MESSAGE FROM HEADTEACHER
night!
Update on Building Works
Have a good half term.
As you are aware we are currently in the midst of a £1.5 million building refurbishment programme for our largest block, Dartmouth. Phases 1 and 2 are complete which is all of the 3 storey part of the building. Phase 3 is underway and is the single storey part of the building. As the scaffolding starts to come down we are starting to see our transformed building emerge.

Mrs Billings - Canteen BASINGSTOKE MFL CHALLENGE DAY 2015 On Friday 23 January, a group of Year 10 students, who were selected from Modern Foreign Language (MFL) GCSE classes, set off from Aldworth to attend the Basingstoke MFL Challenge Day. This year the event, which is held annually, took place at the Basingstoke Civic Offices. Aldworth entered three teams, made up with representatives from the German, Spanish and French GCSE courses. Elizabeth Wheeler, a German GCSE student who was part

quarter and a miserly two points in the last quarter.
of the German team, gave an account of her experience:
Bethany Horan (14 pts) and Chloe Tiller (10 pts) led the scoring as Aldworth put in a performance worthy of champions in front of a vociferous crowd.
When we first got there, we were informed about the day. We were told there were going to be four tasks, to be completed by a set time, and that the tasks were going to be based around Costa Coffee. Then we went into separate rooms for French, Spanish and German, with teams from other schools, to complete the tasks. The four tasks were to make a jingle, an information pack, press release and a presentation in the language, to present our ideas for a new Costa Coffee. Lastly, we all went down to the council chambers so that they could announce the winners. The Aldworth French group won their category.
Team: Ava Kerwick (2 pts), Chloe France (6 pts), Elizabeth Butler-Clack (4 pts), Chloe Tiller (10 pts), Millie Morrison, Olivia Aston, Jade Clare – Captain (5 pts), Amber Clare (4 pts), Aisha Horrobin, Eva Dean, Bethany Horan (14 pts), Victoria Butler-Clack. Well done girls. Mr Dimond
Thanks to all the students who attended for their impeccable behaviour and excellent efforts on the day. Special congratulations to the Aldworth French team! Mrs Richardson YEAR 11 COMPUTING COURSEWORK Students from 11X1 and 11Y1 Computing will be finalising their coursework on Thursday 19 March during timetabled lessons. UNDER 16’S GIRLS BASKETBALL Aldworth 45 pts – Kings (Winchester) 19 pts Aldworth School’s Under 16 Girls basketball team maintained their record of having been Hampshire Champions at each age level by winning the Hampshire School’s Under 16 competition. A comprehensive 45 pts to 19 pts victory over Kings School (Winchester) completed their hat trick of wins, having been crowned Under 14 and Under 15 Champions in the preceding years. The team’s strength this season has been their defence and speed of transition. Tight man-to-man marking restricted Kings to no more than seven points in any one
