WHAT DOES EASTER MEAN TO ME? Christos Anesti! Having just completed the Holy period of Great Lent and celebrated the joy of Holy Easter - the resurrection of our Lord, one begs the questions: What is the real meaning of Easter to me Personally? Have I experienced any spiritual awakening? Has my relationship to God become a closer one? How has the Passion and Resurrection of Christ impacted my daily life? How have the

writings of the Evangelists influenced me? Commemorating the events of Holy Week leading to the Glory of Christ’s Resurrection allows us to focus on the essence of our Orthodox faith. Thus, we can strive to become more Christ-like in our daily lives; praising and giving thanks to God in prayer, being receptive to God’s will, possessing humility, being compas-

sionate, loving and caring for our fellow man.... During this time we have once again been reminded of Christ’s sacrifice; taking on the sins of mankind so that each of us can be saved. Christ’s trampling upon death and His Holy Resurrection gives each of us who believe in Him and follows Him life everlasting. This Holy season serves to strengthen our spiritual being. Christos Anesti!

membering and praying for our departed loved ones that are observed in our Orthodox Church, our country celebrates the national holiday: Memorial Day. Originally it was known as Decoration Day when flowers were placed on the tombs of the fallen soldiers of The Civil War. Let us mark this day with payers, honor, and remembrance not only for our loved ones, but for all the men and women who have given their lives, served, and are currently serving in our armed forces to keep us free and preserve our liberty. May God bless them and shed His Grace on them.

FESTIVAL NEWS MOTHER’S DAY We know that every day is truly Mother’s Day, for all the love and sacrifices that our moms give us throughout our live. However, our nation has wisely set aside a specific day to honor and pay tribute to mothers for most often they are the primary persons who nurture and mold each generation. On May 8th, be sure to give your mom, grandmother, aunts, etc, an extra hug and kiss. Say an additional prayer for them and tell them more than once how much you love and appreciate them. God bless mothers everywhere. Xronia Polla.

MEMORIAL DAY In addition to the memorial services re-
