24 Day Lisbon to Nice and Three Rivers Discovery River Cruise Day 1 Depart Home Travel from home (metropolitan area) in your complimentary chauffeured transfer to Adelaide airport to meet your flight to Prague. Day 2 Lisbon (D) Welcome to Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. Transfer from the airport to your centrally located hotel. This evening meet your Tour Director and fellow passengers for a welcome dinner. Three Night Stay: Jupiter Lisboa Hotel, Lisbon Day 3 Lisbon sightseeing (FB) Join your local guide for a tour of this fascinating city, one of the oldest in Europe. Visit the impressive Belem Tower and see the Monument to the Discoverers which celebrates Portugal’s standing as one of the great exploring kingdoms of Europe. Enjoy a tasting of local pastries and a visit to Jeronimos Monastery then the rest of the day is at leisure to explore the old town or visit the famous castle.

Salamanca (FB,D) Founded in Roman times, the city of Salamanca is home to one of the oldest universities in Europe, the seat of the Spanish language, and still a lively student town. With its grand squares and medieval structures, a walking tour here is more like stepping back in time. Tapas bars feature on every street and traditional Spanish dancing is practised often. Enjoy a full day exploring this lively city.

Lisbon to Porto (FB,D) Travel north along the Atlantic coast and visit the country’s historic capital of Coimbra en route to Porto. Embark on your Emerald Waterways river cruise ship and be welcomed by your captain and crew as you settle into your stateroom or suite. Tonight enjoy a welcome reception and dinner on board while cruising past the illuminations of Porto which are lit up on both the city and the Nova Bank.

Pocinho (FB,L,D) This morning arrive in the picturesque village of Pocinho and join your excursion to the Coa Valley Museum. This impressive concrete structure details pre-historic stone carvings made by the early inhabitants of the Douro, which were uncovered during the construction of the nearby dam. Return to your ship for lunch and afternoon sailing towards Regua. You’re Invited: Join your barman for a lesson on how to make cocktails using white port. You’re Invited: This evening your highlight dinner will be hosted at a traditional local wine estate.

Day 11 Porto (FB,L,D) Located at the mouth of the Douro River, Porto is a fascinating eclectic mix of modern and ancient architecture. Its most famous export is of course fortified wine, and the hillside across from the city centre features numerous wine caves and tasting boutiques in the area of Vila Nova de Gaia. Sample the local fair in one of these specially adapted wine cellars and learn about the long adapted craft of creating port.
