IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR 2016 ACADEMY ADMINISTRATION REOPENS: Offices open January 6th, 2016. Office hours: 08:00 to 16:30 Administrative personnel will be available for any general and financial inquiries.

FIRST YEAR’S RECEPTION: All first year students arrive on Saturday, January 23rd, 2016 at 09h30 at the Sanlam Auditorium, North-West University of Potchefstroom (map included). There will be an information session after the welcoming for our new students. During this session parents will be informed about all general matters and will also be given a chance to ask questions about accounts and payments, etc. The different house committees will then receive the students at the hostels where they will have the rest of the day to move in and unpack and start feeling at home.

ACCOMMODATION: Students can move into their rooms on Friday, January 22nd, 2016 from 08:00 to 16:30 or on Saturday, January 23rd, 2016 after the first year’s reception. Please advise your Accommodation Official prior to your arrival. Your roommate’s contact details is available if you want to contact them to get acquainted before your arrival. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR 2016 (CONTINUED) PAYMENTS: Requirements are payable before/on the 31st of January 2016. Please take into account that the students’ study-material is included. The student won’t be able to complete his/her studies without the requirements. The amounts that you have received earlier in 2015 were estimated, therefore the minimal change in price for the requirements. A laboratory fee is included in the requirements fee for the use of equipment. Additional items can be purchased from our suppliers. Specialized items and equipment are included in the requirements fee. All excursions are optional and are excluded from this amount. Students are issued a card for photo copies and printing work (Your card can be credited with money, payable at the financial office). Hairtrends is a unique salon that provides service to the public. Part of this dynamic team is highly qualified staff that has extensive knowledge of current trends. Hairtrends also serve as a training facility where our top Hairdressing students can complete their hours. Studio 360 offer a service to the public by providing family shoots, wedding shoots, setting up a model portfolio, etc. It also serves as Potchefstroom Academy’s training facility where students complete some of their work-integrated training. Jolie Femme offers a wide spectrum of affordable treatments and also serves as a training facility. Clients can relax while students perform treatments under the supervision of highly qualified staff to ensure quality control.

STUDENT COUNCIL WELCOMING A warm welcome to the First Years! 2016 promises to be an unforgettable chapter in your life. The Student Council is not only here to support and serve you, but also to ensure lots of social interaction. The Get-Together-Picnic is an opportunity for team building and participation to get to know each other and the Academy in order to build a support structure. We don’t believe in “initiation” but in team building.

CASA MIA HOSTEL We would like to inform you that the Academy has a town hostel, Casa Mia. The following accommodation facilities form part of Casa Mia: Lombardhuis, Krugerhuis and Torlyn. Anyone who makes use of private accommodation is more than welcome to join and take part in the student activities. The house committee of Casa Mia will be available with application forms on the day of the First Year Reception.

GET-TOGETHER-PICNIC AND WELCOMING WEEK 2016 We would like all First Years to be part of the Get-Together-Picnic and the week that follows. The picnic will be held at 9:30 on January 24th, 2016 on the B-veld at Profert Olen Park. All students without transport can assemble at the back of the Academy at 9:15. The picnic introduces you to our student council as well as the staff. You also gain insight into the operation of the Academy and it ensures that you will quickly be able to stand on your own two feet. We will also focus on providing you with insight for the road ahead in adjusting towards the first step of your independence. We are confident that you will feel at home on our beautiful campus. The picnic and the following week is for the benefit of every First Year and we look forward to share this time with you. The amount of R 450.00 is payable before/on the 6th of January 2016 into the Student Councils account. The amount will be used for the following items listed below.
