her spare time.

Prior to joining the team, Eric Mendel excelled in the demanding field of residential construction for 5 years. As the Lead Apprentice to the Master Contractor, he perfected his skills by taking on projects ranging from kitchen remodels to the fabrication of new home additions. As Operations Manager at Light Build Design, Eric applies his experience and knowledge of the construction industry tackling operations, project management, quotations, and customer satisfaction. His goal is to position the company as Southern California’s industry leader for the representation of architectural specification products by premier manufacturers. His expertise and work acumen have been essential in the process of problem solving and supporting the success of major projects for Light Build Design clients and manufacturers, resulting in time and cost savings. Eric Mendel graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Finance From Seton Hall University. Eric also speaks fluent German. He leisurely partakes in soccer (played Division 1 soccer for 4 years of college at Seton Hall), ping pong and is a talented woodworker.
