Filled with Jealous Zeal for God

Dear potential Pilgrim to Spain, Enclosed is the requested flyer and registration form for the Pilgrimage to Carmelite and Colonial Spain, Apri112- 24, 2015. The focus of this pilgrimage is on Teresa of Avila and John of the Cross, the great Carmelite Doctors of mysticism and spirituality. 2015 is the celebration of the sooth anniversary of the Birth of Teresa of Avila. We also include history and heritage of Spain, including the Islamic and colonial elements. Thus we've included Seville, Cordoba, and Granada, along with the central and northern cities of Madrid, Toledo, Salamanca, Fontiveros, Avila, Alba de Tormes and Segovia. We will reflect on the life and teachings of John and Teresa. As well as visiting places of their birth, life and death, we will visit the monuments of Columbus and Ferdinand and Isabella, and the many sites mentioned in this brochure. Spain is a wonderful country, rich in history and heritage. Spain had a golden age of enlightenment, when Christianity, Judaism and Islam co-existed with a great sense of peace, wisdom, mutual respect and positive interchange. Parallel schools of mysticism and spirituality mutually enriched each other. Reactionary Catholicism, manifested in the Inquisition, eventually destroyed this time of enlightened peace, when Moslems and Jews were expelled from Spain in 1492. Their history has a lot to teach us in light of what is going on today. We will have daily Eucharist, as well as Morning Prayer and prayer reflections at significant sites. Reservations are made by sending in the reservation form in the brochure, along with the deposit to: Anne Breslin Great Experiences, Inc. 400- D Lake Street Ramsey, New Jersey 07446 I would love to share passionate and magical Spain with you, through Carmelite and historical eyes.
