WEEK OF DECEMBER 19 – DECEMBER 25, 2016 From the Desk of the City Manager This is the final weekly message for 2016 and I want to take this opportunity to thank the City Commission members, both past and present, for their support and leadership, as well as all of our City employees for their dedicated efforts throughout the past year. Our City’s success relies on our ongoing commitment to bring our best talents and energies to the task of moving the City forward each day. As I consider the many accomplishments of the past year, I am particularly appreciative of the hard work and loyalty so many of our employees have demonstrated over the past year. There are so many examples of times when I have personally witnessed employees going above and beyond their job descriptions to do a little bit more in service to our community. During this holiday season, I’ve seen the piles of toys grow in the toy drive box that’s been in the lobby of City Hall; our Code employees have once again carried out a successful drive to get pet food and supplies to help animals in our community; the team in Community Development worked with community groups to put together and deliver more than 200 food baskets; our police officers have volunteered at community events and taken children on holiday shopping sprees through our “Shop with a Cop” initiative.

WEEK OF DECEMBER 19 – DECEMBER 25, 2016 From the Desk of the City Manager (continued) All throughout the year, our employees have supported charitable efforts both big and small—from collecting and sorting thousands of plastic caps to be recycled to purchase wheelchairs to raising thousands of dollars for the American Cancer Society’s annual Relay for Life—the generosity and caring of our employees is inspiring. The pictures of our firefighters brightening the day of a hospitalized child with personal tour of a fire engine, or the images of our code team covered in dirt after tackling a massive yard clean up on a Saturday, are moments that make us all proud to be city employees.

We’ve come through a year that was filled with both challenges and victories and the spirit of public service demonstrated by our City Commission and staff has been ever present. Working with each of you has been a pleasure and I’m proud of all we’ve achieved in 2016. The next City Manager’s weekly report will be issued on Thursday, January 12th after we all have returned from the holiday break and are preparing for the next Regular City Commission meeting on January 18th. Enjoy the holidays and much happiness to you and your families as we all look forward to a successful 2017!
