Please note that the weather can be cold and stormy in mid‐October. Come prepared for the weather. There is no overnighting sleeping allowed in the Layton Lodge, but a warming station will be available in the Nature Lodge. COOKING AND FIRES Camp Tracy is a Leave No Trace Camp. We do everything we can to minimize the impact of fire on the environment. The preferred fuel for cooking and heating is propane and the stove, lamp or fire ring must be at least 18 inches off the ground. Conditions permitting, charcoal and wood fuel may be used (Call the Camp Desk (801‐ 582‐3663) within two weeks of the camporee to check on restrictions.) If using charcoal or wood fuel the following rules must be observed.
Campers must provide their own wood or charcoal. All fires and charcoal must be in a metal container which is at least 18 inches off the ground. Fireguard equipment (bucket of water and shovel) must be in place at all times. No fires or charcoal are allowed on the camp tables. No accelerants may be used after fire or coals are started. All fires and charcoal must be under observation while burning. All fires and charcoal must be completely dead and doused with water before being removed or being left unattended (e.g. going to campfire ceremony). All remnants of the fire (coals, partially burned fuel, ashes) must be hauled out of camp. This means that your remnants must be dead and doused, please in a container and hauled home. If you wish to leave unburned work for future campers, stack it neatly in the camp tools area next to the axe yard.
WATER, TOILETS AND SANITATION By mid‐October the water bibs will be turned off so each unit is responsible for bringing water, equipment and supplies for cooking and washing. There are KYBOs (portable toilets) situated throughout Camp Tracy. They will have been cleaned and pumped. Hand sanitizer will be made available at the hand washing stations next to each KYBO, but the water will be off so encourage youth to return to camp and wash their hands after use. There are also indoor toilets in the Layton Lodge. SKILLS The following skills will be taught by the Survivors and will be the events in the relay. Rifle Shooting Archery Fire Building Outdoor Cooking Knots Orienteering Climbing (dependent on weather) Axe Mastery FIRST AID / EMERGENCIES A health officer trained in advanced first aid will be on site during the camporee to care for serious injuries. Each troop should come prepared with basic first aid supplies and knowledge to take care of cuts, bruises, sprains. Cell phone coverage is very spotty in the Millcreek Canyon. In care of emergencies, defer to the landline. A landline is available in the Nature Lodge and in the Latyon Lodge. The camp address and emergency numbers are posted next to each phone.
In the case of inbound emergency calls, please make parents and spouses aware of the camp phone number 801‐272‐8668. Make sure they also know your unit number, sponsoring organization name, etc. to facilitate messages. CHECK OUT A Scout is Clean. There will be no formal checkout, but please be sure that you leave your campsite cleaner than you found it.
