Targets for the sem:    1. 2. 3. 4.

Improve both the quantity and quality of films made in the institute.  Make IITBBC more accessible and reachable to the Institute people.  Conduct independent film screenings during the semester.  Increase the involvement and retention of freshmen in film making activities by  providing them with the proper opportunities and guidance  5. Organize on­spot sessions, video walks, movie trips, 48 hour films so as to increase the  fun and enjoyment in film related activities along with interaction among seniors and  juniors.    

Events :    1. Video Walk | ​ April   A Video walk was organized near  Silver Beach, Juhu. A total of 12 DSLR cameras were  arranged so that everyone gets hands on experience of camera handling &  cinematography. 

  2. Rukhsat​  ​ | ​ April  

Rukhsat is a farewell event for passing out club seniors who were a part of SilverScreen  even for a small duration during their stay at IIT Bombay. It was an informal event with  fun activities including playing first videos of the passing out seniors, giving funny brief  of their life at IIT Bombay, presenting them with gifts and cards. The event was followed  by a club treat at ‘The Orchid’ hotel. 

  3. Film Workshop for Girls | ​ April  A series of 4 workshops were organised on camera handling, cinematography and basic  editing for sophomore girl students. This was done to train them to become mentors for  the coming batch of students. 

  4. Star Wars Movie Marathon | ​ May  On the occasion of Star Wars day, an informal movie marathon was organized where all  the parts of Star Wars were screened one after the other.  

 

  5. Summer Film Project | ​ May­June   Introduced for the first time, after the success of winter film project conducted last year.  A total of 120 people registered and they were divided into 4 teams. They were taught  film making right from the very basics.  A total of 4 films from different genres were  completed which were screened in Pahal 1.0 

  6. Summer School of Cult | ​ May­June  Two classes are being organised under Summer School of Cult.   a) Basic Editing & Visual Effects  b) Blender Animation  Both  were  planned  in  such  a   way  that  the  participants  get  hands  on  experience  by  creating an output of their own in each class.   

7. Any Body Can Film | ​ June  A  total  of  25  people  registered.  They  were taught  the basics of filmmaking with  the help  of mentors. 1 short film was completed which was screened in Pahal 1.0   

8. Pahal 1.0 | ​ June  Coverage videos and review video of Pahal 1.0 was shot and released 

  9. Cult Online | ​ Ongoing  Three competitions have been launched as a part of Cult Online.   a) MashItUp: 3 entries have been received so far  b) Frame By Frame: 2 entries have been received so far  c) Infinity & Beyond: 1 entry has been received so far 

 

Infrastructure and Online Ventures:    1. Media  IIT­BBC has released a total of 12 videos so far  a) Preview and review videos of all the 3 PAFs  b) PAFFF awards  c) Launch Video of Ocra, the electric car by IIT Bombay Racing  d) Interview of Mohit Uppal, IIT Bombay Alumnus and writer of ‘Here Be Dragons’  e) Coverage of Blood Donation Camp by Samwad, IITB  f) Interview of Prof Asim Tewari, as a part of Know Your Prof  series  g) Event Coverage of Design & Degree Show, Industrial Design Center​  

  2. Film Softwares 

Uploaded & documented the process of installing Adobe editing softwares on mail to  make the process hassle­free. The same was shared with everyone in each  session/workshop. 

  3. Competitions  The details of all major short film competitions are regularly shared on the club’s  facebook and google groups. Entries to these competitions are also sent on behalf of the  club. Following entries have been acknowledged so far:  a) Walking With a Ghost: Best Editing, MNIT Film Festival  b) Insti Wali Holi: Semi­finalist in Adobe Design Achievement Awards 

 

  4. Film­making Tutorials  Have updated playlists on Cinematography, Basic and Advanced Editing, and general tips  & tricks on Youtube. The same will be shared on the website. 

  5. Film Screenings  Information about film screenings conducted by the Industrial Design Center and Tree  Labs are regularly shared on the google group 

  6. Film Room  Ensured painting and repairs of the Film Room. A list of all the available film equipments  is also made. The same will be shared on the website and made available for issue.   

In the Pipeline:    Film:    1. Movie Review Blog  Work for the blog has been started. Will try to get it released before the start of the next  semester.   

2. Freshmen Orientation  Videos and planning for the Cultural Orientation and Club Introductory Session is in  progress. This will be completed by 10th July. A video involving the freshmen batch, to  be shown in the Cultural Orientation, is also being planned.  

  3. Culturals Introductory Video  Execution of a new video for the freshmen introduction to Culturals@IITB is in progress. 

  4. Film GC  The exact ​ Rules for the Film General Championship, along with grouping of hostels  together for film­making workshops is being planned. 

  5. On­spot Sessions  A total of​  ​ 5 on­spot sessions have been placed in the calendar. Exact timeline and 

planning of the sessions are being worked out. This will be completed by mid­July. 

  Media:    1. Know Your Prof  Shoot for ​ a total of 7 videos of the series have been completed. Editing is in progress.  They will be released regularly within the semester.   

2. Construction Workers  Working with an Visual Communication student for this project. The shoot has been  completed. Editing is in progress. 

  3. Collaboration with SARC 

 

We are ​ in talks with the Student Alumni Relationship Cell for interviews of noteworthy  IIT Bombay Alumni as a part of our AlmaConnect series 

  4. Orientation  Planning for freshmen orientation is in progress. Ideation on a freshmen introduction  video is also going on. 

   

In sync with your manifesto:    1. Cinematography Showreel: ​ Organise video walks to different locations both  inside & outside the institute focussing on cinematography & color correction  Status: Organized 1 video walk in the previous semester, will continue in the future   

2. Animation Sessions: ​ Introduce animation sessions comprising of character  animation, typography,​  ​ motion graphics etc​ .  Status: Haven’t worked much on this yet 

 

3. Summer Film Project  Status: Successfully completed the project, completing a total of 4 short films   

4. Movie review blog  Status: The blog will be up mostly before the start of the next semester   

5. Film Weekend: ​ Organise a weekend for film enthusiasts having screenings, games,  film appreciations, quizzing etc   Status: Haven’t worked much on this yet   

6. Compile a database of short film ​ scripts, screenplays & sounds  Status: Have started working on compilation of a database of stories / ideas instead.  

  Work for the next month:    1. Sophie Films:  Complete the planning of Sophie Films, including grouping of hostels for workshops and  orientation.  Talk to Cultural Councillor of each hostel and try to get Hostel Film & Media  Council completed as soon as possible.   

2. Film Weekend  Complete the ideation of what sessions are possible, focussing on the film enthusiasts of  the institute. Discuss with the Literary Arts Secretary for a possible collaboration. 

  3. Animation Sessions  Complete the planning and content of each session including mentor contacting,  publicity timeline, tutorial videos etc.
