Welcome to ZED Rainforest. Here, in the company of ancient tree stands, you’re fully and truly aware of just how small, how fleeting your busy life is. Go ahead, take a deep breath of the rich air. ZED RAINFOREST is a buy-and-protect rainforest patch protection initiative. • You invest in a land lot with furnished designer chalet (with options from a compact 640 Sft to 1150 Sft.). Only 7 acres of the total campus land are reserved for the chalets. • The Chalet you buy leased back from you, to form an eco-tourism getaway for the discerning few; The ZED Rainforest Retreat, while you have the right to stay any time you seek. • This tourism revenue will be utilized for upkeep of the entire infrastructure, the hospitality staff and to offer you a 3 pc return annually on the property.

But by building communities, getting together with businesses, governments, partner organizations, and people like you, we can preserve these lands and waters for future generations to enjoy. As custodian, BCIL’s long-term agenda here is to ensure that ZED RAINFOREST inspires other entrepreneurs to start similar programs to protect other vulnerable forests.

Take only pictures. Leave only Footprints. Kill only Time. Stunning view, isn’t it? Well, you could wake up to it every morning of your stay here. There are only 25 chalets at ZED RAINFOREST, set in a 7-acre spread out of the total 60 acres of the eco-region. Designed sensitively for this fragile ecology, the chalets overlook the magnificent, lush, greater range of the Western Ghats. Built with assembly architecture and design in a way that it dramatically reduced the transportation energy for the project. The chalets blend with their environs, disturbing none of the existing foliage. The materials were carefully chosen bearing in the mind energy efficiency, aesthetics and warmth of colours. The views across the valley to the south are set against thick forest cover, and in the unlikely event that you tire of them, you can spend some quiet time by the perennial stream that cuts through the campus, forming glassy ponds, serene lagoons (great for a dip) and graceful little waterfalls. The common clubhouse (a renovated 1920s planter’s bungalow) features a quiet restaurant, offering traditional Coorg cuisine and delectable coastal varieties. There’s also a relaxed lounge, a wellstocked library and conference area. We can even arrange a visit to local homes where you can sample some truly traditional fare – akki (rice) rotis, pandi (pork) curry, a marmalade of the unique Coorg Mandarin, and many other such mountain delicacies. There’s also a centre for traditional knowledge systems. This will help you rejuvenate body, mind and spirit.

Conferencing and Cultural Festivals • ZED RAINFOREST will sponsor and host music and cultural festivals to showcase Coorg pageantry and colour: Huttari, the thanksgiving harvest festival, Kailpod, a Kodava feast worshipping weapons of this warrior and farming clan, are examples. Most festivals of the Coorg people revolve around a celebration of Earth and the elements.
