Dear Families, Thank you for your interest in Williamsburg Northside School. Williamsburg Northside is a progressive, academically rigorous, Reggio-inspired elementary school in the heart of Williamsburg. We encourage and support your desire to be fully involved in your child’s education, and choosing the right school is the first step of this journey. We look forward to getting to know your family through our application process. The Lower School information packet contains the following: introductory letter, an application, a curriculum guide, financial aid information and a teacher recommendation form. There are several options for enrollment: st

Regular Enrollment: All fall K-1 Grade 2015-16 acceptance packets for new families will be mailed home in February nd th th 2015. Regular Enrollments are due by February 13, 2015. (2 -5 Grade due by February 25 , 2015) Early Decision Enrollment: Families who enroll in our early decision program will be given first consideration for acceptance and will be notified in early January. Families enrolling in early decision will also be eligible for an early enrollment tuition rate. All families planning to join our early decision program must communicate this to the Admissions st department by December 1 , 2014. When accepted, Early Decision Enrollments are due January 14, 2015. Immediate Enrollment: When space is available for the current school year parents/guardians are contacted immediately and an acceptance packet is e-mailed home. When space is not available your child’s name will be added to a wait list. Please review the enrollment option details on the final page and check your desired option for enrollment.

Instructions: 1) Complete the Application Form and attach a non-refundable $85.00 application fee. Please do not send cash in the mail. You will be provided with a receipt upon payment. If more than one child is applying, completing an application form for each child is required, however, you need only send in one fee. Please follow all instructions carefully and fill out all forms completely. Incomplete applications cannot be processed. 2) Application fees are waived for currently enrolled students as well as siblings. 3) Give the teacher recommendation letter to your child’s current teacher with a stamped and addressed envelope. Ask them to submit the paperwork directly to Williamsburg Northside School. 4) Read through the Williamsburg Northside Curriculum guide. 5) Schedule a private tour and parent interview with our Associate Director of Lower School Admissions, Kendra Anderson. Once your application is processed you will be contacted within 30 days in order to schedule a parent interview and smallgroup play observation with your child. Receiving Scholarship through Financial Aid Scholarship Awards The mission of the WNS scholarship program is to provide an enriching, challenging elementary school experience like no other. Williamsburg Northside is firmly committed to making our school a viable educational option for all eligible students. 49% of our 2014-15 student body received financial aid after qualifying through SSS. Over $500,000 was distributed to our families for the 2014-15 school year. In addition, Northside’s active Parent Association was responsible for raising over $40,000 in scholarship funds in their effort to support economic diversity, as well as provide for neighborhood families in crisis with a separate hardship fund.

Applying for Financial Aid Families interested in financial aid are strongly encouraged to apply for a scholarship. An applicant's request for tuition assistance does not affect admission eligibility. Financial aid forms are included in this packet or you may download them from our website and complete SSS forms online. All financial information submitted is treated as confidential. Renewal of aid is based only on financial need and not on academic performance. Scholarships are granted for one year at a time and must be applied for annually. Williamsburg Northside considers many factors when looking for qualifying families. All applicants are considered in order of economic need as determined by their SSS scores. Several other factors may effect a family’s overall application, such as loss of a job, number of siblings and overall commitment to the Williamsburg community. Financial Aid Requirements: • • • •

Tuition Breakdown and Enrollment Options Early Notification is a binding decision. Families whose children are accepted agree their children will attend WN and all applications to other schools will be withdrawn. Acceptances for early notification are sent home in January and due back th January 15 , 2015. Checking one of the following options is required:

To email applications families must submit and attach the credit card form with the application. Note: Applications are not carried over from year to year. If you decline a spot and wish to apply for the next year, you will need to submit a new application. However, if you have previously applied and are re-applying, or are now applying for a sibling please indicate so and do not re-submit an application fee, the $85 fee is a one-time fee.
