JOB ANNOUNCEMENT UNIT ONE/ALLEN HALL PROGRAM ADVISOR 2015-2016 ACADEMIC YEAR The Unit One Program Advisor (PA) is a live-in member of the Unit One/Allen Hall staff. The primary function of Program Advisors is to facilitate the production of non-credit educational, creative and cultural programming in Allen Hall. Program Advisors typically spend much of their work time producing programs, helping student groups to produce programs, collaborating with Resident Advisors in various programming ventures, and facilitating Unit One Guest-in-Residence programming. Program Advisors are expected to work 20 hours/week. This includes participation in monthly Unit One staff meetings, weekly Program Advisor planning meetings, weekly (Wednesday evening 7-9 PM) Allen Hall Staff Development meetings, and ad hoc meetings with various groups and individuals that are planning programming; take primary responsibility for helping Unit One Guests-in-Residence each semester on an "as needed" basis; have at least one allyear assignment as a liaison to a major Allen Hall committee or programming group; produce the weekly Allenotes newsletter; and write a weekly activity report. Depending on the level of initiative of Allen Hall students, Program Advisors should expect to play a variety of roles when performing their jobs. When student initiative is high, Program Advisors tend to spend much of their time in a support and advisory role; when student programming initiative is low, Program Advisors tend to spend more time directly involved in producing programs. During Allen Hall New Student Orientation and the first six weeks of the semester, Program Advisors are expected to produce several major programs, with minimal student support, and to play a major role assisting in the production of student-organized programs. These programs will be both social and educational in content. Program Advisors are not expected to fulfill Resident Advisor roles regarding rule enforcement and duty schedules. However, PAs are expected to work and train with RAs and to work in cognizance and respect for the rules and regulations of the Housing Division. Qualifications:     



Minimum of four semesters of college and 50 credit hours as of Fall, 2015 and a 2.5 grade point average OR Minimum of two semesters of college and 30 credit hours as of Fall, 2015 and a 3.0 grade point average Demonstrated interest and involvement in Unit One/Allen Hall and previous residency in Allen Hall are highly desirable Knowledge of Unit One, University, and community resources Interpersonal and organizational skills Ability to initiate and implement, with minimal supervision, programs and activities that have a strong educational component
