STARS SHINED HERE: Two former Power players will suit up in tonight’s Major League baseball All-Star Game in San Diego. Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy and Pirates outfielder Starling Marte are reserves for the National League squad. 28 players selected for this year’s All-Star Game rosters played in the South Atlantic League. BACK AT WON: The Power snapped their six game losing streak on Sunday. The skid was the longest by the club this season, surpassing three previous four-game skids. STRUGGLE BUS: West Virginia batted .150 during their 1-6 road trip, but were only outscored 20-10 over the seven game stretch. The pitching staff, however, was sharp, sporting a 2.95 ERA during the trip, lowering their second half earned run average from 3.70 to 3.63. DEBUT REVIEW: Gage Hinsz made his full-season debut on June 3 against the Augusta GreenJackets at Lake Olmstead Stadium. The right-hander struck out six batters over five innings and walked two, but did not factor in the decision. The Power held a 1-0 lead after six innings before the GreenJackets scored three runs against Jess Amedee in the seventh. Augusta would hold off a West Virginia rally in the ninth for a 3-2 win. DOUBLE DIPPING: The Power are now 3-5 on doubleheader days this season. West Virginia swept a doubleheader at Lexington on April 22, lost both games of a twinbill on May 1 against Asheville, split with Hickory on May 22 and lost both games on Saturday.
