YOUR MISSION, VISION, “WHY” & GOALS

YOUR MISSION STATEMENT

Why having a mission statement and how to create one? Your personal mission statement will be your anchor and help you make the best decisions for you to achieve the results you truly desire in any “project” you undertake. A mission statement should answer the following: - What is it you do (uniquely)? - What problem you solve or goals you help achieve? - Who do you serve or can help most? Then before every action or decision you make as you move forward in your “project” ask yourself: Is what I am about to do or decide in line with my mission statement? If your action or decision takes you away from your mission statement, you then need to reflect on why you want to take that action or make that decision. When all actions and decisions you take are in line with your mission statement you will achieve phenomenal results and be fulfilled and happy throughout your journey.

A few examples to get you started Do not overthink this, put something down as a starting point and revise and refine as you move forward in your “projects”. Remember this is simple, easy and effective J Example #1 (Melaleuca: The Wellness Company): Enhancing the lives of those we touch by helping people reach their goals Example #2 (Walt Disney Company): The mission of the Walt Disney Company is to be one of the world’s leading producers and providers of entertainment and information. Using our portfolio of brands to differentiate our content, services and consumer products, we seek to develop the most creative, innovative and profitable entertainment experiences and related products in the world. YOUR VISION

Why having a vision and how to create one? Have you ever heard the expression: “Be careful what you wish for, it may actually come true”? Your vision is what you wish for. Your vision is your wishes, your dreams, your aspirations and desires. Your vision is the “picture” or “what it is you see” in your mind when you “imagine” your ideal life or what the end result of a particular “project” will look like for you. Having a vision will help you identify your priorities and focus your energy on accomplishing what is truly important to you. It provides you with a clear path on getting the “right” things done with enthusiasm and energy. For myself the most powerful use of having a vision is that as I go about my day I am now conscious and open to “SEEing” all the great opportunities that surrounds me and that if seized will bring me closer to achieving my “projects”. Yes, I know, quite wonderful indeed. Creating your vision is truly fun to do, you simply need to dream BIG, let your imagination run WILD and externalize what you visualize on paper. You can create a bullet point list, a vision board (a collage of various inspiring pictures and words), a vision story narrative etc. Tanya Auger | Wellness Coach, Speaker and Trainer [email protected] © 2016 · ascensiacoaching.com · Owned by Ascensia Coaching · All Rights Reserved Be Empowered & Take Action

YOUR “WHY”

Why having a “why” is important and how to create one? Simply put your “why” is what will keep you going when the going gets tough! The stronger and more meaningful your “why” the easier it will be for you to keep on moving forward regardless of the obstacles encountered throughout your journey. Your “why” is personal to you. When you create your “why” think about the following questions: - Why are the Melaleuca Products important to me? - What would be supplementing my current income, replacing my current income or creating an income of ($$$ - fill in the number here) mean to me?

YOUR GOALS

Why having goals are important and how to create them? Having goals is a sure way to get you moving in the “right” direction towards realizing your mission and vision. Also it allows you to have control over what it is you want and desire to do, what is important to you and your daily priorities. Identifying your goals will bring you closer to achieving the results you aspire to as opposed to going through the daily motions, day after day, hours after hours and slowly moving away, far away from achieving your dreams. Think of your goals as your own personal “project” map, where you see a big red dot or pointing arrow indicating where it is you want to land. Once you have clearly identified that big red dot on your map (your goals) you will then use your monthly action plan, which will provide you the detailed directions on how to get there, that will allow you to fill in the gap between where you currently stand to where it is you want to land. I recommend starting to identify no more than 3 to 5 goals for the next 12 months. When you try to achieve too much at the same time you end up not accomplishing anything or very little because you easily get overwhelmed and discouraged with all that it is you want and desire to do. By the way, the best part is that whatever you identify now as your top 3, 4 or 5 goals, remember that they are not cast in stone, you can revise as you move forward on your business journey. What is important to you and your priorities may change along the way as other opportunities shows up and you gain additional information.

So for the time being, just do it and identify your top 3, 4 or 5 goals for the coming year. - Where do you want to be in a year from now? - What will your life look like in a year from now? There is a very well known approach to easily, simply and effectively creating goals, called SMART. S - Specific Be clear and leave no room for interpretation Example: Not specific: I want to loose weight Specific: I will attain my ideal weight of 145 pounds M - Measurable Quantify your goal (145 pounds) to be able to measure your achievement against it and revise your actions and behaviours if need be. Example: Not measurable: I want to loose weight Measurable: I want to attain my ideal weight of 145 pounds A - Attainable Be bold, get out of your comfort zone, dream big, push yourself to go faster and further than you ever thought possible, but you still need to keep 1 foot on the ground and be realistic. Wanting to be a millionaire in 1 month when you have over $100,000 in debt and no savings may be stretching it a bit too much! J R - Relevant Is your goal in line with your mission statement and your vision? Will your goal allow you to do, be or have what is truly important to you? Is your goal in line with your personal values and principles or goes against everything you believe in? T - Time bound Give yourself a deadline to achieving your goal. This will give you the necessary push to do all that it takes to make it happen. Setting a deadline to any goal will challenge yourself and keep you focus on the tasks as hand. Example: Not timebound: I want to loose weight Timebound: I want to attain my ideal weight of 145 pounds by end of September 2016 Tanya Auger | Wellness Coach, Speaker and Trainer [email protected] © 2016 · ascensiacoaching.com · Owned by Ascensia Coaching · All Rights Reserved Be Empowered & Take Action
