What is a Webquest?
A WebQuest is an inquiry-oriented lesson format in which most or all the information that learners work with comes from the web.
There are several sections of an effective webquest: • Introduction • Task • Process • Evaluation • Conclusion • Teacher Page

Using Zunal One of the easiest webquest-creation websites to use is Zunal. The URL address for this site is http://www.zunal.com

Zunal: Webquest Catagories There are thousands of previously created webquests from other zunal users that are available for use. These webquests are found in a variety of categories including: • Art/Music

• Life Skills/Careers

• Business/Economics • English/ Language • Foreign Language • Health/PE

• Mathematics • Professional Skills • Science • Social Studies • Technology

Creating a Zunal Account Using previously created webquests is free to use, but in order to create your own webquest, you must register for a free Zunal account. A free Zunal account allows you to create one (1) webquest for free. If you would like to create additional webquests, you must upgrade to the Pro version of the account. this allows you to create up to 50 webquests over 3 years.

After Registering for your account

After you register for your Zunal account, you will be directed to a screen titled “My WebQuests”.

Click on the link titled “Create a New WebQuest” to begin the process of creating a new webquest!

Creating/Adapting WebQuests You are given the option to either create a brand new WebQuest or adapt and enhance an existing WebQuest. (The original WebQuest will not be altered in any way.)

Creating a WebQuest: Entering a Title When creating a new WebQuest, you will be prompted to enter a title for your Webquest. Be sure that the title is unique enough to locate later!

Creating a WebQuest: Entering a Title Once you have entered your title, this screen will appear, indicating that the Title, Introduction, Task, Process, Evaluation, Conclusion, Teachers, Settings, and Authors pages have been created. Click “Continue” to proceed.

Updating Your Images/Avatars In each section of your WebQuest, you are able to upload images to supplement and enhance the material on each page. In this case, you can update the image on the title screen to include an avatar, if you wish.

Zunal: Introduction Page The Introduction Page is included in a WebQuest to prepare the student for what the purpose of the WebQuest is, what the student Will be expected to do during the WebQuest, as well as the resources that are available to them.

At the bottom of each page of a Zunal WebQuest At the bottom of each page of a Zunal WebQuest are buttons that allow you to add or attach a file to the WebQuest, add a website URL, add music or a video, add a YouTube video, add a TeacherTube video, or add a Google video.

Zunal: Task Page The Task Page in a WebQuest specifically outlines what the student will be expected to do during the WebQuest. It also details what their end result should be. An effective Task Page will leave no doubt for the student as to what is expected of them.

Zunal: Process Page The Process page outlines how the student will accomplish the task for the WebQuest. It provides clear steps, resources, and tools for organizing information.

Zunal: Evaluation Page The Evaluation page describes to the student how their work on the WebQuest will be evaluated.

Zunal: Evaluation Rubric The Evaluation page also allows you to customize and display the evaluation rubric for the WebQuest.

Zunal: Conclusion Page The Conclusion page brings closure and encourages reflection. summarize what the students will have accomplished or learned by completing the WebQuest activity.

Zunal: Teacher Page The Teacher page includes information to help other teachers implement the WebQuest that you create. This includes information on target learners, standards, notes for teaching the unit, credits, and, in some cases, examples of student work.

Optional Pages: About the Author You can choose to provide information about yourself on the “About Author(s)” page, including your name, country, location, hobbies, favorite books, favorite movies, education, profession, personal quotes, and a personal picture.

Other Pages: Review Other Zunal users are able to submit reviews for the WebQuests that you create using Zunal. In turn, you are able to submit reviews for other WebQuests on the Zunal website.

Other Pages: Statistics The Statistics page allows you to see how many visitors (or “hits”) each page of your WebQuest has received. It also provides you with the I.P. address of the most recent visitor and a timestamp of the most recent visit to each page.

Exporting Your WebQuest The “Export WebQuest” page allows you to export your WebQuest activity as a PDF file, a Microsoft Word document, or an Excel file.

Sharing Your WebQuest You are able to share your WebQuest with others via the Internet through e-mail, Facebook, Twitter, and Digg.

Adding a New Page to your WebQuest You are able to add additional page to your WebQuest, if necessary, by clicking on the “New Page” tab (not shown).

Adding a Table/Rubric You are able to add a data table or rubric table to your WebQuest by clicking on the “Table/Rubric” tab (not shown).

Adding a Table/Rubric When adding a table to your WebQuest, you will be prompted to enter a title, and to select the number of rows and columns. Click “Create Table” when you have done so.

Adding A Quiz You are also able to add a quiz to your WebQuest in order to help determine what students have learned. To do so, click “Add a Quiz to your WebQuest” at the bottom of the page.

Adding F.A.Q.’s to your WebQuest You are able to add “Frequently Asked Questions” to your WebQuest in order to help better inform the students who are working on your WebQuest activity.

Adding F.A.Q.’s to your WebQuest

Before adding questions to your F.A.Q. list, you will need to provide a short description of what the F.A.Q. page is about.

Adding a Photo Gallery You are able to add a photo gallery to your WebQuest. These images should be related directly to the content of your WebQuest.

Adding Google Map Activities You are able to add Google Map activities to your WebQuest, enabling your students to look up and study addresses anywhere in the United States and in many other countries.

Adding a “Hangman” Activity Zunal also allows you to add a “Hangman” activity to your WebQuest. Choose the words for the game, the number of tries a player gets, and you also provide instructions and tips, as needed.

WebQuest Settings In “WebQuest Settings”, you are able to determine the language that the WebQuest appears in, the template for the WebQuest, as well as the menu color for the WebQuest.

Publishing Your WebQuest Once your WebQuest has been created, you can publish it to Zunal, making it available on the internet. You can choose whether to make the WebQuest available to the public, whether it is listed on the Zunal.com homepage, and more.
