Exercise book and examination papers • Work through lesson work again – highlight key points, make extra revision notes and complete extra questions on the topics as necessary • Ensure that your child has acted on their EBI points from the examination papers. • Ask the teacher for extra copies of the examination papers so that questions can be completed again and see what has been remembered or improved on.

Practice makes perfect! THE BEST WAY TO REVISE FOR MATHS IS BY DOING LOTS AND LOTS OF QUESTIONS. THE REVISION TACTICS THAT YOU USE

FOR OTHER SUBJECTS, LIKE TAKING NOTES OR DRAWING MIND MAPS, WON’T WORK AS WELL FOR MATHS COMPARED WITH DOING LOTS OF PRACTICE QUESTIONS!

Revision guide and workbook • Higher books (light blue) or Foundation books (light green) are available from Mrs Penn for £2 each (£4 for both the revision guide and workbook). • Use the revision guide to find the key information, and try the questions on the same page of the workbook to see if you can apply it to examination-style questions. (Each page in the revision guide relates to the same page in the workbook!)

Example! • We are going to watch the MathsWatch video on Stratified Sampling (a key grade A topic from the GCSE exam). • Find the same video on your MathsWatch account. • Now – see if you can answer the questions on the worksheet (which can be printed directly from the clip). • Can you find Stratified Sampling on the other websites too?

How can you monitor the maths revision that your child is completing? • As maths revision involves lots of practice, your child could show you the completed worksheets and exam questions that they have printed off or written down (they can also bring these in for their maths teacher to mark and give feedback). • On mymaths, you can login using your child’s account to see which online homework assignments they have completed.

Any questions? • Thank you for attending this evening. Please complete the evaluation form and hand in at the door. • You can get in touch with the academy at any time should you have any further queries about maths GCSE preparation. • Good luck!
