Welcome back to Nanaksar Primary School Welcome back to Nanaksar Primary School. Our pupils have been working extremely hard this half term. A big well done to our pupils for their excellent behavior and hard work. Not only have pupils been working very hard they have had a great deal of fun participating in a range of exciting activities and performances this half term. We would like to thank all parents for your continued support and participation in everything that we do.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all Nanaksar Staff, we look forward to seeing you all after the Christmas holidays.

Café reading Nanaksar Primary are excited to announce the launch of a new reading scheme, called CAFÉ. CAFÉ teaches the four key skills needed to become fantastic readers. Each classroom has its own CAFÉ reading board, CAFÉ is broken down into four components which are listed below. C-Comprehension (I can understand what I read) A-Accuracy ( I can carefully read the words) F-Fluency (I can read fluently, and add expression when I read) E-Expanding Vocabulary (I enjoy finding new words and discovering what they mean) Every time we read in class we look at our CAFÉ board and talk about the reading skills which we are developing. The children find it very helpful and enjoy using it.

All dressed up in Year 1

This half term Year 1 studied the topic ‘All dressed up’. Pupils got a great deal out of this topic, they learnt about clothing from different countries, different types of materials and how Victorians dressed . For their ‘entry point’ pupils dressed up their own plush toys in different garments. They had so much fun doing this whilst learning about a range of fabrics and materials and the same time.

Year 2 Art meets English This half term Year 2 have been working extremely hard in all areas of the curriculum especially in Art and English. During Art, the pupils created a Snowman Christmas decoration using clay. They took a lot of care for attention and detail to cut out the clay shapes and then add the facial features on their Snowman. They continued this fantastic work in English lessons during the topic of Poetry. The pupils worked in small groups to prepare a poetry reciting performance using different actions to help their audience understand the poem. This was followed by whole class performances in which pupils had the opportunity to develop their speaking and listening skills to watch the poems come to life! The Year 2 teachers were very impressed and proud.

Children in Need On 13th November we had a fun filled day to raise money for ‘Children in Need’. The total amount raised across the MAT was £2872.33. As always, this was only possible with your support. Everyone had lots of fun at the Children in Need fair from face painting to photo booth! The cakes and biscuits parents made and sent were a huge success in the cake sale. The ‘Jazzy Jars’ were full of delicious sweet treats. The children made a huge effort in their choice of costume for the theme ‘what I want to be when I grow up’ from artists to archaeologists. Thank you to all the children for their ‘creative masterpieces’ for a ‘Children in Need’ decoration.

Thank you for raising £2872.33
