The Laureate Definition of Blended

Blended courses are taught partially online and partially on premises (i.e., face-to-face) The other definitions related to Digital Teaching and Learning: Some courses in hybrid programs are taught fully online and some are taught fully face-to-face and/or in a blended format

All courses in fully-online programs are taught completely online (although there may be limited face-to-face requirements associated with assessments and/or “residencies”)

Repurposing of Face-to-Face Class Time Class time is replaced by time taken by students to carry out their online learning activities.

Hence, the need to plan meaningful learning activities that scaffold students’ learning.

Learning Activities Defined as… Specific INTERACTIONS of learners with others using specific TOOLS and RESOURCES, orientated towards specific OUTCOMES. Eg: Solving problems, comparing and evaluating arguments, researching a topic, presenting an idea or negotiating goals.
