Description of Categories:

Evening Gown: Flower girl dresses, Baby doll Dresses, Sunday Best Dresses, Pageant dresses… the dress is not the focus. It’s the contestant in the dress. Sparkles and Rhinestones are allowed. You will see all kinds of dresses at the pageant. The dress you choose to wear will be just fine. This pageant is not about the dress, but how you project your grace and personality on stage while in the dress. As long as the dress fits well and flatters you, it will be perfect.

Photogenic: this is an optional category. You may choose to enter black and white, color or both. We ask that you submit only headshots, 8x10 print to be judged. Photos are to be turned in by October 9, 2015 and will be returned to you at the conclusion of the pageant. Each photo should be labeled on the back with the contestants name and age and should be in a protective clear sleeve. Judging is based on the contestant’s photogenic features and the ability to come across well in print. Can’t decide which photos to submit? You may enter more than one for an additional $10 per photo, no limit of how many may be submitted. Staff will not be allowed to decide for you which photos to enter.

Portfolio: this is an optional category. You may enter a booklet or album of 6-10 photos showing different looks, different backgrounds, different attire and different facial expressions. Judging will be based on versatility of looks, expressions and posing. This does not have to be all professional photos. Make sure photos are placed in a booklet form such as a small ring folder. You will not be judged on the booklet, just the photos in the booklet. Turn in the portfolio by the registration deadline of October 4, 2014. It will be returned to you at the conclusion of the pageant. Please have contestants name and age displayed on the front of the booklet or on the inside front of the booklet. All photos should be placed in sleeve protectors in booklet.

Description of Queens Awards:      

Division Queen: the contestant in each age group with the highest combined scores in Evening Wear that does not win the Grand Supreme Queen. Grand Supreme Queens: you must enter all optional categories to be considered for this title (color photogenic, black and white photogenic and portfolio.) The two contestants (one from 3 months-12 years and one from ages 13-24 years old) with the highest combined scores in Evening wear, Photogenic (black and white & color) and Portfolio. Division Photogenic: 1 color and 1 black and white winner will be awarded in each age division to the contestant with the highest score from their photo. Division Portfolio: 1 winner will be awarded in each division to the contestant with the highest score from their submitted portfolio. Overall Photogenic: 4 overall awards will be given: 1 color and 1 black and wihite for contestants in the 3 month old-12 year old category and 1 color and 1 black and white for contestants in the 13-24 yr old with the highest score. Overall Portfolio: 2 overall portfolio awards will be given: 1 award will be for the 3 month old12 yrs old and another for the 13-24 yr old age group. It will be awarded to the contestants with the highest portfolio score.

Union County Fair Pageant “HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT” ________________________________________(CONTESTANT’S NAME) having a residence at _________________________________________ (hereinafter “Contestant”) acknowledge by witness of their signature below application to participate in the Union County Fair Pageant to be held on Saturday, October 8, 2014 in Union, SC. Contestant hereby agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Union County Fairgrounds and the Union County Fair Pageant from and against any and all claims for personal injuries, death, damages, cost and/or other expenses including reasonable attorney fees, arising from or in any way connected with the use of the facilities as above noted. Contestant further agrees to be solely responsible for all equipment, stock-in-trade, personal property, etc. utilized in connection with the use of the premises and contestant does hereby waive any right of recovery against: The Union County Fairgrounds and the Union County Fair Pageant for loss, damage, theft of such equipment, stock-in-trade, personal property, etc. This agreement is subject to termination by the Union County Fairgrounds or the Union County Fair Pageant without advance notice of penalty at any time. This agreement is personal to the Contestant and may not be transferred or assigned.
