Welcome Message Welcome to the 2nd Annual Echo ASE ASEAN Symposium. This educational program is a joint effort between leaders in cardiovascular imaging in the ASEAN region and leading educators from the American Society of Echocardiography. Throughout this three-day meeting, you will learn state-of-the-art echocardiography and how it is applied to clinical decision-making. New content in the 2016 program includes a special session dedicated to Congenital Heart Disease on Saturday morning and a 3D and Strain Live Imaging Workshop on Sunday afternoon. The international faculty for this meeting are world-class in terms of technical expertise and teaching prowess. Our sessions have been designed to provide superb educational opportunities for everyone, regardless of expertise. The meeting will be a vital resource for healthcare providers who wish to not only maintain competence, but achieve excellence in cardiovascular imaging through a variety of teaching methods including didactic lectures and case presentations. Our aim is to highlight how echocardiography is not only a cornerstone in daily practice, but continues to evolve technically to meet the requirements of cardiovascular care in the modern era. The meeting also is a unique opportunity for participants to be able to interface on a personal level with leaders in the field of echocardiography. We are pleased to be able to hold this 2nd Annual Echo ASE ASEAN meeting in the central location of Bangkok which provides a rich offering of cultural, historical, and gastronomic experiences. I hope you enjoy the meeting and take advantage of the tremendous educational opportunities available to you at this meeting.

This international meeting is led by expert faculty from the United States and the countries comprising the ASEAN region who are leaders in how echocardiography can be effectively applied to improve clinical care. The faculty will focus on the latest cardiovascular ultrasound technologies. Case-based learning approaches will be used to highlight new and established uses of echocardiography for diagnosis and guiding management in patients with a broad array of cardiovascular conditions. Topics include: advanced assessment of systolic and diastolic function, 3D/4D imaging, contemporary approaches to valve disease, guidance of interventional procedures, contrast echocardiography, ischemic heart disease, pericardial disease, and echo in arrhythmic disorders.
