Merlene Ottey is the most decorated track and field athlete in Nebraska history. Ottey won 14 national championships from 1980 to 1984 and still holds 13 NU records, including four relay marks. She holds the world record in the indoor 200 meters and is a seven-time Olympian, winning eight Olympic medals.
