Abstract Species richness and species density of wood inhabiting Agaricales and Aphyllophorales (Basidiomycetes) on dead wood of different diameter and of different tree species were compared. Data were collected at 25 sites in cool temperate deciduous forests in southern Sweden. 4841 records of 364 species were made.
