What is AEON? The new AEON™ Enhanced Performance process is not just a new coating or finish. It is a new way of making high pressure laminate that results in finer and more accurately layered aluminum oxide particles. the result is a surface that is measurably clearer and stronger, a surface that looks better when new, and looks new longer. The name AEON was selected to reinforce attributes and perceived benefits of the technology: • Performance • Clarity • Innovation • Endurance The Science Behind AEON The AEON technology revolutionizes the way that aluminum oxide is applied to the laminate surface. • Aluminum oxide particles are dispersed in the melamine resin and applied to the surface of the overlay during treating.

• Allows the aluminum osice particles to be positioned for maximum performance. • The overlay can be thinner, enhancing the optical clarity of the design.

• Two testing methodologies are used to demonstrate the enhanced performance:

• Taber abrasion: traditional NEMA test for wear resistance; measure the number of cycles it takes for sandpaper disk to wear through the décor layer to the kraft layer (what we call “catastrophic surface failure”).



• Wilsonart HD designs will carry elevated taber abrasion levels of 1600 cycles (4 times industry standard). • Premiums will be elevated to 1200 cycles (3 times industry standard).

• “Scotch-Brite” test – created by Wilsonart R&D to measure scratch/scuff/mar (the “ugly out effect”) produces more consistent results from test to test.



• 100 back-and-forth passes of a weighted, industrial-grade Scotch-Brite pad on the surface. • Measures “gloss reduction” on the surface. AEON technology improves HPL performance 3 to 5 times over our previous process.

AEON Attributes • All field tests indicate that fabricators should not encounter more tool wear when fabricating laminate with AEON versus current premium laminates from Wilsonart. • HPL postforming qualities, temperatures and procedures will not be affected by the introduction of AEON technology. • Wilsonart Laminates with AEON technology will not be negatively affected with chipping, brittleness, staining or clothing wear (as was experienced with a competitive wear-resistant surface). • AEON overlay will be used on the following standard product types: 107, 350, 335, and 376. • AEON will carry our standard 1 year materials warranty. Available in over 50 colors and designs, Wilsonart’s 100% acrylic solid surfaces are ideal for a wide range of environments, where you need a surface that looks good, performs well, and provides options that no other surfacing material can. Wilsonart Solid Surface is FDA and NSF approved for food preparation areas. Due to its inconspicuous waterproof seams, it’s easier to clean and keep free of mold and mildew. Plus, Wilsonart Solid Surface has also received GREENGUARD® Indoor Air Quality and GREENGUARD® Children & Schools Certifications, ensuring that it won’t contribute to harmful indoor air quality, and eight Wilsonart Solid Surface designs have been certified by Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) for recycled content.
