The Caller ID display does not show the caller's Information

The Caller ID unit will not function until you have Caller ID service from your local telephone company. Call your local telephone company to have Caller ID installed on your phone line. Check your phone line connections. Make sure all connections are secure and connected. If it is a private call or a blocked call, the phone number will not appear.

Cannot erase all records in Memory

The Delete Button must be quickly pressed twice to erase a single call record. To erase ALL call records, press and hold the Delete Button for at least 4 seconds after you view all new calls.

Memory Dialing does not Work

Check the phone if you have programmed the numbers correctly by pressing that memory number button. Also programming can only be done if fresh batteries are installed correctly.

Cannot see the number of the caller

Did you wait for the second ring before picking up the phone? The Caller ID will only detect information between the first and second ring.

Caller's information is not Registered

The caller may have an unlisted or blocked number to prevent Caller ID identification or it may be an overseas call or you may have noise on the line during that call. Did you or your answering machine answer calls before the second ring?

Pressing a Memory button does not display number

Your Memory button has no stored number. Please store the number again by pressing the Store Button, dial the number, press the Store Button again and a numerical button to store it to the desired location.

Display showing erroneous figures OR Display is corrupt or does not work as intended

With the phone disconnected from the telephone line, enter the SETUP menu by holding down both the ERASE and DOWN buttons for a few seconds. After that, reset LCD contrast (see the SETUP section) You may also RESET the phone by uninstalling all batteries and unplugging the AC adaptor. Wait for 5 minutes before reinstalling the batteries or plugging the AC Adaptor. This will also clear all memories.

The display is faded (Numbers are hard to see)

INSTALLATION BATTERY INSTALLATION Insert four (4) "C" size (UM-2) batteries (not included) in this unit to use the Caller ID and telephone functions as follows: 1. Open the battery door by pulling back on the latch. 2. Insert four (4) "C" size (UM-2) alkaline batteries (not included). 3. Snap the battery door back into place. Note: Replacing Exhausted Batteries Disconnect this phone from the telephone line before opening the battery compartment. Replace batteries within two minutes, or the caller ID and memories will be lost. AC OPERATION (optional) To operate the unit using AC power, connect the AC adaptor (included) to the Mains Adapter socket under the base and to a Mains wall socket. In the event of a power failure the batteries will work as battery back-up and will keep all of the functions without interruption. Make sure to only use the supplied adaptor, 6V 300mA with positive centre ( ).

CALLER ID OPERATION (continued) ERASE A SINGLE CALL IN CALLER ID MEMORY Press [UP] or [DOWN] for the Caller ID memory location to be reviewed. To clear a single Caller ID memory location, press [ERASE ] button, the LCD shows 'DEL?', press [ERASE ] again to confirm. The data for that call will be erased, and the CALL counter and Caller ID information will be updated. ERASE ALL CALLS IN CALLER ID MEMORY After all new message begin reviewed, press and hold [ERASE ] button for 2 seconds. The LCD shows 'DEL ALL?' will appear to confirm your action. Continue hold the [ERASE ] button to clear all the information, then the message 'no CALL' will appear. The total call counter will become zero, and the current time and date will be Displayed. NOTE: All new calls must be reviewed before clearing the entire memory. CALL BACK (REDIAL ) FROM THE CALLER ID MEMORY Pick up the handset, press [UP] or [DOWN] to find the Caller ID memory location to be re-dialled. Press [CALL BACK] the number will display, after 3 seconds the number will be dialled automatically.

This unit can be used on a desk, or other level surface away from excessive heat or direct sunlight. 1. Set the OFF/LO/HI Ringer switch to LO or HI to have the ringer sound when receiving a phone call. 2. Set the RECALL TIME SWITCH (on the handset) to the 100mS position. For use in France, the switch should be set to 300mS. 3. Handset Cord - Connect one end of the curly cord to the socket in the handset and the other end to the HANDSET socket under the base. 4. Telephone Cord - Connect the straight telephone cord into the socket under the base, thread it through the groove toward the back of the base. DO NOT CONNECT THE PHONE TO THE TELEPHONE LINE UNTIL THE CALLER ID SETUP (on the following page) IS COMPLETED 3

CALLER ID OPERATION The phone allows you to take advantage of the Caller Identification service that may be offered by your local telephone company. Not all local telephone companies provide Caller Identification service, therefore you must make sure the service is available. IMPORTANT: For your Caller ID to function, you must first contact your local telephone company to arrange to have Caller ID service installed on your line. There will be an extra charge added to your monthly telephone bill for this service. Please consult with your local telephone company for the Caller ID service charge. NOTES: Batteries are required for Caller ID operation. If an incorrect, invalid or incomplete Caller ID signal is received, the LCD shows 'ERROR-' If only the caller's phone number is received, the LCD shows the caller's phone number with the time and date it was received. The 'NEW' icon turns on and New Call LED blinks. If the number is not available due to the caller's restriction, the LCD shows 'PRIVATE -' with the time and date received. If the number is not available, the LCD will show '-OUT OF AREA-' with the call's time and date. The 'NEW' icon turns on and New Call LED blinks. If no key is pressed within 8 seconds, the LCD will show the 'Answer-Ready' mode, and display the total call counter, new ICON, current time and date. Calls picked up on the first ring may not be logged in the caller ID log. VIEW THE CALLER ID MEMORY If you have new calls ('NEW' icon and New Call LED is lit). Press [UP] or [DOWN] to read all of the most recent calls. The NEW CALL counter will decrease. Once all the new calls have been read, 'End of List' will be displayed. Press [UP] to view the oldest calls, or press [DOWN] to view the most recent Calls NOTES: 1.The New Call LED will blink until all the new Caller ID data has been reviewed. 2.If the 'RPT' icon is turned on, you have received multiple NEW calls from the same number. 3.If you receive a call from a number stored in (previously reviewed) memory, the data in memory will be replaced with the new call's time and date and the 'NEW' icon will be turned on. If no key is pressed within 8 seconds, the LCD will show the 'Answer-Ready' mode, and display the total call counter, current time and date. 7

SETUP Note: SETUP is used to set the TIME/DATE shown on the display and to adjust the display contrast. If you subscribe to a caller ID service the TIME/DAY will be automatically set when you receive your first call (SETUP is not necessary). If you do not subscribe to a caller ID service, then use the routine below to set the TIME/DATE. The phone will EXIT the setup routine if no buttons are pressed for 15 seconds. To enter the SETUP program, the phone must be disconnected from the telephone line. When the batteries are first installed, the ‘month’ digits on the display will flash for 10 seconds. During this time the Time/Date and LCD Contrast can be set. If the ‘month’ digit is not flashing: With the phone disconnected from the telephone line, enter SETUP by pressing both the [ERASE] and [DOWN] buttons for 2 seconds. When the buttons are released, the ‘month’ digits will flash. Press [UP] or [DOWN] to select the month and press [ERASE] to confirm. Press [UP] or [DOWN] to select the date and press [ERASE] to confirm.. Press [UP] or [DOWN] to select AM/PM and press [ERASE] to confirm. Press [UP] or [DOWN] to select the hour and press [ERASE] to confirm. Press [UP] or [DOWN] to select minute digits and press [ERASE] to confirm. Note: of you do not want to change the display contrast, leave all buttons unpressed for 15 seconds and the phone will EXIT setup (Time/Date will be saved). Having set the TIME/DATE, the LCD shows 'LdS CodE -'. (Long Distance Code). This is not required for use in the UK, therefore press [ERASE ] to confirm. The LCD then shows 'CodE ----'. (Area Code). Again this is not required in the UK, so press [ERASE] 4 times to skip this setting and go to next entry. The LCD shows 'LCd 5'. (The Contrast of the LCD display. Press [UP] or [DOWN] to adjust the LCD contrast. There are eight levels (from 0 to 7, default is 5). Note : at levels 0 to 3 it may not be possible to see the display. Press [ERASE] to confirm and the phone will exit the SETUP routine.. THE PHONE MUST NOW BE CONNECTED TO THE TELEPHONE LINE 4

BASIC OPERATION PLACING A CALL Lift the handset and listen for a dial tone. Press the Key buttons (0-9) for the desired number you wish to call. RECEIVING A CALL If you subscribe to a Caller Display service (CLI), the last 150 incoming calls will be saved in the caller ID log and when you receive a call, the display will show the number, time and date of the call. The NEW icon will appear in the display and the NEW CALL indicator will blink. To answer the call, simply remove it from the base. To end a call, simply return the handset to the base. NOTES: Hello Kitty Wings and Wand will light when an incoming call is received. This visual ring signal will operate even if the Ringer switch is set to the OFF position. MEMORY DIALLING The 205 allows you to store up to 10 numbers in memory that may then be easily dialled. STORING NUMBERS IN MEMORY ! Pick up the handset, and press [STORE] to enter memory store. ! Press the keypad to enter the number that you want to program. The display on the back of the handset confirms the numbers you entered. ! Press [STORE] and enter the memory location (0 to 9) on the keypad. ! Repeat the above steps to store a different number in the same Memory location, or to store a new number in a different Memory location.

BASIC OPERATION (continued) OFF/LO/HI RINGER SWITCH Slide the OFF/LO/HI Ringer switch to the HI or LO position to turn the ringer on. Slide the OFF/LO/HI Ringer switch to the OFF position to turn the ringer off. RECEIVE VOLUME SWITCH To increase/decrease the handset's volume, slide the RECEIVER Volume switch to the NORMAL (N) or HIGH (H) position REDIAL. Press the REDIAL button to automatically redial the last number dialled. NOTE: Please note that only the last number you called on this handset can be stored in the Redial memory. RECALL AND RECALL TIME SETTING Some network services require the use of a Recall signal. This phone generates a Time Break Recall (TBR). The period of the Recall signal can be adjusted between 100mS and 300mS, by the switch on the handset.. For use in the UK and most other European countries, the switch should be set to 100mS. For use in France, the switch should be set to 300mS. Press the RECALL R button when a recall is required. If you subscribe to Call Waiting through your local phone company, and you receive another phone call. Simply press the RECALL R button to answer the new call. Press the RECALL R button again to return to the original call.

NOTES: You can store a number with up to 16 digits maximum. Only the last 16 digits can be stored and the last 14 digits will be displayed. During the storing of numbers in memory, you may hear a voice announcement from your telephone company. This should be ignored. If you are storing more than a few numbers at one time, then disconnect the phone from the wall outlet during the store process. DIALLING FROM THE MEMORY ! Pick up the handset to make your call. ! Press [MEMO] [0]... [MEMO] [9] for one of the 10 memory locations to be dialled.
