CSP Overview 

The Army CSP is a component of the Soldier Life Cycle that encourages Soldiers to capitalize on training and development opportunities throughout their military careers - both in uniform and as civilians beyond their military service.



CSPs provide Soldiers with the opportunity to participate in career and employment skill training opportunities during transition, to improve employment options upon separation from military service.



CSP opportunities include: 

Apprenticeship



Internship



On-the-Job Training (OJT)



Credentialing



Job Shadowing



Employment Skills Training

CSP Policy Overview (Army Directive 2015-12) 

Focus is on the At-risk Soldier 

18 to 24 years old



First term enlistments



Involuntarily separating due to force shaping



Rapid separation from active duty



Eligibility: Soldiers within 180 days of discharge/release from military service



Soldier’s Battalion Commander





Approval authority for Soldier participation



Releases Soldier from duty to participate & maintains accountability



May terminate a Soldier’s participation out of military necessity

Funding 

Appropriated funds will not be used to pay for CSPs (Tuition Assistance (TA) is not authorized)



Majority of CSPs are free to Army & Soldiers; Soldiers cannot receive outside compensation
