WINTER 2016 | LOOKBOOK

Introducing…

The Calligraphy Cut This revolutionary cutting technique will be a total game-changer if you’re craving more volume, texture and body in your hair. New and exclusive to Maurice Meade salons in WA, the CALLIGRAPHY CUT uses a precise blade tool rather than scissors to slice hair at a precise angle to increase the circumference of each strand; which in simple terms, means more volume with seamless layers and lines. It is designed specifically for long, fine hair that lacks body, but can also be used on thicker hair to create a more weightless feel.

Colour Contouring

The best part about this technique is that it makes daily styling a breeze. The shape of the Calligraphy tool allows your hairdresser can cut your hair in the direction you want it to fall, meaning less time struggling with your hairdryer or flat iron each morning.

CONTOURING – it has been a makeup buzz word for the past few years, and in 2016 the trend is moving into hair colour. Much like the makeup technique, hair colour contouring is all about working with the placement of highlights and lowlights to sculpt the face.

Contouring – it has been a makeup buzz word for the past few years, and in 2016 the trend is moving into hair colour. Much like the makeup technique, hair colour contouring is all about working with the placement of highlights and lowlights to sculpt the face. The process begins with analysing the face shape to see which areas need to be lifted, widened or elongated. Lighter tones give the illusion of more space, while darker tones can make areas look smaller; your colourist uses these principles to create a tailored colour to flatter your face. We pair colour contouring techniques with our Personalised Colour Chemistry system to find the perfect face sculpting colour that also brightens your skin and enhances your eyes. Face Framing Colour Face framing colour is so important, which is why our Personalised Colour Chemistry consultations are designed to help discover the perfect tone to flatter and enhance your complexion. Cam’s hair was cut using the Calligraphy technique, which creates soft texture while removing excess weight for airy, free flowing movement.

Highlight + Enhance This luminous blonde was created using colour contouring techniques, with freehand highlights that brighten and illuminate the complexion and a slightly darker under section to make the hair appear fuller. Long hair can be difficult to style, so it’s important to cut longer hair in a way that boosts body and volume. We used the Calligraphy tool to cut subtle layers that shape Kasey’s longer hair and help it hold curls.

Effortless Texture

Fringes are Back

Maddie’s hair was cut using the Calligraphy Cut technique to create fine, weightless layers that enhance volume, texture and movement.

Fringes are back this season and there are so many ways to wear them! They’re a great way to change up a long hairstyle without losing length. If you’re thinking about getting a fringe, always consider your hair texture and face shape before making the commitment.

Subtle, multi-tonal highlights have been used to add depth and dimension. These highlights are deeper at the roots, fading into a slightly lighter copper towards the ends to contour the face.

Feminine Edge

Face Sculpting Colour

If you love versatility and want to streamline your daily hair styling routine, consider a pixie cut. While this cut is short, it is incredibly versatile and the gently tapered hairline gives it a soft, feminine feel.

This vibrant copper colour has contoured lowlights around the face to add depth and make the eyes and cheekbones pop. The cut has subtle layers that make it versatile and easy to wear either sleek and straight or with voluminous texture.

TRY Maintain an icy, silver blonde like this at home with L’Oreal Serie Expert Silver Shampoo ($26).

Pastel Pixie

Asymmetrical Textured Bob

This playful look was created using Evo Hair Fabuloso Pro – a conditioning temporary colour solution that can be applied in-salon and lasts up to 6 washes. As the colour has a conditioning base, it helps to hydrate and soften the hair while it colours.

This look is all about texture, in both the cut and colour. We used the Calligraphy technique to give feathered texture that makes this cut low maintenance and versatile. It looks great worn straight, with beachy texture or even in loose curls. To further enhance the texture and body of the haircut, we used a variation of contrasting highlights and lowlights. The highlights really brighten and lighten the overall colour, while the deeper lowlights keep the hair glossy and in good condition.

The Fabuloso Pro colour conditioners are not just restricted to pastel shades, and are designed to be used as a colour reviving conditioning treatment between appointments to give your colour longer life and shine. Your colourist can custom mix a bottle of take-home Fabuloso Pro to exactly match your hair colour.

Clean + Icy

Deep, Glossy Brunette

The cool-girl blonde of the moment is clean and icy. Maintenance for this shade is down to selecting the right home hair care products and keeping your hair protected and nourished. Opt for Olaplex applied insalon with your colour and continue with the Olaplex No 3 treatment at home.

This deep, glossy brunette accentuates Holly’s darker features and has a subtle colour variation to keep it looking natural. We used L’Oreal Blond Studio Sunkissed Lightening Oil over Holly’s mid lengths and ends to bring out her natural highlights for a more luminous look.

Natalie’s hair is naturally fine, so this long textured cut boosts volume at the roots to give her texture and lift.

Maintaining healthy, luminous hair is down to treating your hair right. Take the guesswork out of choosing the right products and see your hairdresser for a Kérastase hair and scalp diagnosis. A hairdresser prescribed home hair care routine will transform your hair and scalp for the better.

TRY Keep platinum blonde locks looking and feeling healthy by using repairing and hydrating products in your home haircare routine. We recommend the Kérastase Therapiste collection, which includes products that can be tailored to suit both fine and thick hair.
