EC-Type Examination Certificate PTB 97 ATEX 2161

(15) Description of equipment The compact emergency light fitting with fluorescent lamps type 6108/108. is an explosion protected electrical apparatus with lampholder for fluorescent lamps with socket G5. It serves for the illumination of operating and storage areas as well as illuminated sign or emergency light fitting in case of power interferences in potential explosive atmospheres. The light fitting can be equipped for non maintained operation or for non maintained operation with switchable emergency light blocking. The enclosure of the light fitting consists of a reinforced polyester and a translucent polycarbonate part. (16) Test report No. PTB Ex 97/27520 (7 pages) (17) Special Requirements not applicable (18) Essential Health and Safety Requirements The light fitting with fluorescent lamps meets the requirements of EN 014, EN 50 018, and EN 50 019 except of Paragraph 5.2. The judgment of the charging and discharging electronics and the batteries are based on the CENELEC document TC 31 (Sec)301 January 1997 “Requirements for cells and batteries in explosion-protected apparatus“. The deviation with respect to the design of the proved lamp socket is permissible, because in conjunction with the lamp holder it was proved experimentally, that the measures of protection chosen provide a safety standard at least equal to the harmonized European Standards for the type of protection “Increased Safety“. The evaluation was based on the draft CLC/SC 31-4 (Sec) 157. Zertifizierungsstelle Explosionsschutz By order PTB (signature) Dr.-Ing. U. Johannsmeyer Oberregierungsrat
