Welcome to Iceland! The Nordic Drinking Water Conference has been arranged every second year in the Nordic countries since 1998. In 2016 we welcome you to the northernmost capital of the world, Reykjavík, and to the prestigious Harpa conference center and concert hall, in the very centre of the city. Samorka, Icelandic Energy and Utilities, organizes the 10th Nordic Drinking Water Conference in cooperation with the other Nordic water and wastewater associations: DANVA, Norsk Vann, Svenskt Vatten and FIWA and NORDIWA. The conference provides a forum for professionals in the drinking water industry to share experience, knowledge and skills as well as to interact. The conference program offers a comprehensive cross section of the current research and developement activities in the Nordic countries. On offer are 98 presentations over three days, organized into five themes:     

Planning, management and education Safety and security in the drinking water supply Distribution systems Drinking water treatment and quality Water safety in small water works in the Nordic Countries

We will have four extensive and interesting workshops about water safety plans, biofilms, membranes and cooperation in research and developement in the Nordic countries. There will be a special emphasis on the poster presentations, where you will find 37 excellent offerings, along with additional posters and side meetings for the participants. We hope that the schedule will give participants new knowledge and ideas as well as new connections. In addition to the ambitious scientific programme, we will use the opportunity to network in social settings. One of the highlights of the conference will be an excursion to the world famous Blue Lagoon. We will enjoy a dip in the unique Lagoon with its beautiful surroundings of Reykjanes Peninsula and then some fine Icelandic cuisine and entertainment at LAVA restaurant, at the same location. Samorka warmly welomes you to Iceland and we hope you have a pleasant stay!

Workshops - At Björtuloft hall The conference invites you to participate in a number of workshops, where you can meet your Nordic colleagues and exchange experiences. Please join in and share the challenges from your working day and learn what your Nordic colleagues are challenged by. The workshops will be on the following subjects: Water safety plans, biofilms, membranes and cooperation in research and development in the Nordic countries. The workshops will take place parallel to the presentation sessions. You will at any time during the conference have the opportunity to participate in either a presentation session, a poster session or in a workshop on the subject that you work within, and what interests you the most. No separate registering is needed for the workshops, please feel free to join in! Format for workshops 1-3 These workshops are based on the open space technology, known as “the law of the two feet”. The workshops start with several short presentations for inspiration. The presentations are usually no more than 5-7 minutes pr. subject – just enough for the presenter to pitch the project, and for the listeners to get to know the headlines and main output from the actual project. After presenting the projects we break out in smaller groups – one station pr. presenter, and you go to the station of your choice based on interest and knowledge. At the station the presenters will elaborate on their projects and there is time and space to discuss and share knowledge. If you at any time during the workshop find yourself in a situation, where you are neither learning nor contributing, use your two feet, and go to another station. We encourage everyone to use the opportunity for in depth discussions about these important subjects.
