Disabled Access Guide for Salisbury Green Hotel. This building has in part been adapted for use by persons in wheelchairs and persons who have difficulty with mobility or are infirm. Seating is available. Accessible and standard toilets are also available.
Introduction. Salisbury Green Hotel houses 36 guest bedrooms and several function suites which are used for meetings and conferences.
Location. Salisbury Green Hotel is located within Pollock Halls, which is the location of the main University of Edinburgh student residences. Pollock Halls is located within approximately one and a half miles of the city centre and is well served by public transport. The nearest railway line is at Waverley Station in the city centre. The nearest bus stops are located on Dalkeith Road in excess of approximately 150 metres of Salisbury Green Hotel. Lothian bus service numbers 2, 14, 30 and 33 stop on Dalkeith Road (see map on the following page). Details of timetables are available from Lothian Buses, from their offices within the city and online from: http://www.mybustracker.co.uk. Persons arriving by vehicle can access St Leonard’s Hall from Holyrood Park Road via the main entrance to the Pollock Halls Campus (see map on the following page). Persons with mobility difficulties and wheelchair users are able to access the building at the main entrance. Please note that wheelchair access is limited to the ground floor level.

Parking. Within the Pollock Halls Campus there are limited parking spaces. Anyone wishing to park within a university bay must display a valid parking permit. This includes staff, students, visitors and contractors. There are two disabled parking bays and several standard parking bays located to the front of the Salisbury Green Hotel, close by the main entrance (see location map). Please note that these bays are strictly for use by guests and visitors of the Salisbury Green Hotel.

There is further university parking, for use by guests and visitors of the Salisbury Green Hotel, located adjacent Dalkeith road, approximately 80 metres from the main entrance.

There is City of Edinburgh Council ‘pay and display’ street parking located along Holyrood Park Road in excess of approximately 150 metres of Salisbury Green Hotel.

Outside Access. The main entrance to Salisbury Green Hotel is located at the front of the building and is accessed via a paved footpath. The main entrance comprises a double width manually operated outer door which opens inwards and leads to a single width manually operated inner door which opens inwards. The outer doors are fastened open during standard opening hours and the inner door is secure between the hours of 2pm and 7am.

Internal Access. Please note that wheelchair access is limited to the ground floor level.
Reception. There is no reception within the Salisbury Green Hotel. There is a reception located in the Reception Centre which serves the Salisbury Green Hotel. The reception personnel can provide directions and any required information. For information prior to your visit please call the reception on: 0131 651 2189. Lift. There is no lift.
Stairs. All floors are accessible by stairs. -
The stairs have colour contrasting nosings.

Toilets. There is an accessible toilet located on the ground floor level (see ground floor plan). -
Access to the accessible toilet from the main corridor is via two manually operated single width door.

There is right handed lateral transfer space.

There is good manoeuvring space.

There is an emergency pull chord alarm.

The door opens outwards and is heavy.

The width of the accessible toilet door is suitable for wheelchairs.

There are suitable dropdown and support rails for right hand transfer.

There are two coat hooks to the rear of the door.

The contrast between the grab rails and walls is good.
