What is an Apprentice?

Apprenticeship in Mechatronics… Æ

operate in a broad field that varies from installation of assembly lines, to repairs of production machines to programming of control systems

Apprenticeship in Electrical/Electronic Engineering… Æ

are deployed in the fields of electrical power supply- and Communication & Information technology as well as in lighting technology

work on the installation and maintenance of complex production lines (e.g. in the paper industry or in the production of investment goods), the manufacturing of control gears or electrical power supply An apprenticeship at Siemens is a formalized career training program that offers a combination of structured onthe-job training and related technical instruction to our employees to train them in an occupation that demands a high level of skill. The scheme plays a key role in your success, since it connects your learning directly to the world of work. It’s about learning, working and building a career together. The training standards are industry-driven and can open up many avenues in the world of manufacturing and engineering. We currently recruit Craft and Technical Apprentices. Craft Apprentices usually work within Manufacturing and would go on to undertake roles as fitters, turners and machinists, whilst Technical Apprentices would usually be destined for roles in Manufacturing or Design Engineering. As a Company, we wholeheartedly support our Apprentices and the training programs they

Your apprenticeship at Siemens Our apprenticeship training program is based in Berlin and runs for 3.5 years, starting 1st of August 2012 with an integration program that includes German lessons.

Apprenticeships can lead to exciting careers Carl Ennis started his career as a technical apprentice in 1988. After his apprenticeship, Carl was promoted to Design Engineer, then Chief Engineer and became a senior manager in Siemens Transmission & Distribution in 2004. His next career move took him to Energy Service Fossil where he became Divisional Director in 2007. Aged 43, Carl has just been promoted again, and will head of to China to lead Siemens’ Energy Service Division in the Asia-Pacific region from December 2011 onwards.

Carl’s story is not unique - a number of senior managers @ Siemens have started their careers as Apprentices or on Scholarship programmes.
