MARKETPLACE MINISTRIES INC.® WE BELIEVE—ARTICLES OF FAITH THESE ARTICLES OF FAITH ARE ESTABLISHED TO PROVIDE DOCTRINAL HARMONY AND THEOLOGICAL DIRECTION AGREED UPON BY THE DIRECTORS AND EXECUTIVE STAFF OF MARKETPLACE MINISTRIES INC.®, A MINISTRY AT WORK™. THESE ARTICLES DO NOT ATTEMPT TO COVER ALL ASPECTS OF BIBLICAL TRUTH, BUT ARE THE MAJOR ARTICLES OF THE CHRISTIAN FAITH.

ARTICLE I - THE SCRIPTURES We believe that "all Scripture is given by inspiration of God," by which we understand the whole Bible is inspired in the sense that holy men of God "were moved by the Holy Spirit" to write the very words of Scripture. We believe that this divine inspiration extends equally and fully to all parts of the writings — historical, poetical, doctrinal, and prophetical — as appeared in the original manuscripts. We believe that the whole Bible in the originals is therefore without error. We believe that all Scripture centers around the Lord Jesus Christ in His person and work, in His first and second coming, and hence that no portion, even of the Old Testament, is properly read or understood until it leads to Him. We also believe that all the Scriptures were designed for our practical instruction.

We believe that after His death on the cross, Jesus was buried, and was raised from the dead on the third day, according to the Scriptures. His resurrected body is the same body, though glorified, in which He lived and died. His glorified body is the pattern of the resurrection body which all believers will ultimately receive (Luke 24:39-43; 1Cor. 15:4; Phil. 3:20-21). We believe that forty days after His resurrection, Jesus ascended into heaven to be enthroned at the right hand of God. His ascension is assurance that His sacrifice secured the redemption of all believers. From His throne, He rules in absolute authority over all things, and makes intercession for His people (Acts 1:3-9; Heb. 1:3; Eph. 1:22-23; Heb. 7:25).

ARTICLE II - THE GODHEAD

ARTICLE V - SALVATION ONLY THROUGH CHRIST

We believe that the Godhead eternally exists in three persons — the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit — and that these three are one God, having precisely the same nature, attributes, and perfection, and worthy of precisely the same homage, confidence, and obedience.

We believe that, owing to universal death through sin, no one can enter the Kingdom of God unless born again; and that no degree of reformation, however great, no attainments in morality, however high, no culture, however attractive, no baptism or other ordinance, however administered, can help the sinner to take even one step toward heaven; but a new life implanted by the Holy Spirit through the Word is absolutely essential to salvation, and only those saved are children of God. We believe also that our redemption has been accomplished solely by the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.

ARTICLE III - MAN CREATED AND FALLEN We believe that man was originally created in the image and after the likeness of God, and that he fell through sin, and as a consequence of his sin, lost his spiritual life, becoming dead in trespasses and sins, and that he became subject to the power of the devil. We also believe that this spiritual death, or total depravity of human nature, has been transmitted to the entire human race of man, the Man Christ Jesus alone being excepted; and hence that every child of Adam is born into the world with a nature which not only possesses no spark of divine life, but is essentially and unchangeably unholy apart from divine grace.

ARTICLE VI - THE EXTENT OF SALVATION We believe that when an unregenerate person exercises that faith in Christ which is illustrated and described as such in the New Testament, he passes immediately out of spiritual death into spiritual life and from the old creation into the new. (II Cor. 5:17).

ARTICLE VII - THE HOLY SPIRIT ARTICLE IV - THE FIRST ADVENT We believe that, as provided and purposed by God and as preannounced in the prophecies of the Scriptures, the eternal Son of God, Jesus Christ, came into this world that He might manifest God to men, fulfill prophecy, and become the Redeemer of a lost world. To this end, He was born of the Virgin Mary and received a human body and a sinless human nature.

We believe that the Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the blessed Trinity, though omnipresent from all eternity, took up His abode in the world in a special sense on the day of Pentecost according to the divine promise, and indwelling every believer, and by His baptism unites all Christians to Christ in one Body, and that He, as the Indwelling One, is the source of all power and all acceptable worship and service. ARTICLE VIII - THE CHURCH, A UNITY OF BELIEVERS

We believe that in infinite love for the lost, He voluntarily accepted His Father's will and became the divinely provided sacrificial Lamb and took away the sin of the world, bearing the holy judgments against sin which the righteousness of God must impose. His death was therefore substitutionary in the most absolute sense — the just for the unjust — and by His death He became the Savior. MMI Articles of .Faith (Rev.07/98)

We believe that all who are united to the risen and ascended Son of God are members of the Church which is the Body and Bride of Christ, which began at Pentecost and is completely distinct from Israel. Its members are constituted as such regardless of membership or nonmembership in the organized churches of earth. We believe that by Copyright©1993

the same Spirit all believers in this age are baptized into, and thus become, one Body that is Christ's, whether Jews or Gentiles; and having become members one of another, are under solemn duty to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, rising above all sectarian differences, and loving one another with a pure heart fervently.

We believe that, wholly apart from salvation benefits which are bestowed equally upon all who believe, rewards are promised according to the faithfulness of each believer in his service for his Lord, and that these rewards will be bestowed at the Judgment Seat of Christ after He comes to receive His own to Himself. ARTICLE XIII - GLOSSOLALIA (SPEAKING IN TONGUES)

ARTICLE IX - THE LOCAL CHURCH We believe that the local congregation of believers in Jesus Christ is the primary instrument of God in the world today for the purpose of Biblical teaching, corporate worship, encouragement and fellowship, discipling believers, evangelism and mission efforts. Therefore, we believe the Christian should make a commitment to a local church where he/she can give and receive ministry, and practice Biblical stewardship.

We are an interdenominational ministry which seeks to serve and cooperate with all segments of the Body of Christ. We realize that there is division in the Body of Christ over the matter of speaking in tongues. The Directors of Marketplace Ministries Inc.® have decided upon the following policy: Any MMI staff member who feels that he/she has the gift of tongues should practice the gift of tongues only in their devotional life or in their local church worship. Glossolalia will not be practiced or taught in any MMI activity.

ARTICLE X - THE ORDINANCES ARTICLE XIV - THE GREAT COMMISSION We believe that Water Baptism and the Lord's Supper are the only ordinances of the Church and that they are a scriptural means of testimony for the Church in this age.

ARTICLE XI - THE CHRISTIAN'S WALK We believe that we are called with a holy calling to walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit, and so to live in the power of the indwelling Spirit that we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. But the flesh with its fallen, Adamic nature, which in this life is never totally eradicated, being with us to the end of our earthly pilgrimage, needs to be kept by the Spirit constantly in subjection to Christ, or it will surely manifest its presence in our lives to the dishonor of our Lord.

ARTICLE XII - THE CHRISTIAN'S SERVICE We believe that divine, enabling gifts for service are bestowed by the Spirit upon all who are saved. While there is a diversity of gifts, each believer is energized by the same Spirit, and each is called to his own divinely appointed service as the Spirit may will. In the apostolic church there were certain gifted men — apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers — who are appointed by God for the equipping of the saints unto their work of the ministry. We believe also that today some men are especially called of God to be evangelists, pastors and teachers, and that it is to the fulfilling of His will and to His eternal glory that these shall be sustained and encouraged in their service for God.

We believe that it is the explicit message of our Lord Jesus Christ to those whom He has saved that Christians are sent forth by Him into the marketplace of the world even as He was sent forth of His Father. We believe that after we are saved, we are divinely reckoned to be related to this world as strangers and pilgrims, ambassadors and witnesses, and that a major purpose in every believer's life should be to make Christ known to the world.

ARTICLE XV - THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST We believe that the period of great tribulation in the earth will be climaxed by the return of the Lord Jesus Christ to the earth as He went, in person on the clouds of heaven, and with power and great glory. His coming is the blessed hope of every believer and brings to earth the visible Kingdom of God.

ARTICLE XVI - THE ETERNAL STATE We believe that at death the spirits and souls of those who have trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation pass immediately into His presence. There they remain in Heaven's conscious bliss until the resurrection of the glorified body when Christ comes for His own. Whereupon, soul and body reunited shall be associated with Him forever in glory. The spirits and souls of the unbelieving remain after death conscious of condemnation and in misery until final judgment. Then soul and body, reunited, shall be cast into the lake of fire, not to be annihilated, but to be punished with everlasting destruction in hell from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power.

STATEMENT OF AFFIRMATION Recognizing the need for doctrinal harmony and theological distinction, I affirm and support these Articles of Faith and will, by the Holy Spirit, seek to implement these in my daily walk with the Lord Jesus Christ and in my association with Marketplace Ministries Inc.® If at any time I am unable to believe and abide by these Articles of Faith, I voluntarily will cease my association with Marketplace Ministries Inc.®

The Divorce Policy of Marketplace Ministries Inc. A Statement by the Board of Directors

Marketplace Ministries Inc. does not consider divorced persons for vocational ministry positions unless their divorce occurred before their Christian conversion. The Biblical Perspective As a ministry we are committed to the inspired authority of the Bible for the standards of our service in the marketplace. In our society and day, the issue of hiring a divorced person in ministry has become one of the most critically debated topics among churches and Christian organizations. There is general agreement the Scriptures place a strong emphasis upon God’s ideal of permanency in marriage (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:6), and that God laments the insidious problem of marital failure and divorce (Malachi 2:16; Matthew 19:8). Therefore, we believe that God desires for those who serve Him in our Christian ministry to be devoted to keeping their marriages healthy and strong as a witness to His faithfulness. There is one primary biblical phrase that sets forth God’s standard for those who serve Him as elders or pastors (1 Timothy 3:2; Titus 1:6). The major English versions (KJV, NKJV, NASB, NIV, RSV) translate this passage similarly: An elder must be blameless, the husband of one wife. . . . A careful study of these verses in Greek leads to the conclusion that Paul’s expression is not explicit. Thus there are biblical scholars who hold a high view of Scripture with differing interpretations. On the one hand there are those who understand the apostle’s statement to be an appeal for sexual and marital faithfulness for the leader who is married. Others interpret this as a direct reference to divorce as disqualification for the position of elder/pastor in the local church. The Policy Established by the Board of Directors After significant discussion, prayer, and evaluation of the biblical data in light of the calling and ministry of Marketplace Ministries, the Board of Directors came to the following statements in order to formulate a policy to guide the ministry: 1.

We have chosen the position that divorce, except when the divorce came before one’s conversion to Christ, disqualifies an individual from serving in the position of elder or pastor, and therefore in a chaplain ministry position with MMI.. This exception is based on II Corinthians 5:17 which declares a Christian is a new creature in Christ; a new start begins at conversion. All applicants (whether or not divorced, married or single) must have an observable testimony of relational faithfulness and sexual purity, and a married person must show evidence of a strong, stable Christian marriage and family relationship.

2.

We acknowledge that some biblical scholars hold to sexual unfaithfulness and/or abandonment as biblical rationales for divorce. We will not consider these when making employment decisions concerning applicants who were divorced after their Christian conversion. To do so would require extensive investigation into the circumstances of a divorce to determine the applicability of a rationale. Such employment decisions could be subjective at best, or even erroneous and unfair because of the impossibility of gaining the entire picture. As a board, we recognize that following this policy could mean that some otherwise exceptionally qualified individuals will be missed for employment with Marketplace Ministries.

3.

We affirm, that according to our biblical interpretation, the tragedy of divorce excludes some individuals from certain positions of ministry, it does not exclude them from being used of God in many effective ways. We encourage all applicants who find an employment opportunity with Marketplace Ministries is not available, to recognize the Lord has yet work for them to do in a ministry of the Gospel. Our word to them is one of compassion and encouragement as they seek their place of service to our Lord.

4.

Divorced applicants to some administrative and clerical positions with Marketplace Ministries Inc. are considered on a case-by-case basis.

A Summary of Your Rights Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act The federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) is designed to promote accuracy, fairness, and privacy of information in the files of every “consumer reporting agency” (CRA). Most CRAs are credit bureaus that gather and sell information about you - such as if you pay your bills on time or have filed bankruptcy - to creditors, employers, landlords, and other businesses. You can find the complete text of the FCRA, 15 U.S.C. 1681-1681u, at the Federal Trade Commission’s web site (http://www.ftc.gov). The FCRA gives you specific rights, as outlined below. You may have additional rights under state law. You may contact a state or local consumer protection agency or a state attorney general to learn those rights. • You must be told if information in your file has been used against you. Anyone who uses information from a CRA to take action against you - such as denying an application for credit, insurance, or employment - must tell you, and give you the name, address, and phone number of the CRA that provided the consumer report. • You can find out what is in your file. At your request, a CRA must give you the information in your file, and a list of everyone who has requested it recently. There is no charge for the report if a person has taken action against you because of information supplied by the CRA, if you request the report within 60 days of receiving notice of the action. You also are entitled to one free report every twelve months upon request if you certify that (1) you are unemployed and plan to seek employment within 60 days, (2) you are on welfare, or (3) your report is inaccurate due to fraud. Otherwise, a CRA may charge you up to eight dollars. • You can dispute inaccurate information with the CRA. If you tell a CRA that your file contains inaccurate information, the CRA must investigate the items (usually within 30 days) by presenting to its information source all relevant evidence you submit, unless your dispute is frivolous. The source must review your evidence and report its findings to the CRA. (The source also must advise national CRAs - to which it has provided the data - of any error.) The CRA must give you a written report of the investigation, and a copy of your report if the investigation results in any change. If the CRA’s investigation does not resolve the dispute, you may add a brief statement to your file. The CRA must normally include a summary of your statement in future reports. If an item is deleted or a dispute statement is filed, you may ask that anyone who has recently received your report be notified of the change. • Inaccurate information must be corrected or deleted. A CRA must remove or correct inaccurate or unverified information from its files, usually within 30 days after you dispute it. However, the CRA is not required to remove accurate data from your file unless it is outdated (as described below) or cannot be verified. If your dispute results in any change to your report, the CRA cannot reinsert into your file a disputed item unless the information source verifies its accuracy and completeness. In addition, the CRA must give you a written notice telling you it has reinserted the item. The notice must include the name, address and phone number of the information source.

• You can dispute inaccurate items with the source of the information. If you tell anyone - such as a creditor who reports to a CRA - that you dispute an item, they may not then report the information to a CRA without including a notice of your dispute. In addition, once you’ve notified the source of the error in writing, it may not continue to report the information if it is, in fact, an error. • Outdated information may not be reported. In most cases, a CRA may not report negative information that is more than seven years old; ten years for bankruptcies. • Access to your file is limited. A CRA may provide information about you only to people with a need recognized by the FCRA — usually to consider an application with a creditor, insurer, employer, landlord, or other business. • Your consent is required for reports that are provided to employers, or reports that contain medical information. A CRA may not give out information about you to your employer, or prospective employer, without your written consent. A CRA may not report medical information about you to creditors, insurers, or employers without your permission. • You may choose to exclude your name from CRA lists for unsolicited credit and insurance offers. Creditors and insurers may use file information as the basis for sending you unsolicited offers of credit or insurance. Such offers must include a toll-free phone number for you to call if you want your name and address removed from future lists. If you call, you must be kept off the lists for two years. If you request, complete, and return the CRA form provided for this purpose, you must be taken off the lists indefinitely. • You may seek damages from violators. If a CRA, a user or (in some cases) a provider of CRA data, violates the FCRA, you may sue them in state or federal court. The FCRA gives several different federal agencies authority to enforce the FCRA: For Questions or Concerns Regarding:
