Credits counting towards endorsement may be gained over more than one year and at more than one level, but must be gained at the level of the certificate or above.

NCEA Subject Endorsement Students will receive an Excellence endorsement if they gain 14 or more credits at Excellence level, while students gaining 14 or more credits at Merit (or Merit and Excellence) will gain a Merit endorsement. For Couse Endorsement, at least 3 of the 14 credits must be from internally assessed standards, and 3 from external assessment (national examinations), to demonstrate students are competent in both forms of assessment. Smart Goal Setting Write down the steps you will take

Write down your goal

Set your goal

Review and reset your goal to keep moving forward

When you set your goals you need to follow the SMART steps:

Specific Measurable Achievable Realistic Time Frame

Be clear about what you want to achieve Make sure you will be able to track your progress Make sure it is doable Make sure it is a sensible thing to achieve Set a timeframe or deadline

Smart Goal Setting You are required to make three goals that you will work towards achieving this year. 1.

One academic goal

2.

One attendance goal

3.

One co-curricular goal

These goals will help you to improve your academic performance from where you are right now to where you want to be at the end of 2015. Academic goal This goal should be about what you want to achieve for NCEA this year. It may include achieving an overall endorsement, a subject endorsement, University Entrance, Literacy, Numeracy etc. Example – I will gain Level One NCEA with a Merit Endorsement by the end of 2015. I will achieve this goal by; preparing and completing all assessment tasks, understanding and working towards a merit grade in all assessments, attending all classes, asking for assistance when needed and revise on class work on regular basis. Attendance goal This goal will be the same for all students. However, you must explain how you will achieve this using the SMART goal steps. Goal – I will attend school 90% or more during 2015. Example – I will do this by being organised with my routines at home in the morning (e.g. alarm, breakfast, walking time etc.), attending all classes and by not taking days off without reason. Co-curricular goal Throughout the year, it is important to be involved in a co-curricular group as this will help you to develop further skills. Example – I will join Samoan group this year. I will make sure I practice the pieces that we will be performing. I will attend all rehearsals on time and participate in competitions.
