Working with E-mail account using Outlook Web Access

To use E-mail account through web browser, you need an account on the Exchange server and should log in to OWA.

E-mail: 1. Type URL: https://mail.newindia.co.in/owa in the browser. This would display below screen.

2. Enter the login credentials provided to you in the email address and password fields and click on sign in.

3. If you are accessing your profile for the first time, it will ask you to select the language and Time Zone. Select the default settings and click on OK.

4. After Successful login you would be getting below screen. The default location would be your Inbox folder in your Mail Folder. From here you can navigate to other available folders.

5. In order to work with mails like creating new mail, deleting old mail. You can select on the options marked with Red color in the below screen.

6. Create new message:

To create a new message, click on new button. This Would Display Below Screen. The available options are marked with Red Color in below screen shot and their use has been explained briefly.

The following options are available on the toolbar when you create a message. Button Send

Description Sends the message to the recipients. Saves the message in the Drafts folder but doesn't send the message. Attaches a file to the message. Inserts a picture to the message. Opens the Address Book to look up recipient names. Checks the names of the message recipients in the Address Book or in your Contacts folder Sets the importance of the message to High. Sets the importance of the message to Low.

Adds a signature at the end of the message. You have to create a signature before this button will do anything. Checks spelling in the text of the message. Displays the Message Options dialog box. Options Message Format Sets the format of the message to HTML or Plain text. list

7. Open a Message You can view your messages in the Reading Pane, or you can open them in a separate browser window. How do I use the Reading Pane? Click the message you want to read, and it will appear in the Reading Pane as shown in below screen shot. 

The read message form and Reading Pane display the following information in the message heading: o Subject The subject of the message. o Importance The importance level of the message if it's set to Low or High. o From The name or e-mail address of the sender or organization. o Sent The date and time the message was sent. o To The names or e-mail addresses of the primary recipients. o Cc The names or e-mail addresses of the carbon-copy (Cc) recipients.

You can control the Reading Pane by clicking View in the Toolbar and selecting the options you want as shown in below screen shot.

How do I open a message in a separate window? 1. Find the message you want to read in Mail. 2. Double-click the message to open it, or select the message and then press ENTER. General Information about messages: 

Messages that haven't been read are displayed in bold type. To mark a message as Read without opening it, select the message, and then press CTRL+Q on the keyboard (to use the CTRL+Q shortcut with Internet Explorer 7, you need to disable Quick Tabs).You can also right-click the message, and then click Mark as Read on the menu. To mark a message as Unread, rightclick the message, and then click Mark as Unread on the menu, or highlight the message and then press CTRL+U on the keyboard.

Applying Junk e-mail settings: In order to add a person to your junk email, right click on the user and select Junk E-mail and the relevant option as shown in below screen shot.

There are couple of other options are available for a received message. As displayed in below screen shot.

8. Address Book:

You can open the address book by clicking the address book icon Outlook Web App window or by clicking To or Cc in a new message.

When relevant results are displayed right click on the contact to make use of options available like adding to contact list, sending a new message and a new meeting request to contact as shown in below screen shot.

9. How to add signature to new messages. In order to add signature to new e-mails, follow below steps. 1. Click Options > see All options >Settings > Mail. 2. Under E-mail Signature, enter the desired details. 3. Select check mark next to automatically include my signatures on messages I send which is optional. 4. Finally click on save button to save the settings.

10. Flags and Reminders You can use flags to remind yourself to follow up on specific items in your mailbox. How do I flag an item? 

To add the default flag in the list view of messages, tasks, or contacts, click

Flag.

What else do I need to know?  



Right-click Flag, to select one of five preconfigured reminder flags. The preconfigured flags include the following: o Today o Tomorrow o This Week o Next Week o No Date Right-clicking Flag also lets you change or remove a flag and set a date reminder for the flag. To add a flag to an open item, click Flag in the toolbar, and then select the flag you want from the menu. In addition to the flag, you can add a reminder by selecting Set Date and Reminder from the menu. You can also click Mark Complete, Clear Flag, and Set Default Flag. Here's what the flag menu looks like:



Flagged items are added to your Tasks folder.

11. Adding a Private Contact to contact List:

In order to add a private contact in your contact list, you can click on Contacts which would open below screen. In order to create a contact click on New button.

New contact window opens up. Enter the relevant details and click on Save and Close button as shown in below screen shot.

12. How to change Password

In order to Change Password, Click on the options button and select Change Your Password from the drop down list as shown in below screen shot.

Enter current password and New Password (Minimum 8 characters) in the below displayed window and click on save button.

Upon successful Changing of your password, below displayed screen appears. Click on OK Button to close the current window.

Once you log in to OWA after modifying the password, it would take you to the below displayed screen. Click on Mail button marked with red in below screen shot to return to your Mail Option.
