One of only a few producers in the US who offer vineyard designated Tocais. 2014 Channing Daughters Rosso Fresco - Blend (North Fork of Long Island AVA, New York) 39% Merlot, 21% Dornfelder, 18%Cabernet Franc, 16% Syrah, 3% Lagrein, 2% Teroldego and 1% Blaufrankisch

The varietal blend could be a serious summit meeting, but in this case it's a fun and raucous playground. True to form, grapes were de-stemmed, crushed by foot and punched down by hand. With moderate alcohol, balanced acid, very soft, silky tannins and a juicy persistent finish, this Rosso Fresco is just playful, full-flavored fun. 718

55%Carménère, 45%Syrah From the super dry desert of the northern Elqui Valley, varietals are fermented separately in stainless steel, then aged in French oak barrels for 5 months. Smooth on the palate, a perfect balance of body, soft tannins and subtle oak character envelope the intense fruit concentration. A definite peppercorn spiciness means steak, lamb, or richly sauced poultry will all do it justice.

2012 Bodegas del Medievo "Tuercebotas" Crianza - Graciano (South Rioja, Spain)

An homage to those who "twist their boots" (Tuercebotas) working, this is one of the very few Riojas made entirely from Graciano. Juicy and approachable with a complex and spicy mélange of flavors, great concentration, with fresh and balanced tannins holding it all together. 834

2014 Aljibes - Garnacha Tintorera (La Mancha, Spain)

The grape in question, Tintorera, is actually a regional name in Castilla-La Mancha for Alicante Henri Bouschet, a red-fleshed variety obtained in 1855 in France. Deeply colored with a velvety mouthfeel, the wine displays soft and lush fruit flavors in a structure held in balance by La Mancha's limestone minerality. From old-vine, regionally indigenous stock, grown at 1,800' altitude, and uniquely influenced by both the Mediterranean Sea and the continental plateau of La Mancha. Succulent, delicate and balanced fruit, a silky texture, with sweet undertones of berry jam, dried figs and mulling spice. Velvety tannins and fresh acidity hold it all in beautiful equipoise. 857
