Church Family News: A very warm welcome to all who worship the Living God with us today. Please stay and join us for morning tea in the hall after the service. • The Gathering (the annual Baptist Assembly) is this week from Thursday to Sunday. It is being held at Waitangi and the following people are attending from NBC: Peter, Dale, Janice, Suzy and Glyn. Pray that this would be a fantastic time for the denomination and for God’s Spirit to work mightily among all who attend. There are about 530 people going including pastors from across the nation. Pray for unity and vision for the future as well as wisdom for decision making. • The Pastoral Team had a great prayer morning on Wednesday, praise God for this encouraging time together. • We would like to congratulate Edwin and Ruth Duxfield on their 60th wedding anniversary last Thursday. May God bless you both richly. • Grace Chalcraft had a hip replacement on Tuesday, please pray for a speedy recovery. • Congratulations to these new prefects, Josh Beckett, Jesse Burgess (Northcote College) and Eleanor Barron (Westlake Girls). Congratulations also to Alysha Burgess who is Northcote College’s Junior Sports Woman of the Year! Her North Harbour U15 hockey team also won the National Tournament. (Please let the office know of any other noteworthy achievements—it’s great to celebrate with our young achievers!) • Please pray for these senior members of our church family: Harold & Ethel Boswell, Edwin Duxfield, Dorothy Gibbs, Evelyn Harris, Gwenda Mills, Jean Patterson, Beatrice Touzel and Audrey Young. • Anna Hobbs and Tim Hart are getting married in January and are looking for a place to live. If you know of an available rental please contact them on [email protected]. Thank you! Another miraculous rescue for Darren (on his way home after church planting training at 12am) “I noticed my car wasn’t running well. I stopped earlier to check the tyres but all seemed fine. I proceeded on but not long after my front right tyre blew and was shredded. I was on another isolated part of the motorway. It was a dangerous place to stop. I started to change the tyre but the nuts and bolts seemed like they were melted together onto the metal rim and the spanner made no impact. 12.30am stuck in the middle of nowhere. My team was mostly overseas so no one to call on. No road breakdown service •

for me here either. What to do? Pray of course. “Lord, I need your help here, again.” Just as I was about to go for a very long walk, from behind me came some very bright lights. Angelic would be the description. They were coming from a pickup van. The lights were very bright but not high beam. Out through the lights appeared two people who told me to stand back and proceeded to check and change my tyre for me. I thanked them very much for their help and drove off. As I looked back in the rear view mirror soon after the bright lights had gone. Gladly no more mishaps that night. I have never seen these type of vans on the road. As I described the van to various locals they confirmed they don’t exist and even if they did, these people would make you change your own tyre. Thank you Lord!”

He will order his angels to protect and guard you. And they will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone” Luke 4:10-11

The MUFFIN MUMS SEWING GROUP has been busy on its sewing machines in the last few weeks. They now have a collection of items which would make great Christmas presents and will have them available for sale at the church at the end of November. The group has been sewing for just a few weeks and has focussed on identifying items which will increase their sewing skills and give a small return on their effort. The date for the sale of goods will be announced later in the month.

‘Buy’ a Chair Project People are still buying chairs. If you want to ‘name and claim’ a chair in the new building please make your donation of $45 per chair to the office. There are plenty more up for grabs – get in now! Over $7000 has been paid towards the chairs. IT ALL ADDS UP!!

If you would like prayer, the church has a condential prayer chain. Phone Margaret North on 480 5288 with your need/request.

This week let’s pray for: Monday: • Darren’s prayer requests are: safety in travel; good health; Godly wisdom in decision making; divine appointments with key local leaders and finances. • Pray that God would encourage Darren, Jo and Murray this week, that they would hear His voice clearly, be refreshed by scripture and filled with joy and peace. Tuesday • Neighbourhood Craft. • Pray for those involved in visiting and Pastoral care this week. Ask for God’s leading as they listen to and encourage members of our church family. Wednesday • More than Music—pray for Kim and her team running this morning while many people are also here for the BMF Day. • Pray for the team hosting the national BMF Day here at NBC. Pray that God would be at work as people gather to hear what He is doing around the world. Thursday • Pray for The Gathering. It is being held at Waitangi to commemorate 200 years since The Gospel arrived in Aotearoa NZ. Pray for revival in our nation. Praise God for the family of Baptist Churches to which we belong. Pray for a spirit of unity and for the Holy Spirit to direct the discussions and decision making. Friday • The pastors are away at The Gathering, so pray that God will speak to those who are bringing The Word as they seek Him this week. Saturday • Pray for our wonderful Youth Group leaders who aim to encourage, inspire and develop our youth. Sunday • Pray for those who are unable to join us for services this week. Ask God to encourage them and remind them of His great love. • Pray that those who do attend worship today will meet with the risen Lord Jesus, be open to His encouragement and know His love in their hearts. Help us to be supportive to those who rely solely on us to be their family.
