About This Manual Purpose The purpose of this Installation and Operation Manual is to provide explanations and procedures for installing, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting the Schneider Electric Xantrex GT30 E 30 kW Grid-Tie Photovoltaic Inverter.

Scope This Manual provides safety guidelines and information about installing, operating, and troubleshooting the unit.

Audience This Manual is intended for anyone who needs to install or operate the Xantrex GT30 E 30 kW Grid-Tie Photovoltaic Inverter. Operators must be familiar with all the safety regulations pertaining to operating high-voltage equipment as dictated by local code. Operators must also have a complete understanding of this equipment’s features and functions.

Organization This Manual is organized into five chapters and one appendix. Chapter 1, “Planning” contains information about the features and functions of the Xantrex GT30 E 30 kW Grid-Tie Photovoltaic Inverter. Chapter 2, “Installation” contains information about planning for and installing the Xantrex GT30 E 30 kW Grid-Tie Photovoltaic Inverter. The topics in this chapter are organized as follows: Chapter 4, “Troubleshooting” contains information and procedures for troubleshooting the Xantrex GT30 E 30 kW Grid-Tie Photovoltaic Inverter. It provides descriptions of common situations and errors that may occur and provides possible solutions for resolving fault conditions. It also provides instructions for clearing faults manually, if required. Chapter 5, “Maintenance” contains information and procedures for performing service and maintenance on the Xantrex GT30 E 30 kW Grid-Tie Photovoltaic Inverter. Appendix A provides the environmental and electrical specifications for the Xantrex GT30 E 30 kW Grid-Tie Photovoltaic Inverter.

Before installing the Xantrex GT30 E, read all instructions, cautionary markings, and all other appropriate sections of this manual. Failure to adhere to these warnings could result in severe shock or possible death. Exercise extreme caution at all times to prevent accidents.

General Safety Precautions 1. When installing the Xantrex GT30 E use only components recommended or sold by Schneider Electric. Doing otherwise may result in a risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons, and will void the warranty. 2. Do not attempt to operate the Xantrex GT30 E if it has been dropped or received more than cosmetic damage during transport or shipping. If the Xantrex GT30 E is damaged, or suspected to be damaged, see the “Warranty and Return Information” section of this manual. 3. To reduce the risk of electrical shock, lockout and tag the Xantrex GT30 E before attempting any maintenance, service, or cleaning.

Information on Component Use If you want to integrate your own components into the system, observe the following information.

Information on Personal Safety Follow these instructions to ensure your safety while working with the Xantrex GT30 E. •

Never work alone when servicing this equipment. A team of two is required until the equipment is properly de-energized, locked out and tagged, and verified de-energized with a meter.



Thoroughly inspect the equipment prior to energizing. Verify that no tools or equipment have inadvertently been left behind.

Note the following information on personal safety: •

The device conforms to the requirements according to Low Voltage Directive 73/23/EWG and 2006/95/CE.

Safety-related Information on Working on the Inverter WARNING: Danger from live, moving, or rotating parts Inverters may have live, moving, or rotating parts in accordance with their enclosure, especially during operation. Unauthorized removal of the required covers, improper use, incorrect installation, or incorrect operation can lead to death or severe bodily injury. As a principle, all necessary safety measures must be taken prior to touching components.

Qualified Personnel Only qualified personnel should perform the transportation, installation, and initial operation and maintenance of the Xantrex GT30 E, and they must have an understanding of IEC 364 or CENELEC HD 384 or DIN VDE 0100 and IEC 664 or DIN VDE 0110. Follow all national accident prevention regulations. Qualified personnel, within the meaning of these basic safety regulations, are people who are familiar with the installation, assembly, startup, and operation of the Xantrex GT30 E and have the appropriate qualifications with respect to their functions. In addition, qualified personnel must be familiar with all safety-relevant information and measures of the product documentation.

High Voltage WARNING: Danger from high voltage High voltage can lead to death or severe bodily injury through improper handling or disregard of safety-related information. Voltages above 800 V occur during operation of this device. Such voltage can even be present after shutdown. Make sure only qualified personnel works on the device. Make sure that the five safety rules, the warning notices of this manual, and the safety-related information on the product itself are strictly observed.

WARNING: Danger of high DC voltage at the photovoltaic generator As soon as a photovoltaic generator is exposed to direct solar radiation, the danger of electric shock at the exposed connections arises. To reduce this risk of electric shock during installation, cover the photovoltaic generator with photo-resistant material and measure the voltage at the connections before you touch them.

Discharge of Intermediate Circuit Voltage WARNING: Discharge time of the intermediate circuit capacitors After disconnecting the supply voltage, high voltage is still supplied at the intermediate circuit capacitors. This can lead to death or severe bodily injury through improper handling or disregard of the safety-related information. The intermediate circuit capacitors require a discharge time of up to 5 minutes before they are discharged to a harmless value (< 60 V). After disconnecting the supply voltage, comply with the discharge time of 5 minutes before starting maintenance or repair work, and do not touch the device during this time. Measure the voltage after the discharge time has elapsed.

WARNING: Danger from auxiliary supplies Auxiliary voltage remains even after shutdown. Touching live parts can lead to death or severe bodily injury. Always wait for the discharge times stated on the product and in the product documentation to elapse, and strictly observe the five safety rules while working (“Compliance with the Five Safety Rules” on page v).

Safety Measures While Working on the Device WARNING: General safety measures while working on the device Observe the following instructions for your personal safety: •

Only work on the device after the discharge time has elapsed.



During normal operation, leave covers at their mounting place and keep the lid closed.



Do not use damaged or defective measuring equipment.



Protect the superordinate power switch from unintentional restart in the OFF position, for example, by extending the switch drawer while you are working on the connected machine or on the machine's supply line.



Always work on the device in compliance with national and local regulations.

Hot Surfaces CAUTION: Protection against burns Certain components, such as the heat sink or filter reactor, heat up during operation. These components can remain hot after operation. Touching hot surfaces can cause severe bodily injury such as skin burns. Never touch hot components immediately after shutting down the inverter. Always take appropriate precautions before touching parts.

Standards and Guidelines for the Conventional Use of Solar Inverters The Xantrex GT30 E inverter conforms to the following directives and standards with CE marking: •

European Low Voltage Directive 73/23/EWG and 2006/95/CE, according to EN 50178 Generators on low voltage network.



EMC directive 89/336/EEC, according to: •

DIN EN 61000-6-1 “Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC): Generic standards – immunity for residential, commercial and light industrial environments”



DIN EN 61000-6-2 “Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) Part 6-2: Generic standards – interference resistance for industrial environment”

The Xantrex GT30 E inverter was developed for interactive grid operation. It is equipped with over-current and temperature protection, and it monitors voltage and frequency of the mains power supply and automatically stops current flow as soon as the mains power supply conditions deviate from the standard level. Information on the shut-down thresholds can be found in “System Specifications” on page A–2. The Xantrex GT30 E is equipped with a high-frequency transformer which ensures galvanic separation between the DC side and the AC grid connection. The Xantrex GT30 E conforms to the VDEW guideline for the connection and parallel operation of inverters in the low-voltage grid, RD 1663/2000 from September 29, 2000 (Spain), and RD 661/2007 from May 26, 2007 (Spain) regarding photovoltaic plants in the low-voltage grid. Comply with the following points to properly and safely operate this device: •

appropriate transport



adequate storage



setup and installation by qualified personnel



correct operation



regular maintenance

The device must only be used for applications recommended and approved by Schneider Electric and only in connection with external devices and components recommended and approved by Schneider Electric. Important: Observe and always comply with local safety regulations and national safety guidelines.

Safety Information Comply with the following safety information.

WARNING: Secure installation location This inverter is designed to be used in industrial installations. Improper operation, incorrect handling, and inadequate maintenance and access by unauthorized personnel can lead to accidents resulting in death, severe bodily harm, or property damage. When operating the inverter outside of industrial environments, secure the installation location against unintentional access by appropriate means (e.g. safety fences) and suitable signage. Set up the inverter in electrical rooms that are accessible only by qualified personnel. If not possible, make sure that the inverter casing is locked against unintentional access. Attach warning signs indicating that the inverter may be operated, maintained, and serviced only by qualified personnel.

Electrostatic Sensitive Devices (ESD) ESD Guidelines CAUTION: Electrostatic discharge Electrostatic assemblies contain electrostatic sensitive devices. These components can easily be destroyed if not handled properly. Observe the following instructions to avoid property damage. •

Only touch electronic assemblies if it is absolutely essential to perform work on them.



If electronic assemblies must be touched, the body of the relevant person must be electrostatically discharged and grounded immediately before the work.



Do not let electronic assemblies touch electrical insulation material such as plastic foil, plastic parts, isolating table covers, or clothing made from synthetic fibres.



Only place assemblies on bases or mats which are made of conductive material.



Only store and transport electronic assemblies in conductive packaging such as metallized plastic or metal containers.

Electronic assemblies that were improperly stored, transported, and shipped could be damaged. Information on Electromagnetic Fields Safety Instructions WARNING: Electromagnetic fields “electrosmog” Electromagnetic fields are generated during the operation of electrical power engineering systems, such as transformers, power converters, or motors. Electronic devices can be disturbed by electromagnetic fields, which can cause them to malfunction. The functioning of devices such as cardiac pacemakers can be affected this way, which may lead to adverse health effects or even death. Persons with pacemakers are thus prohibited from being in these areas. The system operator is obligated to protect employed personnel from potential harm by using suitable measures, markings, and warnings. •

Observe the applicable national safety and security regulations. For the Federal Republic of Germany, the German Employer's Liability Insurance Association guidelines BVG B11 and BGR B11 apply to electromagnetic fields.



Attach applicable warning notices.

Radio and Mobile Phones Safety Instructions CAUTION: Radio phones If you employ radio phones > 2 W in the immediate vicinity of the device, the following property damage, among other property damage, can occur: •

Glitches could be generated during the operation of the power converter.



Line segments could be damaged.



The power converter could turn off.



Contactors could rattle.



Binary outputs could be disturbed.

Do not employ radio phones > 2 W in the immediate vicinity of the device. Maintain a distance of > 1 m from the device if using radio phones with lower performance.

CAUTION: Mobile phones If you use mobile phones in the vicinity of the device, glitches may occur during the operation of the power converter. Turn off mobile phones in the vicinity of the device.

Planning

Product Description Preface The Xantrex GT30 E solar inverter is a product for feeding solar energy into the low-voltage grid, in Europe as well as in Asia. Through the use of a high frequency transformer for galvanic separation of the photovoltaic generator and the grid, an especially small and lightweight design is possible. Simple installation and operation ensures quick initial startup and high operation safety. The Xantrex GT30 E employs the Maximum Power Point Tracking principle (MPPT) to maximize the energy generated by the photovoltaic modules. The latest IGBT-based switchgear technology comes into operation to reduce energy loss during the conversion process. In larger systems or in case of retroactive expansion, several inverters can be connected in parallel. The Xantrex GT30 E, developed for operation in Europe, complies with the applicable European guidelines, bears the CE label, fulfils the requirements of the Royal Decree (RD 1663/2000 and RD 661/2007), Spain, and is EMC-tested.

Storage •

Inverters are highly-sensitive electronic devices. Pay attention to the labels and warning notices on the packaging.



Only transport the devices in modern, air-suspended freight vehicles on paved roads. If you cannot maintain these conditions, package the devices according to the special requirements. In this case, consult Schneider Electric for equipment such as shippable packaging.



An eyelet is provided in centre of the inverter's top for the purpose of lifting it with a crane.

Storage CAUTION: Storage Outdoor storage will destroy the inverters! Only store in dry spaces. Store the devices with intact packaging only in a dry, potentially heated storage space. Mechanical Installation CAUTION: Inverter damage caused by incorrect installation The inverter must be installed in a vertical position. There must be at least 20 cm of space below and above the device as well as between it and other objects, to ensure that inflow and outflow of cooling air are not obstructed. Multiple inverters must not be mounted on top of each other.

WARNING: Danger of electric shock The Xantrex GT30 E housing must only be opened in a discharged condition. You must open the inverter housing to reach the connection terminals. To do so, loosen the four quick-release screws on the front of the device.

AC Connection AC Disconnect Important: Observe the regulations of the local utility Gather information to determine whether your local utility specifies a grid disconnect. In order to disconnect the inverter from the low-voltage grid, i.e. for maintenance or initial startup, the Xantrex GT30 E already contains an AC contactor which constitutes an approved inverter disconnection point from the grid.

AC Connection In order to connect the AC power lines, a terminal block is provided on the lower left of the device next to the network contactor. The cross section of the connection cables (cable type: NYM or NYY, for example) must be measured corresponding to the maximum current. Information on currents is found in “System Specifications” on page A–2. The permissible cross section of the connection cables is either 0.5 to 35 mm² inflexible or 0.5 to 25 mm² flexible. The phases are connected to the L1, L2, and L3 terminals, and their sequence is not significant since the Xantrex GT30 E recognizes the revolving field on its own. The neutral conductor is connected to terminal N. The grounding conductor is connected to the green-yellow PE terminal. Important: The Xantrex GT30 E must be connected to a TN network.

DC Connection

WARNING: Danger from high DC voltage at the photovoltaic generator The danger of electric shock at the output wires or exposed connections exists as soon as a photovoltaic generator is exposed to direct solar radiation. To reduce this risk of electric shock during installation, cover the photovoltaic generators with photo-resistant material and measure the voltage at the connections before you touch them to establish the connections. Only remove the shading when you are prompted to do so in “Initial Startup” on page 3–2.

WARNING: Danger from electric shock The use of unsuitable cables can lead to severe bodily injury and death as well as considerable property damage. Only use cables with an insulating strength of at least DC 1,000 V. Important: If the polarity of the connection cables is incorrect, the Xantrex GT30 E will not operate. Pay attention to the polarity of the connection cables. The connection for the solar generator is located on the right, lower side. The positive pole of the photovoltaic generator's connection line must be connected with the terminal labelled “+.” The negative pole of the photovoltaic generator's connection line must be connected with the terminal labelled “–.” Only one cable each can be connected with the terminal.

According to the guidelines of the German electricity association (VDEW), it must be possible to disconnect the Xantrex GT30 E from the AC network via a “switch point with disconnection function which is accessible at all times.” This is accomplished by connecting an external switch at the X2:1 and X2:2 terminals. If the switch is turned off, the contactor cannot draw in, thus ensuring the secure separation of the Xantrex GT30 E from the AC network. The switch must be turned on during normal operation. External Power Supply for Control Electronics External Power Supply for Control Electronics The Xantrex GT30 E is manufactured so that control voltage is generated from the photovoltaic generator's control voltage. This means that the Xantrex GT30 E is only switched on when the photovoltaic generator delivers sufficiently high control voltage. If the photovoltaic voltage is too low, the Xantrex GT30 E does not go online. If you want the Xantrex GT30 E to operate non-stop, i.e. for 24 hour monitoring, you need to supply external power to the control electronics.

Connection of External Power Supply $QVFKOXVVH[WHUQH6SDQQXQJVYHUVRUJXQJ Open the housing of the Xantrex GT30 E by loosening the quick release screws. The switching power supply circuit board is located above, right next to the display. Loosen the white plug with the supply lines of X2 on the switching power supply circuit board and connect it with X5.

Connection of an Analog Modem Installation of the Analog Modem An analog modem, type Tixi Alarm Modem 56k HM41, can be used for remote control of the Xantrex GT30 E. To do so, an analog telephone connection must be available. The required wiring is described below. Space for the modem is provided on the top DIN rail next to the DC connection terminals in the Xantrex GT30 E. 1. Open the housing of the Xantrex GT30 E by loosening the four quick release screws. 2. Snap the modem in place onto the top DIN rail next to the DC connections.

Operation

Initial Startup Initial Startup Instructions To make sure that every Xantrex GT inverter is wired correctly, each inverter must be wired individually according to “Introduction to Wiring and Connections” on page 2–3 and turned on according to the initial startup instructions. After the initial startup of an individual inverter, it is turned off and the wiring and initial startup of the next inverter are carried out. Proceed accordingly for all inverters until the installation is completed. Follow these initial startup instructions step by step for every installed inverter. Do not try to wire and turn on all inverters at the same time.

WARNING: Danger from electrical shock Make sure that the inverter’s ground conductor is connected with earth ground before you turn on the AC voltage. If this is not observed, danger of an electrical shock exists if the enclosure is touched. You can obtain information on the relevant grounding requirements from your local utility.

WARNING: Danger from electrical shock Dangerous voltages are present from two sources. Be very careful during initial startup. Make sure that the AC and DC power connections are accurately established before you turn on the inverter.

CAUTION: Damage to devices when multiple inverters used Inverters can be damaged permanently if they are not wired correctly. Make sure that the positive (+) and negative (–) connections of a photovoltaic generator are connected to their respective polarity on the inverter.

Initial Startup of the Xantrex GT30 E 1. Cover the photovoltaic generator with photo-resistant material. 2. Initially, keep the switch open for the “switch point with disconnection function which is accessible at all times” as well as the AC circuit breaker and the DC circuit breaker, if applicable. 3. Make sure that all required connections have been established according to “Introduction to Wiring and Connections” on page 2–3. 4. Remove the cover from the photovoltaic generator and connect the DC circuit breaker, if applicable. Check the voltage at the DC input terminals. It must be between 450 and 800 V. Also check the correct voltage polarity at the DC input terminals. 5. If you established an external power connection, turn it on as well.

Shutdown Test

6. The inverter turns on automatically, and the display shows one of the following error messages: •

Error under-voltage L1 – if an AC circuit breaker is connected.



Error bus-tie switch off – if only the switch for the “switch point with disconnection function which is accessible at all times” is connected.

7. Now, enter the phase voltage in the P-SYSTEM DATA/U network nominal menu and the frequency of your low-voltage network in the P-SYSTEM DATA/ f network nominal menu. The factory settings for network voltage are 400 V and 50 Hz for mains frequency. 8. Connect the switch for the “switch point with disconnection function which is accessible at all times” and the AC circuit breaker, if applicable. The inverter requires several seconds for pre-charging the bridge capacitors before the contactor closes and supply to the grid begins. 9. Now test the shutdown according to “Shutdown Test” on page 3–3.

Shutdown Test Shutdown Test to Ensure Correct Operation During initial startup as well as periodically during operation, correct functioning of the inverter should be tested with the shutdown test according to the regulations of the local utility. This test ensures that the inverter does not operate as an “island” by feeding electricity into the grid during grid failure or shutdown. As soon as the inverter supplies energy into the utility grid, test the shutdown as follows.

Instructions for the Shutdown Test 1. If an AC circuit breaker is connected, open it. If no AC circuit breaker is connected, proceed with step 4. 2. Make sure that the inverter stops feeding power into the grid: the Error undervoltage L1 error message must be shown on the display. 3. Switch on the AC circuit breaker again. After pre-charging the bridge capacitors, the inverter goes online again and feeds energy into the lowvoltage grid. 4. Open the L1 contact of the Test Contactor X3 test terminal block with a screwdriver. It is located right above the AC connecting terminals.

Open the switch for “switch point with disconnection function which is accessible at all times” according to the VDEW. 9. Make sure that the inverter stops feeding power into the grid: the Error bustie switch off error message must be shown in the display. 10. Close the switch for “switch point with disconnection function which is accessible at all times” again. Acknowledge the error message with . After pre-charging the bridge capacitors, the inverter goes online again and feeds energy into the low-voltage grid. 11. If you are putting multiple inverters into operation, repeat the shutdown test for each inverter.

Parameterization

Setting Date and Time Check current time and date under P-EXTRAS/Date and P-EXTRAS/Time. This is where you can check your local time. In the factory, the current time of the testing date (Central European time zone) is set. Daylight saving time is not taken into account. Setting the correct time enables faster troubleshooting as operation errors are saved with the date and time stamp in an event registry.

Inverter Menu Resolution Level In the P-EXTRAS/menu menu, select the level of resolution for the inverter Initial start-up, Standard, or Expert menus to set the number of visible menus, current values, and parameters in order to make the arrangement more clearly understandable. Factory setting is Initial start-up. The menus, current values, and parameters visible in the respective level of resolution can be found in “Current Values” on page 3–7 and “Parameters” on page 3–11.

Parameterization Protecting Parameters from Modification Procedure You can parameterize all parameters of the inverter in delivery status via the internal control panes or via an RS 232 connection to a PC with the IMS software. If you prefer to parameterize the inverter via one place only, you can customize that under P-EXTRAS/para-source. If you do not want to allow further parameter changes, you must set the DIL switch to off. The exact position of this DIL switch is described in “Sub-D Connections and DIL Switch” on page 3–23.

If you want to change the inverter parameters via the IMS software, the parameter P-EXTRAS/Para-source must be set to Global or RS232. Global corresponds to the pre-setting. •

Troubleshooting

General Troubleshooting Information Procedure Each inverter undergoes routine testing and one warm-up in the factory. This nearly rules out defects in the device during initial startup. In most cases, defects originate in the periphery, such as incorrect wiring or incorrect parameterization. The most common causes of defects during initial startup are listed below: Table 4-1 Causes of defect and troubleshooting Defect

Procedure Get the readout of the event memory via the IMS software. You can also display the data on the display. To do so, proceed as follows: 1. Press and then press until I-EVENT MEMORY appears in the display. 2. The first event, i.e. I-Event memory/01:Ctrl>under-voltage, is displayed with . •

If you press again, you will see all saved data of this event.

3. Press to return. 4. Read out all data of the last event via the IMS software before contacting the factory regarding an error message. This simplifies the isolation of the error considerably.

Maintenance

Service and Maintenance An adapted maintenance plan is available for every type of device. Further information can be obtained at the manufacturer's service department. The built-in fans have a life span of 10 to 14 years, depending on their degree of use. The life span of the lithium battery on the control panel circuit board is 10 years. The electrolyte capacitors are designed for a 20 year life span. •

Service the device after 10 years according to a set maintenance plan.



Check and clean the devices and/or the air filter mats, if applicable, depending on dust accumulation.

Decommissioning Disassembly, Return, and Disposal Below you will find information on the disassembly, return, and disposal of the device.

Disassembly CAUTION: Danger of electric shock Parts remain live up to 5 minutes after shutdown due to the capacitor charge. The housing of the Xantrex GT30 E must be opened only in discharged condition. 1. Shut down the inverter. 2. Open AC circuit breaker (if applicable). 3. Cover the photovoltaic generator with photo-resistant material, or open DC circuit breaker, if applicable. 4. Isolate external control voltage supply, if applicable. 5. After at least 5 minutes, check all connections for discharge. Only loosen the connecting terminals once that time has elapsed. If you would like the device to be decommissioned, contact the factory.

Return To avoid damage during transport, only ship the device in its original packaging.

Disposal Used device parts are free of PCB and BeO. Dispose of the devices according to the applicable regulations (electrolyte capacitors).

Warranty and Return Information Warranty What does this warranty cover and how long does it last? This Limited Warranty is provided by Xantrex Technology Inc. ("Xantrex") and covers defects in workmanship and materials in your Xantrex GT30 E 30 kW Grid-Tie Photovoltaic Inverter. This warranty period lasts for 5 years starting three months from the date of purchase at the point of sale to you, the original end user customer, unless otherwise agreed in writing (the “Warranty Period”). You will be required to demonstrate proof of purchase to make warranty claims. This Limited Warranty is transferable to subsequent owners but only for the unexpired portion of the Warranty Period. Subsequent owners also require original proof of purchase as described in "What proof of purchase is required?" What will Xantrex do? During the Warranty Period Xantrex will, at its option, repair the product (if economically feasible) or replace the defective product free of charge, provided that you notify Xantrex of the product defect within the Warranty Period, and provided that Xantrex through inspection establishes the existence of such a defect and that it is covered by this Limited Warranty. Xantrex will, at its option, use new and/or reconditioned parts in performing warranty repair and building replacement products. Xantrex reserves the right to use parts or products of original or improved design in the repair or replacement. If Xantrex repairs or replaces a product, its warranty continues for the remaining portion of the original Warranty Period or 90 days from the date of the return shipment to the customer, whichever is greater. All replaced products and all parts removed from repaired products become the property of Xantrex. Xantrex covers both parts and labor necessary to repair the product, and return shipment to the customer via a Xantrexselected non-expedited surface freight within the contiguous United States and Canada. Alaska, Hawaii and outside of the United States and Canada are excluded. Contact Xantrex Customer Service for details on freight policy for return shipments from excluded areas. Warranty and Return Information What proof of purchase is required? In any warranty claim, dated proof of purchase must accompany the product and the product must not have been disassembled or modified without prior written authorization by Xantrex. Proof of purchase may be in any one of the following forms: • The dated purchase receipt from the original purchase of the product at point of sale to the end user; or • The dated dealer invoice or purchase receipt showing original equipment manufacturer (OEM) status; or • The dated invoice or purchase receipt showing the product exchanged under warranty. What does this warranty not cover? Claims are limited to repair and replacement, or if in Xantrex's discretion that is not possible, reimbursement up to the purchase price paid for the product. Xantrex will be liable to you only for direct damages suffered by you and only up to a maximum amount equal to the purchase price of the product. This Limited Warranty does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation of the product or cover normal wear and tear of the product or costs related to the removal, installation, or troubleshooting of the customer's electrical systems. This warranty does not apply to and Xantrex will not be responsible for any defect in or damage to: a) the product if it has been misused, neglected, improperly installed, physically damaged or altered, either internally or externally, or damaged from improper use or use in an unsuitable environment; b) the product if it has been subjected to fire, water, generalized corrosion, biological infestations, or input voltage that creates operating conditions beyond the maximum or minimum limits listed in the Xantrex product specifications including, but not limited to, high input voltage from generators and lightning strikes; c) the product if repairs have been done to it other than by Xantrex or its authorized service centers (hereafter "ASCs"); d) the product if it is used as a component part of a product expressly warranted by another manufacturer; e) component parts or monitoring systems supplied by you or purchased by Xantrex at your direction for incorporation into the product; f) the product if its original identification (trade-mark, serial number) markings have been defaced, altered, or removed; g) the product if it is located outside of the country where it was purchased; and h) any consequential losses that are attributable to the product losing power whether by product malfunction, installation error or misuse.

Return Material Authorization Policy For those products that are not being repaired in the field and are being returned to Xantrex, before returning a product directly to Xantrex you must obtain a Return Material Authorization (RMA) number and the correct factory "Ship To" address. Products must also be shipped prepaid. Product shipments will be refused and returned at your expense if they are unauthorized, returned without an RMA number clearly marked on the outside of the shipping box, if they are shipped collect, or if they are shipped to the wrong location. When you contact Xantrex to obtain service, please have your instruction manual ready for reference and be prepared to supply: • The serial number of your product • Information about the installation and use of the unit • Information about the failure and/or reason for the return • A copy of your dated proof of purchase Record these details in “Information About Your System”.

Warranty and Return Information

Return Procedure Package the unit safely, preferably using the original box and packing materials. Please ensure that your product is shipped fully insured in the original packaging or equivalent. This warranty will not apply where the product is damaged due to improper packaging. Include the following: • The RMA number supplied by Xantrex Technology Inc. clearly marked on the outside of the box. • A return address where the unit can be shipped. Post office boxes are not acceptable. • A contact telephone number where you can be reached during work hours. • A brief description of the problem. Ship the unit prepaid to the address provided by your Xantrex customer service representative. If you are returning a product from outside of the USA or Canada In addition to the above, you MUST include return freight funds and are fully responsible for all documents, duties, tariffs, and deposits. If you are returning a product to a Xantrex Authorized Service Center (ASC) A Xantrex return material authorization (RMA) number is not required. However, you must contact the ASC prior to returning the product or presenting the unit to verify any return procedures that may apply to that particular facility and that the ASC repairs this particular Xantrex product.

Out of Warranty Service If the warranty period for your product has expired, if the unit was damaged by misuse or incorrect installation, if other conditions of the warranty have not been met, or if no dated proof of purchase is available, your unit may be serviced or replaced for a flat fee. To return your product for out of warranty service, contact Xantrex Customer Service for a Return Material Authorization (RMA) number and follow the other steps outlined in "Return Procedure". Payment options such as credit card or money order will be explained by the Customer Service Representative. In cases where the minimum flat fee does not apply, as with incomplete units or units with excessive damage, an additional fee will be charged. If applicable, you will be contacted by Customer Service once your unit has been received.
