SCHOOL LUNCH NOTES Norfolk Public School participates in the National School Lunch Program and has seen many, many changes over the past 40+ years. All building sites will offer breakfast to all students/staff this school year. Middle, Junior and Senior High will offer a hot breakfast daily. Some choices will be mini pancakes, French toast sticks, mini waffles, breakfast burrito and breakfast sandwich along with cold cereal, fruit, juice, yogurt, snack crackers and milk choices. For lunch all K-12 students must have a fruit or vegetable on their trays along with two other food choices. We offer fresh fruits and vegetables and “made from scratch” soups, pasta bakes and cinnamon rolls and fruit crisps. Our grains in the bread products (from dinner rolls to pizza crusts) are made with 51% whole grain and milk offerings are both skim and 1%. Norfolk Public Schools is proud of promoting healthy eating habits for our students. We hope your child will try the new offerings and also enjoy the colorful vegetables and fruits.

ATTENTION PARENTS We offer Gluten-free meals for students that are gluten intolerant and soy milk for lactose-intolerant students. Please have a note from your doctor on file with the nurse.

When you are sending “treats” with your child for classroom celebrations, make sure they are healthy snacks. The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 was written to not only require offering meals that follow the new guidelines of lower fats, sodium and calories but requires all snacks for school events to be healthier. This is to help our students understand the necessity to eat healthy throughout the entire day. Come and enjoy a meal with us at Norfolk Public Schools. If you have questions please contact:
