18-12 MONTHS BEFORE THE BIG DAY Fix a date Decide on a budget Decide who is going to be responsible for organising what Start looking at possible venues Provisionally book a venue or marquee for reception Arrange a first meeting with the vicar or minister of your preferred church. For civil ceremonies meet with the Registrar Buy wedding insurance Start compiling a scrapbook of ideas, colours and themes Start to consider guest numbers and compile a provisional guest list for Day and Evening Celebrations Consider hiring a Wedding Planner for OnOn-TheThe-DayDay-Help or a fullyfully-inclusive package

12 MONTHS TO GO Choose Best Man, witnesses, bridesmaids, flowergirls, groomsmen, ushers etc. Make appointments appointments with Bridal boutiques Book Wedding Cars Book Photographer Research wedding cake suppliers Choose and book a caterer Confirm booking with venue If using a marquee – liaise with the company for the hire of all other requisites, e.g. tables, seating, seating, dancefloor etc.

10 – 8 MONTHS TO GO Consider stationery – Invites, Place Cards, Menus, Seating Plans Plans and Save the Date cards Book entertainment – Band/DJ etc. Send out Save the Date cards More visits to Bridal boutiques for bridesmaids/flowergirls outfits Start thinking about a honeymoon buttonholes, oles, bouquets, Choose a florist to discuss flower arrangements including buttonh venue and ceremony dressing plus any ‘thank you’ bouquets Taste and choose menus and drinks with your caterer

8 – 6 MONTHS TO GO If you are getting married in a church, discuss hymns and readings with the Minister or Priest and music with musicians. For civil ceremonies – check with the Registrar about what readings and music are permitted

If travelling abroad on honeymoon – check on requirements for visas, vaccinations etc.

6 – 3 MONTHS TO GO Order Invitations Finalise bookings for transport to the wedding venue and on to the reception for you and your bridal party Order Wedding Cake Decide on wedding favours Remind your fiancé to get his and his best man/ushers outfits Choose Wedding rings Confirm Confirm Order of Service with the Vicar or Registrar and order the sheets from the stationers Finalise guest invitation list Compile list of accommodation providers in the area for your guests Choose and book a room for your wedding night

3 MONTHS TO GO If you are changing your name, renew your passport now. The officiating Minister or Registrar will sign the paperwork paperwork Discuss Hen and Stag Night plans with your Best Man and Chief Bridesmaid/Matron of Honour Create a gift wish list Choose gifts for the wedding party Send out invitations and keep a list of acceptances Send out info pack to those attending with wedding wedding present list, venue directions and options for overnight accommodation within the area Keep a note of gifts and who sent them as they arrive Buy shoes and wear them in around the house Liaise with reception venue and caterers with ongoing progress

2 MONTHS TO GO If you have any young children attending as guests then book entertainment or crèche facilities Check on Wedding outfits Organise a rehearsal with the Vicar or Registrar Attend a reading of the banns if you are marrying in a Church Order remaining stationery Book any necessary overnight accommodation for guests Book any beauty treatments and hair styling styling requirements for the big day Make a list of everyone who needs to know about your name change Chase up any unanswered invites

ONE MONTH TO GO Draw up a Wedding Day timetable – ‘who and what needs to be where and when’ Do Place Name cards Do seating plan

Try on your whole wedding outfit including underwear and shoes and accessories Discuss special requests requests with your Band and/or DJ Liaise with photographer re any particular shots you require/ a Who’s Who of your Family Liaise with florist Remind all concerned re speeches Have engagement ring cleaned

FINAL TWO WEEKS on--thePut together a list of telephone numbers in case of an on the-day emergency such as a local taxi firm, doctor’s surgery and all suppliers that will will be attending or delivering items on your wedding day Attend ceremony rehearsal with all involved Make final confirmations with venue, photographer, florist, cake supplier, caterers, band, DJ, transport Collect dresses and any hired outfits Compile Wedding Wedding favours Have an early night and enjoy your Big Day
