WHAT POW WOW IS. Pow Wow is a way to awaken your inner leader or polish your leadership skills. It is a fun-filled day of training for those who do or want to do the most good for the Cub Scout program. Many class offerings are available from a variety of topics. All classes will help those involved in Cub Scouting DO THEIR BEST.

GO TO POW WOW WHY? Because you will have a fun day with other Cub Scouters committed to being the best leaders for their Cub Scouts and providing an exciting, quality program for the Scouts and their families. You will learn new ideas, make new friends, and come away with more knowledge than you started with.

WHEN IT IS. Saturday, November 7, 2015, 8:00 am-2 pm Registration/check-in starts at 8:00 am.

WHERE IT IS. Grigsby Chapel LDS Church, 11837 Grigsby Chapel Rd, Farragut, TN 37922.

HOW MUCH IT IS. Registration fee of $15.00 by October 31, 2015. Registration fee of $20.00 after October 31, 2015. No refunds are given.

Lunch is included. While we wish we could accommodate all dietary needs, it is not possible with such a large group. If you have special dietary restrictions please feel free to bring your own lunch.

LEADER TRAINING & HELPS Cub Scouting, Now What? (9:00-9:50, 1:00-1:50) This class is for any leader who wants to learn more about the Cub Scout program, but new leaders will especially benefit. This crash course in Cub Scouts will cover the elements of Cub Scouts, and what to do to have a successful Pack or Den.

Den Leader Training. (10:00-10:50, 11:00-11:50) Beyond the knowledge you get from the online class. Learn what you need to be an effective Den Leader (and keep your sanity). A must for all new Den Leaders.

Webelos Leader Training. (9:00-9:50) Webelos is a transition from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts. Learn the best ways to move these boys from Cubs to Boy Scouts.

Cubmaster Training. (10:00-10:50) Being a Cubmaster is more than just leading the monthly Pack meeting. The Cubmaster is the visible head of the Pack. Learn what you need to be an effective one.

Youth Protection Training. (10:00-10:50) Gotta have it every two years, and it’s more fun live than online.

Committees—What They Are and What They Do. (11:00-11:50) The Committee is the ruling council, and the best Packs have them. Discover the benefits of a Committee, roles of Committee members, identifying the right people, involving all of the families in your Pack.

Record Keeping and How to Keep It. (11:00-11:50) So many methods, but which ones are right for you? This class will answer the questions of the What, Why, How, and Who for creating and keeping accurate records for your Pack.

Cub Scouts Compute. (1:00-1:50) Get connected. Learn how to access council, national, and other websites. Internet advancement, and all things computer that will be helpful to any Cub Scouter.

First Aid for Scouts. (9:00-9:50) Like a Jedi, a leader is cool in a crisis. This class will cover basic first aid. Be prepared for hands-on activities. Note: This is not a Red Cross First Aid Certification class.

Cub Scouts with Special Needs. (10:00-10:50) Meeting the needs of ALL Cub Scouts. Is It Safe Out There – Risk Management. (11:00-11:50) Calm the fears of Cub Scouts and their families with regards to safe activities for Scouts.

Pack Meetings that Dazzle. (9:00-9:50, 1:00-1:50) Learn the elements of an effective pack meeting, keeping the families involved, themes and activities, Cubmaster minutes, and more.

New Cub Scout Program. (9:00-9:50, 1:00-1:50) To say that there have been lots of changes is an understatement. If you are still having trouble wrapping your brain around it (and you aren’t alone), come learn what you need to know to succeed in the new program. 2

Cub Scout Forum. (9:00-9:50, 10:00-10:50, 11:00-11:50, 1:00-1:50) Open discussions on all things Cub Scouting led by a Scouting master. Got a question, ask away. If we don’t have the answer, we’ll find out where to get more information.

PROGRAM ACTIVITIES Arrow of Light Ceremonies and Crossovers. (10:00-10:50) Learn how to present amazing Arrow of Light ceremonies for Webelos Scouts and impressive crossover ceremonies for all ranks, not just into Boy Scouts.

Memorable Blue and Gold Banquets. (9:00-9:50) Get ideas and resources, including themes, budgeting, committees, décor, and other ways to make your next Blue and Gold banquets truly memorable.

Super Fun Derbies. (11:00-11:50) Learn how to run an effective derby, including the best location for tracks, recognition ideas, determining winners, and other helps and hints. Includes Pinewood Derby, Rain gutter Regatta, Space Derby, and Do-It-Yourself options.

Whittling Chip Instructor Training. (11:00-11:50) The Whittling Chip is a requirement for Bears. Learn the best and safest ways to teach this to your Scouts.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES Family Camps, Picnics, and Outings. (1:00-1:50) With the new emphasis on outdoor activities, making outdoor activities events the Scouts and families want to attend is key. Learn how to put on exciting and fun outdoor events, including themes, locations, and more.

Hiking with Cubs. (9:00-9:50) The new Cub Scout program has hikes across all ranks. Learn the best techniques so all the Cubs have a good time and come away with an appreciation of the outdoors.

Camping with Cubs–An Introduction to Basic Gear and Techniques. (11:0011:50) The new Cub Scout program has more emphasis on outdoor activities, including camping, at all ranks. Learn what you need to take Cubs to camping.

Super Fun Outdoor Cooking. (11:00-11:50, 1:00-1:50) Easy recipes and techniques for outdoor cooking. Wow your Pack and teach the boys and their families how to make delicious outdoor meals other than hot dogs and s’mores.

Compass and Map Use/Orienteering. (10:00-10:50) Learn how to teach map reading skills to your Cub Scouts so they can find their way anywhere.

Cub Scouts Go Geocaching. (9:00-9:50) Boys love to hunt for treasure, so Geocaching is a great activity for boys and families in Cub Scouting. Learn about making Geocaching an exciting and fun activity for everyone.

Nature Crafts and Activities. (10:00-10:50) Projects and activities that bring the outdoors into your Den and Pack. Useful activities for campouts, hikes, and other outings.

ANYTIME ACTIVITIES Activity and Event Planning. (10:00-10:50) How to plan an effective event including picnics, campouts, outings, parties, or other events. Includes organization, promotion, and safety requirements.

Citizenship and Service Activities. (1:00-1:50) Teach citizenship using effective flag ceremonies, service projects and other community involvement opportunities. Includes ideas for all ranks.

Skits and Storytelling. (1:00-1:50) Scouts love to show off. Learn appropriate stories, skit ideas and resources to teach them.

Super Fun Science. (9:00-9:50, 10:00-10:50) Boys love science! Discover ways to include science-related activities in Pack and Den meetings and outings.

Building and Binding – Knots and Lashing. (11:00-11:50) Learn to build catapults, pulleys, and bridges. Learn to teach the essential Boy Scout knots that all Scouts need to know.

Games, Games, Games. (10:00-10:50) Boys love to be active. Learn games to keep both their minds and bodies engaged.

CRAFTS Crafts for Any Budget. (10:00-10:50, 11:00-11:50) Quality crafts Cub Scouts will be proud to make.

Leather Craft. (9:00-9:50) This class will share know-how for those with beginner experience for making advanced-looking leatherwork projects.

Woodcraft. (1:00-1:50) Creative ways with wood. Simple ideas for Cub Scout projects that can also be used to teach Cub Scout adventures.

Crazy Cub Scout Gadgets. (11:00-11:50, 1:00-1:50) Find out what fun things Cub Scouts can build that move and do.

Neckerchief Slides. (9:00-9:50) Learn to make a variety of neckerchief slides, from easy to complicated, based on the Scout Law, Scout themes, and just plain old fun.
