Our Signature Style

welcome to OUR ALAS KA

We look forward to welcoming you to the Great Land in 2014 and sharing an incomparable vacation experience together. Our Land+Sea Journeys have been carefully curated to take advantage of all that we’ve learned in 67 years here — and all that we love. Cruising, of course, is our specialty, and there are few finer places to sail than Alaska. Glacier-clad fjords, pristine marine habitat, friendly frontier ports — our mid-sized ships are made for Alaska, with their spacious viewing decks and sophisticated ambiance. We also are passionate about overland journeys. Come with us to discover must-see sights like Denali National Park — the centerpiece of every Land+Sea Journey, as well as seldom-seen gems such as Dawson City, in the heart of Klondike Gold Rush Country. Making your overland journeys more pleasurable than ever — convenient new one-hour flights from Fairbanks to Dawson City giving you more time in the Yukon. As well, our comfortable, hospitable McKinley Chalets in Denali and Westmark hotels in Anchorage, Fairbanks and Skagway welcome you at the end of each day. Alaska & the Yukon by themselves are nature’s miracles. The Holland America Line difference is the way we showcase them. A Tundra Wilderness Tour in Denali that takes you deeper into the park for the best wildlife viewing. A paddlewheeler cruise on the Yukon River. Extra-long days in port. And professional Alaska & the Yukon experts whose knowledge is broad and whose enthusiasm is infectious. Are you ready to feel your jaw drop? We look forward to making your experience as great as the land itself.

Sincerely,

Stein Kruse President & Chief Executive Officer Holland America Line

Very few visitors who come to Alaska for Denali venture further into the wilderness that is the Yukon. After the “must-see,” there’s a whole lot of “seldom-seen” in the territory that lies beyond.

“Who has read The Call of the Wild?” asks Barbara, our Journey Host, on our first evening in Anchorage. “The adventure ahead is that country. Big, wild, majestic, rough. You’re about to see territory the size of California, Arizona, Delaware and West Virginia combined. A mountain whose rise, measured base to peak, is higher than that of Everest. A river that spans two countries. Grizzlies, moose, caribou, wolves. It is the wild North Country few Alaska visitors ever see. And I think you’ll be glad that you’ve answered the call.” 24

Triple Denali

The next morning we’re en route to Denali when the luxe train slows. There’s Mt. McKinley itself, framed by the railcar’s glass dome — a preview of the magnificence in store. Denali tops travelers’ wish lists for good reason. Even by Great Land standards, it’s impressive. Picture an immense massif rising 20,320 feet, its head in the clouds and its flanks rimmed by six million acres of wilderness. This is our playground for the next three days, and the McKinley Chalet is our elegant base camp. Barbara greets us at breakfast on Day 2 with a heads-up for the day’s Tundra Wilderness Tour: bring extra memory cards for your camera. It’s to be that kind of day. Highlights: a pair of grizzlies fishing along the Toklat River. A herd of caribou grazing at Polychrome Pass. And best of all, thanks to a break in the clouds at Stony Hill Overlook, a clear view of Denali that takes our breath away. Day 3 in Denali is ours to design, and the options for the day are many. An ATV adventure? Heli-hiking? A flightseeing tour? My husband and I choose a river rafting adventure down the Nenana River whose Class III–IV rapids challenge our team of paddlers just enough to be seriously fun.

It’s a triumph we toast that evening with a bottle of good Bordeaux: We’ve conquered that river that flows past the lodge.

Flight from Fairbanks

Larger than life: Denali scrapes the sky on a clear day.

Settling into spacious motorcoaches, we travel on to Fairbanks, where Barbara is able to reserve a last-minute spot for us to join an excursion by air across the Arctic Circle to Anaktuvuk Pass. We now have the certificates to prove we’ve set foot on top of the world! Then it’s up in the morning for the one-hour flight from Fairbanks to Dawson City, a short hop that takes us directly to the heart of Gold Rush Country.

Wild West Yukon

The frontier spirit lives on in Dawson City. You can feel it as you stroll the town’s boardwalks past places like Diamond Tooth Gertie’s or as you head out on a 4x4 excursion into the Klondike goldfields along Upper Bonanza Creek. In 1896 a few prospectors found gold here; months later, some 100,000 miners headed to the Yukon. That history is palpable in Dawson City as we cruise the Yukon River aboard the sternwheeler Klondike Spirit. For a different view of Yukon treasure, on our second day in Dawson we have chosen an optional tour to Tombstone Park. Sinister name — so called after Tombstone Mountain’s resemblance to a grave marker — spectacular place, known for its jagged Patagonia-like peaks. It’s possible to hike all day in Tombstone without encountering another soul, and on our Klondike River Hike, I am struck by the silence and scale of wilderness like this.

Whitehorse & Skagway

Mushing is the state sport of Alaska, and the husky is a musher’s best friend.

28

Holland America Line

Breakfast. Who can resist sourdough scones in this land where Klondike prospectors frequently carried a bit of sourdough starter with them? Next, we embark on the scenic drive to Whitehorse. We are following the path of the Klondike Stampeders in reverse, and this stretch takes us along the feared section of the Yukon River that dashed many a boat. Overlooking Five Finger Rapids, it’s easy to see the terrifying dilemma: four islands, five channels, only one passable. En route, too, is a glimpse of Lake Laberge, immortalized in Robert Service’s poem, “The Cremation of Sam McGee.” After a day’s journey, we enter Whitehorse like Klondikers from the creeks, looking for fun — and finding it — in the high-kicking cancan and the vaudeville comedy of the Frantic Follies Revue.

Is there a more dramatic way to arrive in a place than aboard the White Pass & Yukon Route Railway? Building this narrow-gauge railway from Fraser to Skagway was thought impossible in 1898. Yet tens of thousands of men and 450 tons of dynamite got the job done. We have our cameras at the ready to capture every hairpin turn, steep grade and dramatic trestle that has earned the WP&YR Railway engineering honors on par with the Panama Canal and the Eiffel Tower. Skagway is a popular port of call, and our hotel one block off the main street is perfectly situated for exploring the town. For an aerial perspective, we join a helicopter flightseeing tour for that ultimate Alaska experience: dogsledding! Teams of beautiful Alaskan huskies greet us as we land via helicopter and are soon zipping over the snow. Unforgettable. hollandamerica.com

Land + Sea Journeys

Cruising the Coast

Today it’s time to say goodbye to Barbara, our incredible Journey Host, and embark on the last phase of our journey aboard the ms Zuiderdam. We are bound for Glacier Bay National Park — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most pristine places in the world. Up early, we order room service and enjoy warm apple crepes on our verandah as lush forests give way to rocky islands. A colony of harbor seals barks as the ship glides past. By noon, we sit opposite the snout of Margerie Glacier watching two tons of ice “calve” to the sea. Our last call, Ketchikan, is a fishing port, and so it seems only natural to join a crab fishing excursion to get a look firsthand at life on the sea. Our boat, the Aleutian Ballad, was featured on the TV series Deadliest Catch. All’s calm today in the protected Inside Passage as the crew hauls up huge 700-pound pots of king crab and more — fascinating.

Finally, a day at sea sailing the magnificent waters of the Inside Passage is the perfect way to ease the transition back to the “real world.” All the better if you add in a massage in the ship’s Greenhouse Spa while forested shores slip by. Every imaginable type of outdoor adventure awaits on shore — including zip lining through the lush coastal rain forest canopy.

Land +Sea Journeys

The mountains and wildlife of Alaska’s interior. Glaciers and whales along the coast.

Denali Land + Sea Journeys offer the best of both worlds. It ’ s Denali to the people who first set eyes on it . It’s Mt. McKinley on the map. But locals call it simply “the mountain,” and in a land of supersized everything, t hat ’ s enough .

R

Rising early in the cozy timbered lodge, I am drawn outside. Will the mountain be out today? As we learned from our driver en route from Fairbanks to the park yesterday, Denali is so massive it makes its own weather; and today’s forecast at 20,320 feet is impossible to predict. Luckily, at park level, it’s a beautiful summer morning. Luckier still, I have “triple Denali” time to be among those privileged to see the mountain in all of its glory. After breakfast — sourdough pancakes and fresh blueberries — we set off for a Tundra Wilderness Tour on the only ribbon of road that penetrates Denali’s six million acres. It’s a road essentially closed to public traffic, and as we cross the Savage River, incredible views fill every window of our motor coach. Jeff, our driver, points out a stand of black

spruce — a “drunken forest” whose trees are tipsy from melting permafrost — when all of a sudden we catch our first sight of wildlife: an enormous bull moose, drinking from the river! Maneuvering to the side of the road, we linger long enough to allow everyone to photograph this majestic animal. As it turns out, it is to be an incredible wildlife morning. We end up spotting a herd of caribou at Polychrome Pass, where the landscape is colored like crayons in a box; Dall sheep dotting the hills; and the local subspecies of bear, the Toklat grizzly. On the mountain front, however, Denali is wrapped up in a storm of its own brewing. Score for the day: Mountain – 0, Wildlife – 15. At dinner in the rustically elegant dining room, conversations flow as easily as the river, steps away.

he next day proves to be magical. It’s been hard to decide which excursion to choose on this last day in Denali — rafting, hiking, an off-road safari, fly fishing — but it looks to be a great day for flightseeing; and as I meet my nine other compatriots on the tarmac, we are giddy with anticipation. We strap into our window seats, clamp on headsets so we can hear the pilot’s narration, and begin to climb swiftly over the tundra toward the north face of Denali. Soon we are flying over an immense landscape of glaciers grinding their way down the mountain’s flanks under the weight of 100 winters. Ron, our pilot, banks the plane gently to give each side of the plane clear photo views, then flies by a sheer cliff of rock — the infamous Wickersham Wall. The scale of this landscape is breathtaking, a fact that

becomes all the more clear as we touch down on Ruth Glacier (elevation 4,472 feet) and pile out of the plane to breathe in 200-mile views down-valley, take photos and throw a few snowballs. Looking up, seeming almost close enough to touch, is the summit of Denali. Anchorage interlude

In the morning, my last glimpse of “the mountain” is from the arc of glass that domes the McKinley Explorer railcar whisking us to Anchorage past dense green forests and views of the Chugach Range. After a Midnight Sun evening in this vibrant city, we are off again by rail, traveling to Seward, with jaw-dropping scenery like Turnagain Arm and Resurrection Divide out the windows. It’s a landscape of waterfalls, glaciers and mountain valleys; and the on-train narrator makes sure we don’t miss a thing.

Spotlight: ALYESKA

A two-night stay in Alyeska, Alaska’s premier year-round resort, is featured on Denali Land+Sea Journey D4. Take the aerial tram to the top of Mt. Alyeska for views of seven glaciers and endless peaks.

wh i te thun der is the Tlingit name for the sound of glaciers crashing to the sea.

Going for glaciers

he cruise portion of our Land+Sea Journey begins in Seward, where a cadre of white-gloved stewards welcome us aboard the ms Oosterdam. I am escorted to my room by Tombo, a delightful man with a musical Balinese accent, who shows me the amenities of my spacious, elegant and quiet stateroom. What better way to spend the sea day in the Gulf of Alaska than having a massage? We are bound for Glacier Bay National Park, one of the most famous places in Alaska. When George Vancouver first charted this coast more than 200 years ago, ice extended to the sea. Now the glaciers have retreated 65 miles up the bay, leaving the newest places on earth in their wake. “Whale!” The shouts go up from the port side of the ship, and I rush to catch a glimpse of a mammoth humpback breaching. Further on, we discover a colony of Steller sea lions sunbathing on a rocky isle. By noon, we are at the face of Grand Pacific Glacier, and we are close enough to hear the glacier groaning. Towers of ice the size of buildings break off periodically and crash into the sea. I have lunch in the sun on my verandah — warm white bean soup served with silver and pressed linens — and watch the incredible nature show.

kagway is tiny, just 4 blocks wide and 25 blocks long, but it’s big on adventure. Zip lining, rock climbing, hiking the historic Chilkoot Trail — all possible. I opt for a wilderness expedition to Glacier Point, where we canoe to the face of a glacier then have a picnic on the shores of a pristine lake. Juneau is next. You can’t drive to another city from here. But you can drive to Mendenhall Glacier. You can also go dogsledding or catamaran into Auke Bay to watch humpback whales cavorting in their summer playgrounds. A day like

that is worth celebrating with a bold California red in the Pinnacle Grill. And in Ketchikan, it’s hard to imagine a more quintessential Alaska moment than touching down on a glassy fjord. The silence and magnificent nature as we stand on the plane’s pontoons in the middle of Misty Fjords wilderness is breathtaking. I am glad for one final day at sea to relax and partake in activities on board. After an invigorating morning spin class and a session on digital photo editing, I lay claim to a teak deck chair, sip hot cocoa under a warm blanket and reflect on the wonder of it all.

wonders The blue of glacial ice glistens in the sunlight. A pod of porpoises surfaces, then disappears. Snow that fell centuries ago moves from mountains to the sea. Welcome to the 49th state of wonder.

Our 7- or 14-day Alaska cruises combine pure beauty outside with pure service and elegance on board.

“THWAP !!” The silence of Alaska’s Inside Passage is broken by the sound of a whale’s flukes slapping the water. And “THWAP !!” again just to underscore the point. Alaska has thousands of miles of rugged coastline —  the favored summer playground of humpback whales.

52

Holland America Line

A small group of us is gathered on the Promenade Deck.“It’s called tail lobbing,” explains Jack, the naturalist on board, as he hands Cory, our 8-year-old, his binoculars. “And like so many of the things we’d like to know about humpback behavior, why whales lob is a mystery. But it certainly is dramatic, isn’t it?” Dramatic, mysterious, beautiful: All adjectives apply to the landscape we are cruising through this morning.

four for the shore: How to decide from a wealth of amazing excursion options? Here is advice from the experts:

ALAS KA

Cruises Overnight, the scenery has shifted. We are sailing past thickly forested shores framed by mountains in the distance. While Cory heads off to join the other kids his age for a pool party, I watch beauty unfold by the mile, uninterrupted except for the faithful attention of a steward who periodically refreshes my cup of Earl Grey. It is this sense of peace that is the reason we’ve chosen Holland America Line for our Alaska cruise. We wanted a true experience of nature and wilderness, and their mid-sized ships, with fewer people aboard, seemed large enough to offer a lot to do yet small enough to be serene and sophisticated.

Soon it will be time to join my family for lunch, but for the moment I’m glad for this time in the sun, with nothing more ambitious ahead than a late-afternoon massage in the Spa.

Get up in the air. To see Alaska from an aerial perspective is to appreciate its majesty and scale. And the experience is different every time, be it by helicopter, floatplane or twin-engine.

ADVENTURES ON THE SHORE The next morning, the Lido is bustling with breakfast activity as Tom, our teenager, arrives sleepy-eyed, his tray piled high with a bean burrito, an avocado and cheddar omelet, and fresh orange juice. Our table, next to the Lido’s floor-to-ceiling glass windows, is the perfect perch from which to watch the buildings of downtown Juneau slide into view.

Do something you’ve never done. In Alaska, that’s likely to be . . . just about anything. Dogsledding, fishing for gigantic halibut, paddling a canoe up close to a glacier. Go wild! Follow your passion. For me, it’s food, so I jumped at the chance in Ketchikan to join a small group for a Chef’s Table tour featuring a tasting menu of local sustainable foods. Double up. Really can’t decide between one excursion and another? Do both. With long days in port and long northern days of sunlight, as well as the tours’ coordinated schedules, it’s possible.

Juneau is a state capital with a glacier on top. No roads lead to the city, but when you arrive here by air or by sea, adventures are as bountiful as the days are long. We’ve opted for a flightseeing adventure by seaplane — the quintessential Alaskan experience — and soon all four of us have noses pressed to the windows of a de Havilland floatplane as it taxis down the waterfront and banks toward the Juneau Icefield. In a matter of minutes we are soaring over five massive glaciers, close enough to see deep into bottomless blue crevasses. The pilot narrates, pointing out waterfalls and snowcapped mountains. Our destination: Taku Glacier Lodge, a remote log lodge in the Tongass Forest, where a feast of wild Alaska king salmon, baked beans and fresh sourdough bread is being prepared. And as if that weren’t amazing enough, the delicious aromas from the alderwood grill lure a wild black bear from the forest to clean up the scraps! Now that’s a picture I can’t wait to email to our friends.

a day among glaciers

“... avalanches of ice that, breaking

from the front, rushed down into the seas with tremendous CRASHES

& ROARS.”

We arrive back on board too full for a five-course dinner in the main Dining Room, so instead we have a light bite in Canaletto, the ship’s Italian restaurant, and the kids head off to the movies while Brian and I attend tonight’s lavish production show.

“Steaming slowly up the inlet, the bold, cliff-like front of the glacier grew in height as we approached it, and there was a sense of awe as the ship drew near enough for us to see the avalanches of ice that, breaking from the front, rushed down into the seas with tremendous crashes and roars.” Eliza Scidmore wrote this observation upon arriving in Glacier Bay in 1883. I feel the same sense of wonder and excitement as our ship arrives. Glaciers are the centerpiece of every Alaska cruise, whether it’s the twin Sawyer Glaciers at the end of the gorgeous fjord that is Tracy Arm or the Margerie and Grand Pacific glaciers in Glacier Bay National Park. As these Ice Age giants grind their way down from high peaks, they meet salt water and calve with a sound the native Tlingits call “white thunder.” Imagine watching two tons of hollandamerica.com

ice drop to the sea with a force that rocks seals floating on the icebergs below. The day is too thrilling to go inside! We call room service for lunch delivered to our verandah. Gliding back down the inlet in the afternoon, we head off for activities that appeal to our separate interests. Cory meets his Club HAL® tribe for an ice cream sundae party, and Tom heads up on deck to play basketball with friends he’s met at the teens-only lounge. Brian and I decide on a workout in the Fitness Center then a soak in the steam room of the adjacent Spa. What’s for dinner? Halibut with corn risotto pudding, grilled venison with wild mushrooms or Alaskan king crab legs, among other entrées. We toast the day’s extraordinary glacier experience with a wonderful bottle of Northwest Chardonnay.

a week like no other I wake early on our final day at sea and enjoy the play of sunlight on the stateroom ceiling. It’s such a peaceful place: fluffy soft duvets on the beds, chilled juices and champagne in the mini-bar, and views of the coastline gliding by the verandah. This week we’ve explored the towns of fishermen and Russian immigrants. Learned stories the native Tlingits have carved into wood. And this morning, the 10:00am cooking class looks tempting. Brian’s off to learn how to stitch photos together into one panoramic view. But for me, there’s no better way to spend this last day than walking the wraparound teak deck with my eyes and ears wide open. It’s an amazing place, this Great Land, and I don’t want to miss a thing.

Booking options

1

Flexible fares

For those who want greater flexibility. Pay at final cruise payment: No need to pay at time of air booking. Flexible conditions: When booking our Flexible Fares there is no fee for making changes prior to the cruise final payment due date. After the cruise final payment due date, fees up to the full cost of the ticket apply. 2

Restricted fares

For those sure of their plans; generally lower rates. Pay at time of air booking: Full payment for air reservation is due at time of air booking. Change/Cancellation fees apply: Changes to air reservations will result in cancellation of air booking and cancellation fees up to the full cost of the ticket. Air prices are non-refundable (no money back). (See Terms and Conditions)

Government-issued Identification For security reasons, first and last names on an air booking must match the government-issued identification used for boarding. For guests with Holland America Line’s Flight Ease plan, spelling corrections or name changes may result in a higher air rate, loss of space and/or change fees. Visit www.tsa.gov for more details. Special Requests Please contact each airline directly to request meals, oxygen, wheelchair or other airport assistance. Guests traveling with other guests who originate from different cities or who request Flight Ease at different times may not receive routings on the same flights. Air Schedule Changes Due to potential last-minute schedule changes, we recommend contacting your airlines directly to reconfirm your flights prior to travel. If schedule changes occur after tickets are issued, Holland America Line may adjust your itinerary or air carriers accordingly. Air Rates/Air Taxes/Fees Air rates will be quoted at the time of booking. Air rates are for e-tickets, per person and include all flight taxes and fees. Other charges may be directly assessed by airlines or airports and are the responsibility of the passenger. Once you have booked your flight, please check the airline's website or contact it directly for information regarding baggage fees and other charges. We assume no responsibility for loss, damage or delay while baggage is in the custody of airlines. Liability and Relation with Airlines As the air rates we use are based on capacity-controlled, promotional and group fares, we may limit or close sales without prior notice at any time. If, due to any cause beyond our control, the air travel is unavailable or otherwise fails to materialize, our liability will be limited to refunding the air price paid to us. We assume no liability for any acts or omissions of any airline, including, without limitation, those involving cancellation of flights, schedule changes, re-routings, damage to or delay or loss of baggage, flight delays, equipment failures, accidents, pilot or other staff shortages, overbooking or computer errors. The liabilities and obligations of an

airline to you, and your rights against an airline, are subject to any and all terms and conditions of the airline’s ticket and tariffs. Air Changes/Refunds Prices and availability are not guaranteed until the cruise and air booking are paid in full. Cancelling your cruise/Land+Sea booking for any reason will cancel any air bookings associated with the cruise/ Land+Sea booking, and fees will be applied if applicable. Flexible Fares: No fees will be charged for changes and cancellations made prior to the cruise final payment due date. Changes to the booking after the cruise final payment due date may require cancellation and rebooking of flights. The original schedule and airfare may no longer be available, and a new reservation may need to be created at the current available price. If the current available price exceeds the original airfare, the guest must pay the additional charge. Cancellations after the cruise final payment due date will incur a fee, up to the full cost of the ticket, per ticket. Tickets are nontransferable. In some instances, name changes will not be permitted and will require cancellation and rebooking of flights. Prices are subject to increase prior to the time you make full payment for your air-inclusive cruise or Land+Sea Journey. Prices are not subject to increase after you make full payment, except for charges resulting from increases in governmentimposed taxes or fees. Restricted Fares: Full payment for air reservation is required at the time of air booking. Tickets are nonrefundable. Any changes will result in the cancellation of the air booking. Cancellation of Restricted Air will incur cancellation fees of the full cost of the ticket. The airline may generate a Future Air Credit (FAC) memo in an amount the airline determines. FACs are notations in the booking that show the guest has an outstanding credit with the airline which can be applied to a future Holland America Line air booking with the same airline or redeemed directly with the airline, typically within 365 days. FACs are non-transferable and non-refundable. Tickets are nontransferable and name changes are not allowed. FACs only apply to U.S. resident bookings. Overnight Hotel Accommodations It may be necessary to overnight guests en route to or from their cruise due to airline schedules and/or availability.

If necessary, the cost of hotel accommodations is not included in the air price. Hotels will be selected by Holland America Line and may not be at the port of (dis)embarkation. Guests are responsible for hotel accommodations, meals and items of a personal nature. For some packages, Flight Ease guests may incur an additional air cost due to a stopover. Transfers Transfers may be purchased from the port city airport to the ship and from the ship to the port city airport on day of embarkation and disembarkation only; and between airport to hotel and hotel to airport in Anchorage and Fairbanks. Transfers are available to Flight Ease guests and to guests who have independent flight plans.

Guests with independent flight arrangements who wish to purchase transfer must advise Holland America Line of their flight information at least 14 days prior to departure via fax to 1-800-628-4855. Unused transfers are not refundable. Transfers are available between Seward and Anchorage connecting to and from Holland America ships. This three-hour scenic excursion is us$75 per person by motorcoach and us$122 per person by Alaska Cruisetrain. See page 64 for more information. Express motorcoach transfers are available between the Seattle airport and Vancouver pier connecting to and from Holland America ships for us$65 per person. Cancellation Protection Plans

CPP PLATINUM

your prot ect ion worldwide

Holland America’s Cancellation Protection Plans (CPP) are designed to protect your vacation investment from loss. Be it illness, unforeseen work events — anything — CPP is a product that enables you to cancel your vacation plans before you leave for any reason and receive a refund.  Our Standard and Platinum Cancellation plans at a glance Unforeseen events do happen. When you book your next cruise, be sure to ask about our Cancellation Protection Plans to protect your cruise investment. Protect your bags against loss or damage with CPP.

CPP STANDARD Provided by Holland America Line

Our Standard Cancellation Protection Plan (CPP Standard) will allow you, for any reason, to provide written cancellation up to 24 hours prior to the start of your scheduled travel (sea, land and/or air) arrangements made by Holland America Line and receive a refund equal to 80% of the eligible amounts paid. CPP Standard is available to all guests, regardless of residency. In addition, Holland America Line (HAL) assumes an additional us$500 liability for lost, damaged or delayed baggage for guests

who purchase CPP Standard; still subject, however, to the limitations in our baggage policies. For example, we do not cover losses while baggage is in the custody of airlines. The baggage policies of HAL are explained in detail on page 87 in this brochure. Please note: The CPP Standard Plan is not insurance and is administered by Holland America Line; it provides no rights other than those explained above. For example, it does not protect double-triple-quad occupancy rates should one or more members of your party cancel, nor does it cover expenses or unused services due to trip interruption.

70

Holland America Line

Our Platinum Cancellation Protection Plan (CPP Platinum) enables you to supplement the benefits provided under the CPP Standard Plan with higher cancellation reimbursement and extends the eligible cancellation period up until the start of your scheduled travel (sea, land and/or air) arrangements made by Holland America Line. CPP Platinum is comprised of the following: SECTION I – CANCEL FOR ANY REASON WAIVER Provided by Holland America Line You may cancel for any reason prior to the start of your scheduled travel (sea, land and/or air) arrangements made by Holland America Line and receive reimbursement equal to 90% of the eligible amounts paid to Holland America Line. Note: CPP Platinum does not protect double-triple-quad occupancy rates should one or more members of your party cancel prior to departure. SECTION II – TRAVEL INSURANCE PROGRAM Underwritten by Stonebridge Casualty Insurance Company Trip Interruption: Enables you to cancel or interrupt your cruise vacation for illness, injury or death to you, an immediate family member or a traveling companion, as well as certain other non-medical reasons affecting you or your traveling companion, and receive up to 150% of your cruise vacation cost. Trip Delay: If you miss the departure of your cruise due to carrier-caused delays or other specified reasons, you will be reimbursed up to us$500 for additional accommodations, meals and “catch-up” transportation expenses. Baggage Protection: If your baggage or personal property is lost or damaged, you will be reimbursed up to us$1,000. If your bags are delayed or misdirected by a common carrier for more than 24 hours, you will be reimbursed up to us$500 for the purchase of necessary personal effects. Medical Expense Coverage: Should you become injured or sick during your vacation, you will be reimbursed up to us$10,000 for medical expenses. Emergency Evacuation/Repatriation: In the event that serious illness or injury requires air or ground transportation to a specialized facility or to return home, you will be provided up to us$50,000 in covered medical services and supplies (coordinated by our 24-hour assistance provider) to help ensure your safe transport. Repatriation coverage provides for shipment of remains in the event of death during the cruise vacation.

Important Policies

DETAI LS , details Reservations Travel agencies provide valuable service and counseling to prospective travelers. We encourage you to make your Holland America reservations with a travel professional. Travel agencies are not owned or controlled by Holland America Line. Your deposits and payments for Holland America’s services are to be paid to the travel agency with which you made your reservations. Since accommodations are limited by the number of staterooms on each ship, reservations should be made as early as possible. Travel documents will be issued only if and when full payment has been received by Holland America Line from the travel agency. Refunds for cancelled or unused services will normally be made to the same travel agency on the basis of the amount actually received by Holland America Line less any applicable cancellation fees and charges. You are responsible for obtaining from your travel agency monies either retained by the agency or received by the agency from Holland America Line. For further information, visit our website at hollandamerica.com or call 1-877-sail hal. Guests under 21 years of age must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or chaperone who is at least 21 years old; one adult chaperone is required for every five people under age 21. Deposit and Final Payment Requirements A deposit is required at the time of cruise booking. Cancellation Protection Plan is optional and, if desired, must be purchased prior to the date on which cancellation fees begin to accrue; see Cancellation Protection Plan and additional Baggage Protection for details on pages 70–72. Final payment is due 75 days prior to departure. Once final payment is received and online check-in and immigration questionnaire is completed, travel documents will be available approximately 30 to 50 days prior to your voyage date. Travel professionals should make checks payable and send to:

Holland America Line N.V. Attn: Cash Applications 300 Elliott Avenue West Seattle, WA 98119 U.S.A. Payment by Holland America Line Rewards VISA®, MasterCard®, American Express®, VISA® or Discover® card is also accepted. For faster processing, please include a confirmation number on your check. Travel professionals please note that MCOs will not be accepted. Upgrade Policy Holland America Line reserves the right to upgrade a guest or guests to more expensive category accommodations at no additional cost. Change Charges To cover administrative costs, a per-person charge will be made if you request a change

in your travel arrangements after the final payment due date. Change charges are not assessed for stateroom upgrades or for the addition of services, unless air reservations are altered and/or travel documents must be reissued. Cancellation Policy Refunds (except for amounts paid for CPP) will be made in accordance with the following Cancellation Policy for written cancellations received by Holland America Line, 300 Elliott Avenue West, Seattle, WA 98119, prior to the date on which you are to commence travel by air, rail, sea or otherwise. Cancellation fees apply to the entire cruise booking, including cruise fare, air add-ons, ground transfers, pre-cruise and post-cruise hotel and tour packages. Guests who cancel within the dates shown below for any reason, including medical or family reasons, are subject to the following per-person cancellation fees: All Alaska Cruises & land + sea journeys

75–57 days before commencing travel: an amount equal to deposit requirement; 56–29 days before commencing travel: 50% of gross fare; 28–16 days before commencing travel: 75% of gross fare; 15 days or less before commencing travel: 100% of gross fare. Given that the resale of cancelled space will likely result in a lost opportunity to sell other space, these fees are due regardless of resale. Fees incurred as a result of cancellation cannot be applied to future bookings. Refunds will normally be made to your travel professional. Travel professionals may impose their own cancellation fees. Agency fees of any nature are a matter to be decided on solely by the agency and guests. Name changes require the prior approval of Holland America Line and may not always be possible. Cruise contracts are nontransferable. Name changes and departure date changes are considered reservation cancellations and are subject to cancellation fees.

Cruise Fares Traveling with Holland America Line is one of the best vacation values around. Your cruise fare includes accommodations aboard an elegant Holland America cruise ship, most meals and entertainment on board ship. Not included are items of a personal nature or optional programs or optional activities, such as alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, laundry and dry cleaning, shore excursions, medical, barber and beauty shop services. All fares are per person based on double occupancy, in U.S. dollars. Hotel Service Charge Our crew works very hard to make sure that every aspect of your cruise meets the highest standards. This includes those crew members who serve you directly, such as dining room wait staff and the stewards who service your stateroom each day. There are also many

others who support their efforts whom you may never meet, such as galley and laundry staff. To ensure that the efforts of all of our crew members are recognized and rewarded, a daily Hotel Service Charge is automatically added to each guest’s shipboard account. The daily Hotel Service Charge for suites is us$12.00 per guest per day, and us$11.50 per guest per day for other staterooms. (The charges are subject to change without notice.) If our service exceeds or fails to meet your expectations, you are free to adjust this amount at the end of the cruise. The Hotel Service Charge is paid to Holland America Line crew members and represents an important part of their compensation. A 15% service charge is automatically added to bar charges and dining room wine purchases. In terminals, airports, ports of call and on shore excursions, we suggest that you extend gratuities consistent with customary local practices. Fares, Government Fees & Taxes and Surcharges Holland America Line reserves the right not to honor any published prices that it determines were erroneous due to printing, electronic or clerical error. Fares quoted in this brochure are those in effect at the time of printing. If cost factors dictate the need for fare increases, Holland America Line may do so at any time prior to departure. Guests can cancel (without paying a cancellation fee) rather than accept a fare increase. This right does not apply to increases in Government Fees & Taxes or to surcharges, as described below. In addition to your Cruise or Land+Sea Journey fare, you will also be charged an amount for Government Fees & Taxes. Government Fees & Taxes, as used by us, may include any and all fees, charges, tolls and taxes imposed by U.S. and/or foreign governmental or quasigovernmental authorities including but not limited to U.S. Customs fees, head taxes, Panama Canal tolls, dockage fees, wharfage fees, inspection fees, pilotage, air taxes, hotel or VAT taxes incurred as part of a land tour, immigration and naturalization fees, and Internal Revenue Service fees, whether assessed on a perpassenger, per-berth, per-ton or per-vessel basis. In the case of per-ton or per‑vessel assessments, those assessments will be spread over the passenger capacity of the ship. Government Fees & Taxes are subject to change, and we reserve the right to collect any increases in effect at the time of sailing even if the fare has already been paid in full. Similarly, Holland America Line reserves the right to impose or pass through fuel surcharges, security surcharges or similar incidental surcharges. No right of cancellation exists under either of these circumstances. Holland America Line reserves the right to reinstate the fuel supplement for all guests up to us$9 per person per day if the price of light sweet crude on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) exceeds us$70 per barrel. Please consult our website for current information. Guests with Disabilities We do not discriminate against persons on the basis of disability. We seek, to the extent

feasible, to accommodate the needs of persons with disabilities. We have a limited number of staterooms designed for wheelchair access. Service animals are permitted on board ships if prior arrangements have been made. Certain land and shore facilities may not be fully accessible to persons with disabilities. While Holland America Line endeavors to contract with companies which provide accessible services and facilities, we cannot guarantee that all services and facilities will be fully accessible. In limited situations where an individual with a disability would be unable to satisfy certain specified safety and other criteria, even when provided with appropriate auxiliary aids and services, we may find it necessary to ask the individual to make alternative travel arrangements. We must be notified of any special medical, physical or other requirements of guests at the time of booking. Please contact our Access and Compliance Department via email at [email protected], via fax at 1-800-577-1731 or via tty at 1-800-254-8669.
